charlottesville, all this is freshing off to the north and northeast. that soon will be hitting areas around i-95, car rollin county, quantico getting red, fredericksburg, too. another cluster of some heavy rain that will be heading northeastward toward i-81, more of that sitting back to the west, western portions of virginia and areas of eastern west virginia. as far as rain, many neighborhoods saying a quarter of an inch of rain, some close to an inch. martinsburg. any of those storms that are back to the west could deliver brief, heavy rain so you could be getting an additional quarter to maybe a half inch of rain for the evening hours. for 5, for 6, for 7 p.m., hold on to the possibility of thunderstorms, rain probably wraps up at 9:00. temperatures drop to the low 70s. next up for us, some wind. we will talk about that later. sordid details today in the

jerry sandusky sex abuse trial. this morning, a victim broke down and the on the stand as he testified he was befriended then repeatedly abused by the former penn state assistant football coach. this afternoon, a former assistant coach who says he witnessed an encounter between sandusky and another child also took the stand. brian mooar reports now from belfont, pennsylvania. >> reporter: on a dramatic day two of the jerry sandusky sex abuse trial, key prosecution witness mike mcqueary was called in to testify against his penn state coaching mentor. mcqueary has told authorities he caught sandusky in a shower with a young boy, but whether he saw a sexual assault or just assumed it was one, is one of the central questions in this case. mcqueary testified that he heard a sound, caught a glimpse of something, but didn't report it immediately to authorities. the day began with a distraught 18-year-old, known as victim number one, describing what he said was his first sexual

encounter with sandusky. i froerksz he says. my mind was telling me to move but i couldn't do it. or couldn't move. he wasn't yet 13 and testified that sandusky's seemingly innocent touching escalateded into repeated sexual contact. >> victim one today was very emotional. very bothered in telling what happened to him. >> reporter: victim one was the first to bring sandusky to the attention of authorities. during defense cross-examination, the witness acknowledged he told different versions of that story to a grand jury. under persistent questioning, the witness broke down again, admitting he didn't tell the truth because he was afraid and ashamed. a social worker verified the young man's account, saying sandusky admitted to having various forms of physical contact but said there wasn't any sexual intent. like the previous accuser, this

second witness acknowledged he has a civil lawyer but denied the case is going to make him rich. the witness's grandfather says sandusky demanded to know the boy's calendar one summer cot coach could make out his own plans, brian mooar, news4. trayvon martin's parents are taking another stand today against florida's contentious stand your ground law. a task force set up to examine the law met today in longwood, florida, that's just outside sanford where george zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old trayvon martin, who was unarmed, back in february. zimmerman claims self-defense under the stand your ground law. martin's parents say that shouldn't be allowed if the shooter initiates the confrontation. they are presengt the task force with a petition signed by 300,000 people asking the law be changed or repealed. the jury could begin deliberations tomorrow in the hall of fame pitcher roger

clem clemens. he is accused of like to congress whether he ever used perform man-enhancing drugs. attorneys wrapped up their closing arguments today by attacking the credibility of the prosecution's star witness. prosecutors told the jury that clemens lied and should be held accountable be. a 74-year-old man is in critical condition today after two dogs mauled him on his way to work. this all happened early this morning in northeast washington. megan mcgrath reports now on what happened and why neighbors say this isn't the first time these dogs have turned vicious. >> reporter: animal control officers load the dogs into a van and take them away. the two cane core social seemed relatively sedate after their capture but at the height of the attack, witnesses say the animals were in a frenzy, viciously mauling an elderly man simply walking to work. >> biting him in the head, pulled him in the ground, chewed him all up on the arm. >> reporter: investigators someone at towing pros, a business on the corner, didn't properly close the front gate and so the dogs were able to

slip out and attack. >> i heard my grandmother screaming are, oh, my gosh, a man is getting attacked. a man is getting attacked. i look out my window and two dogs are mad. one is pulling at his arm and the other newing at him. we all ran downstairs. the neighbor was coming outside with stick and stuff. >> reporter: one of those neighbors was phil ragland. >> dragged him down the block literally, almost like a dead animal or something. i was pretty scared. >> reporter: ragland scabbed a shovel and perhaps more importantly, his dog oliver. witnesses say the cane corsos took one look at the large american bulldog and ran away a. >> he ran straight to them and as soon as he got up to the man and two dogs, they basically backed off. >> reporter: the dogs are being held by animal control and a hearing to decide if the animals will be released back to their owners or whether they will be put down n northeast, megan mcgrath, news4.

president obama is midway through a day that includes six fund-raisers. moments ago, governor martin o'malley introduced him at a fund-raising reaccept eggs in bat more. the president started by reminding supporters how the campaign first came together back in 2008. >> we came together not because of me. we came together because all of us shared the feeling that we needed to reclaim the basic bargain that built this country. >> the president travels to philadelphia in about an hour. his schedule there includes three fund-raising convenients at the franklin institute. proceeds from all six events will go to the obama victory fund, a joint fund raising committee of obama for committee, democratic national committee and parties from several states. mitt romney is campaigning in the swing state of florida. he delivered a speech at a small business in orlando that makes air filters. romney's remarks entered on the

it's going to be another star-studded fourth of july celebration on the national mall. organizers for a capitol fourth announced headers for the big concert on the west lawn of the u.s. capitol. they include matthew broderick, josh turner, john williams and dozen olympic athletes, including speed cater apolo anton ohno. megan hitty, star of nbc's hit show "smash" will perform. tom bergeron of dancing are the stars will host. a capital fourth will be on pbs at 8:00 and fireworks begin shortly after that at 9:00.

