you can send mthem to me. i'm not a dad, so it's the only opportunity to get a tie. >> thank you. the delays of your typical metro commute they be a thing of the past. starting tomorrow, they launch rush plus, one of the most drastic changes in history. we have all the details. >> reporter: good morning. starting tomorrow, metro is launching this program in hopes of reducing congestion and how many times you have to change the trains. first, there will be more trains on both the orange and yellow lines here. that's six more each hour, three in each direction. but the trains could be heading for different destinations so here's what you need to pay attention to. some of those orange line trains will now travel to largo town center on the blue line. and some on the blue line. those changes are marked on maps with dashed lines.

associations and the civics associations with the racing of the motorcycles down here. >> police issued 82 tickets and 19 warnings. they arrested one person for dui. and police need your help finding a man who hit a man and throwing him 50 feet into the air. this crashed happened on fairfax boulevard on warwick boulevard. police say the driver in a light colored suv left that scene. they say the suv should have broken head lights and front end damage. if you have information, call fairfax city police. this morning four families are looking for a place to live after a fire damaged their apartment complex. d.c. firefighters rescued five people from the burning building. two firefighters suffered minor injuries. the flames broke out yesterday morning on orange street in southeast. the apartment owner described a hectic scene. >> some of the residents had to climb out of the window. one person jumped out of the

window. others were assisted through fire personnel who did a great job in assisting the residents to come down ladder. >> the owner of the building believes embers from a barbecue may have sparked it. a man was found murdered inside grace's deli, someone tried to rob her inside her convenience store. a viewing will be held next saturday from 3:00 to 5:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00. they're planning a private funeral. in lieu of flowers, they're asking that a contribution made to the national organization of assistance in alexandria. a big election in greece. greeks are headed to the polls and it could determine their play in the eurozone.

they must choose from candidates from a radical left party and a more conservative party in parliament. leaders of the leftist party said they'll reject the bailout agreement. this could cause others to force greece to leave the eurozone throwing the entire region into financial chaos. the results will be coming later tonight. the polls are back open in egypt where the country is voting for a democratically elected president. egypt is holding a two-day runoff election after former president hosni mubarak left office in february of 2011. voters are voting from a candidate from the muslim brotherhood and a member of the old regime. so far, officials say there's been moderate voter turnout and it's been largely peaceful. preliminary results are expected some time tomorrow night. today the national city christian church will raise money to repair earthquake damage at the church. the concert is happening this afternoon at 3:00 at the church

on thomas circle. that's at the intersection of massachusetts avenue and 14th street northwest. the orchestra will play selections from mozart and bay toefb. there's a suggested $20 donation. $150,000 worth of damage was caused to the church. coming up the product launching tomorrow that may give apple some competition. but first, the investigation into a deadly stage collapse as a popular band prepared to go on stage.

tomorrow prosecutors could up their case against jerry sandusky. eight accusers have told how they molested them in showers and a basement bedroom. they hinted that the top university officials knew more than they let on. the defense is expected to present evidence that sandusky suffers from a personality disorder. he has pleaded not guilty to 52 counts of child sex abuse. a tale of two weather patterns in arizona. in tucson, monsoon season is in full effect with the southeast part of the state getting soaked with rain and hail. but it was quite a different story in phoenix as temperature hit the triple digits and people had to deal with dust storms. temperatures are expected to hit 110 next week. carlotta is expected to

taper off after being downgraded to a tropical depression. two children died from the storm as a landslide caused their house to chance. no other deaths or injuries have been reported and it appeared there was not a lot of damage. you told us landslides would be an issue. >> yes, the storm surge is the number one threat. that's when the ocean is pushed in by the wind and when you have heavy rain, mud slides and flash flooding is a big concern for them. for us, boy, mother nature playing some slow pitch with us today. we'll hit this one out of the [ obama ] i'm barack obamathe and i approve this message.

promoting prostate cancer awareness. derrick ward is live in arlington with the details. looks like people are on their way >> reporter: some folks have finished the course already and we're at a pivotal point in the race. coming right down off a hill. you notice some of the racers are wearing neck ties. i'll explain that later. but take a look at the start of the race. thousands -- i'd say at least a thousand or so dads took part in the fourth annual dash for dads. this raises money and awareness for prostate cancer. of course what better day to commemorate or at least observe that and think about the importance of that than father's day. one of the best edges is exercise. this does provide some exercise. it's a good thing to think about and to do today whether you're a father or not. >> every man has a prostate. that comes with us when we arrive. and it's important that we know what's going on with our prostate, that we pay attention.

