i wouldn't hurt nobody's child. it's just like my baby. >> reporter: the voice you shear that of ruby miller. for 25 years she's run a licensed day-care center out of this home in dale city. yesterday police say something terrible happened inside that house. they say a 3-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. the suspect, dakwan miller. ruby miller's son. i went inside and i talked to her today. she's destroyed by what happened here. >> my life is ruined. my day care. i love children. always loved those children. children were as close as they could get. >> reporter: police say the assault happened in the bathroom of the home. they say none of the other kids saw it. they say when the victim got home she began acting an an

updating our breaking nugz from the top the hour. kwame brown charged tonight with bank fraud and is expected to resign. the felony charge stems from an '06 mortgage he secured on his d.c. home. investigators say he overstatored his income on loan applications by tense of thousands of dollars. the council says it will meet in a week to choose a temporary chairman if necessary. just moments ago, d.c. mayor vincent gray sent out this message on twitter saying i'm shocked, ts did appoin s didisa. i nerve worry have imagined something like this. reaction on news 4 at 6:00 tonight. police say excess ish speed to blame for a deadly accident in fairfax. >> a mother and her 6-year-old daughter were killed. two others in critical condition. >> richard jordan joins us live from the scene in fairfax with

more on this investigation. >> reporter: that mother has been identified as 27-year-old dejohn williams whip her two young daughters faith and victoria, but tonight only one survived now at fairfax hospital in the intentsive care unit after a tragic impact right here. the honda civic left almost unrecognizable pap mother and her two young daughters had to be cut out of the mangled mess after fairfax police say their car collide wade van on lee highway. the 27-year-old mom and her 6-year-old daughter died. the 8-year-old girl and the other driver involved were pulled out of the wreckage alive. that man's van had to be peopled back to get him out. both survivors left the scene in an ambulance. a 38-year-old male driving the hond darr van was transported to the hospital with injuries. >> reporter: investigators say the smallest victim diped at the

hospital. police say her seat belt was on but not in a proper booster seat for her size. today would have been her last day kindergarten. >> this man lives next door. always saw the girls playing outside and their mother always nearby. >> reporter: police sap the mother was driving recklessly. the car seen weaving through traffic and going far beyond the 35 miles per hour speed limit. >> some people say the vehicle appeared to be going two or three times the speed limit. but he knows her mother always put her children first. >> very protective, man i late to hear that. i hate that. >> reporter: both of those girls went to gainsbr oh elementary school-of--of--oelementary -- gainsboro elementary. on friday, grief counselors for any classmates that neat help

coping with this tragedy. richard jordan, news 4. tonight police are looking for a man who stabbed a woman it happeneding a go happened gold metal road in gaithersburg. opened the door and tried to rob her. during a struggle he stabbed her six times. the victim went to the hospital. she's expected to be okay. police are asking for the public's help to try to find a man who sexually assault add woman in annapolis. this happened may 19th in the 100 block of gloucester street. a woman walking home, a man pulled sbheer an alley, threw her on the ground and sexually salted her. she was able to fight him off of her and he ran way. the death of an 8-year-old. hit walking on a pedestrian foot

path with his mother. more on this verdict. >> reporter: 22-year-old victor guilty on all four counts against him including the most serious, manslaughter. maria chavez, must now walk with a cane is the victim that survived when a high and drunk ran over chavez and her 8-year-old son. brian hernandez chavez was pronounced dead on the scene. 911 was called and testified in court about the terrible sight when she saw brian and his mother's bodies tossed into the air by the impact of the crash. >> i saw that the poor boy boy's -- ] crying ] i don't want to remember. i don't want to even think about it. >> reporter: in chosen arguments today, prosecutors called his actions a disaster waiting to happen. his blood alcohol level was .15, some four hours after the accident.

he told police he'd had two 4 locos to drink and prosecutors showed video of him buying an aerosol can of dustoff at a cvs hours before the crash. suspecting he was getting high right before the accident. the judge made the right call in finding him guilty of all charges. >> the combination of factors. such a high level of intoxication. he had a young guy who didn't even have a driver's license and for all we know never really knew thousand operate a car. you put all of those things together, and as she said, a disaster waiting to happen. >> reporter: mrp chavez declined comment ar the verdict. she'll spend the rest of her life with metal pins and screws in her body after both legs and her pelvis were broken. far more painful, though, the loss of her only child. victor aldonno will be sentenced in early august and faces up to 26 years in prison.

after a serious accident at home. >> it was a lesson learned at school that helped save her mother's life. >> reporter: these students at stratford landing elementary inning a alexandria got a lesson in handles emergencies, specifically 911 calls. >> should you stay on the phone with the dispatcher until they say so? >> yes. >> reporter: with a giant phone prop and a 911 dispatcher standing by, students reviewed the rules of 911 calling. but one of them, 8-year-old katie lee recently got to put her skill it's to the test. [ applause ] today, 911 dispatchers surprised katie with a citizen's lifesaver award for the 911 call she made the day her mother fell down the stairs in their home. >> taken a shelf up the stairs and i lost my grip and went sliding down. >> reporter: hitting her head on a metal stair railing, katie's