right now, a man is in critical condition after two dogs attacked him. it happened this morning along 46th street in northeast washington. witnesses say the dogs escaped from a nearby towing company yard and they are now in the care of an animal control officer. we will have a live update at 5:00. two key witnesses take the stand today in the jerry sandusky child sex abuse trial this afternoon, former football assistant coach mike mcqueary told jurors he saw sandusky and a preteen boy together in a campus shower. earlier, an 18-year-old accuser described repeated incidents of abuse during sleepovers at sandusky's house. and the fed today signals support for more measures to stimulate the economy, if necessary. that helped stocks regain some of yesterday's losses. the dow gained 162 points to close at 12,573, the nasdaq up 33 points and the s & p up by 15. case closed. 32 years later, a judge finally ruled that a dingo is to blame for the disappearance of a

9-week-old baby. >> it was one of australia's most bizarre incident. nbc's sarah james reportses on the dingo that hate her baby. >> reporter: flanked by family, lindy chamberlain clayton held aloft a death certificate, what she maintained for decades that her 9-week-old baby was killed by a wild animal. >> the dingo's got the baby. >> reporter: lindy and then husband, michael, been camp pamping in the treacherous outhe can backe when baby azaria disappeared from the family's tent in august of 1980. just one month before the birth of her fourth child, she was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. then, in 1986, a scrap of azaria's bloody clothing was found near a dingo lair. chamberlain was freed and later, her conviction overturned, but the cause of the baby's death was still listed as unknown. though divorced, the chamberlains continue to fight

burned her cabin, at least 18 large wildfires are burning in nine states. the town of middleboro, massachusetts approved a cursing ban last night. it levels a $20 fine on the foul-mouthed. some store owners in downtown middleboro back the ban. they say young people take over the benches outside the stores and yell profanities back and forth at eacr and it makes customers uncomfortable. the ban could have a short life. the american civil liberties union says the supreme court has ruled the government cannot prohibit public speech just because it contained profanity. well, their divorce is off, at least for now. according to tmz, basketball star kobe bryant and wife, vanessa, have put their divorce on hold and are working hard on a reconciliation. van necessary virginia filed for divorce back in december. she was supposed to submit final papers by this weekend to make the split official but tmz reports she has no plans to sign the documents. the two got married in 2001 and

the man who plans to walk a tight rope across niagra falls is learning his stunt is both dangerous and pretty expensive. daredevil nick wallenda estimates his historic walk will cost up to $1.3 million. that includes installing the custom steel wire, permits, security, travel and marketing. he says a deal to tell advise it live is helping to offset some of that cost but not all. so, wall help da is asking the public to help with a fund-raising request on nd go go.com. get ready to pay higher bag fees for international travel on united airlines. the airline announced that a second checked bag on international flights is going to jump from $70 to $100. the air line says the increase because of fuel costs and other rising expenses. industry experts expect other major u.s. carriers, like u.s. airways and american, to follow suit. delta already upped theirs to $100 earlier this year.

a stunt that changed a teenager's life, despite its potentially deadly consequences, car surfing is becoming more popular with some kids. now, one car surfer who survived a tragic fall is warning other teens not to do it. ca kerry sanders reports. >> we didn't think it would be dangerous. >> reporter: 16-year-old hannah had never heard of car surfing. a stunt made popular on the internet where someone stands up on top of a car while it's moving. it was just two months ago hannah and her friends went car surfing. >> i was on the trunk holding onto the back windshield wiper standing um. >> reporter: the ride hannah and her friends thought would be thrill ended in tragedy. >> they were both sitting out on the patio when they knocked on the door, screaming. >> the three girls were screaming, hannah's hurt. hannah's hurt really bad. you have got to come. >> reporter: the high school sophomore had fallen off the moving car and slammed into the pavement. >> we got into the hospital and pulled us in to show us the

skull fracture from here all the way down and under, cracked completely through. >> reporter: hannah suffered severe head trauma. doctors induced a coma to reduce the swelling of her brain. they weren't sure if she would survive but after three weeks of unconsciousness, a glimmer of hope. >> on mother's day, i got my wish. they removed the vent. she continued breathing. and every day came out of the coma a little bit more. >> reporter: but hannah faces a long recovery with a portion of her skull removed. she now wears a helmet nearly all day and night to protect her brain. >> my life before the accident was fun. i would be out all the time. i was always exercise and dancing. but now, i can't really do a lot of that. everything's more difficult and it hurts to be alive. >> reporter: 18-year-old cameron bieberly didn't get a second chance. four years ago, he joined a group of friends car surfing, using a shopping cart hooked to the bumper. when they hit a speed bump, he