look at the cumulus deck over washington. these clouds are courtesy of that easterly breeze. it's brought the little taste of the marine layer in first thing this morning. these clouds will not last, the june sunshine should cook them off pretty quickly. winds averaging seven miles an hour. there's more cloud cover the further east you go. 67 in annapolis, 64 degrees as you head down to brandywine, maryland. a nice, cool morning. summer is about ready to come back in a big way this week. it will be well into the 90s. last summer, during june, july and august, reagan national airport dropped below 60 degrees only one time in three months. that was june 15th last year. so far this month of june, we have been below 60 degrees four times already at national

airport. these cool mornings are coming to an end. cloudy skies in ocean city, but the sun will break through even there. thanks to the on-shore breeze, may not make much above 70 at the beeach today. no rain in our immediate vicinity, but there are showers inching their way into eastern parts of ohio. they'll make it into pittsburgh, pennsylvania. you may run into showers but i don't think they have the stuff they need to make it over the mountains. i think it will dry up over the dome of stable and dry air we have over top of us. there's the little cloud deck from the coastline. so the clouds are thicker out on the eastern shore. that won't last too much longer. plenty of sunshine for today. with temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s that will leave most of the cloud deck. you folks in the mountains of west virginia have a little better chance of seeing a shower or two. but in town i don't think it will be much.

now look at this. a pool with a unique view. the holiday inn in shanghai, china, has a glass swimming pool. they can see the bottom of the street. one of the swimmers says it feels like flying. apple is planning to build a spaceship style building in silicon valley. the four-story building will have 2.8 million square feet of office space. t it could open in 2015. microsoft is planning what it calls a big announcement tomorrow and there are reports that it might be a new tablet computer. microsoft is getting set to release windows 8 which will work across tablets and even televisions. microsoft has not commented on the possible tablet. thousands of people are now

good morning. welcome to news4 today. i'm richard jordan. >> i'm angie goff. >> breaking news out of nigeria. the red cross said two people have been killed and 48 others hurt in bomb attacks on churches. they happened in different parts of the city this morning. a third blast hit a church in a nearby city. emergency officials are responding to the scene now. we'll keep tabs on the death toll there and bring you new updated information. turning our attention here to the weather, it is going to shape up to be a nice father's day, isn't it? >> we have two thumbs up. sunshine is gng to be filling your sky for all of your afternoon. we do have some fair weather clouds out there. fear not, they're not rain-making clouds at all. there's almost -- how do you know just by looking at them? notice there's no vertical development on the clouds. they're nice and short.

scandal to ever rock washington -- watergate. federal authorities arrested five men who broke into democratic headquarters at the water gate complex. the men were discovered to be connected to president nixon. nixon was forced to resign a short time later. one of the reporters who helped break the story says it had long-lasting effects on american politics that are still evident today. >> watergate implanted a cynical bomb in american politics that will probably never go away. >> the watergate building is now a dormitory for george washington university. room 723 remained empty for a few years, but now houses students. and mitt romney continues his bus tour across america. today romney will campaign in ohio. yesterday he was in pennsylvania visiting small business owners and attacking president obama for what he calls failed

economic policies. romney also addressed the crowd at the faith and freedom conference here in d.c. via satellite. tomorrow, the nominee will head to wisconsin and iowa. all of the states are key battleground states for the 2012 election. while the economy has been the main focus of the election, immigration has been taking center stage. "meet the press" moderator david gregory said president obama's new strategy is a calculated move. >> this is an attempt by the president to not only break a stalemate on this issue of the dream act, and that was what he was talking about in the rose garden the other day, but also an attempt to really jam up mitt romney who is struggling among latino voters, who has not come out to support something along those lines, had to run far to the right on immigration and would like to tack back to the center. it is about mobilizing hispanic

acres. this blaze is about 45% contained right now. lighteni lightning started the fire. and more than 400 searchers are still trying to find four members of the japanese climbing team who were knocked off a hill by an avalanche on mt. mckinley in alaska. national park officials say heavy snow and windy conditions are hampering their search efforts. the avalanche struck thursday morning. a fifth climber did survive. a heads up, don't be alarmed if you see military planes flying throughout the district starting tomorrow. norad will fly a training session called exercise falcon virgo. it happens overnight beginning monday night and ends early wednesday morning. a new plan is in place to bring a streetcar line to
