economic summit in mexico today. they're going to be ramping up pressure on the european union to take bolder steps to resolve its debt crisis once and for all. nbc's tracie potts is in washington with the details. tracie, good morning. >> lynn, good morning. more government spending, not government cuts may be the answer to preventing a financial crisis in europe and around the world. that is what we will see in a draft statement. we've seen the draft statement. the final statement expected to come out of the g-20 later today stating that the biggest countries are ready to spend more. of course, the biggest concern is the eurozone. the 17 nations in europe, and whether the problems in spain and in greece with those economies may cause that eurozone to falter. but there are other issues they're dealing with as well like egypt, the military trying to strip power from the democratically elected government. and syria, that was a big one on the table yesterday as president obama sat down with russia's

president vladimir putin. they said that -- in fact, putin said that they had commonalities. the president said that they agreed that the violence needs to end, but not a lot of specifics there, especially when it comes to whether or not syria's president needs go. lynn? >> all right. tracie potts there if us in washington. tracie, thank you. well, elsewhere new evidence was released in the trayvon martin case yesterday, including jailhouse calls from accused killer george zimmerman to his wife. calls prosecutors allege prove shellie zimmerman lied when she told the judge she and her husband were broke. nbc's jay gray has that story. >> reporter: we're hearing more from a man who shot and killed trayvon martin. special prosecutor angela corey released six recorded jailhouse phone calls. during the conversations the couple talks about their love for each other, confidence in their attorney and buying

bulletproof vests. >> i want you wearing one. second of all. >> reporter: prosecutors say the recordings also reveal zimmerman providing his wife with detailed instructions on how to access a bank account and move money from one account to other. they allege the couple was transferred donations from an internet called and discussing in code calling paypal peter pan and never discussing how much they had. >> take the ten out first and keep it in your pocket and then at the institution see yo if you can put ten into hers right away and see if she can take that ten out and put it in the box there. >> reporter: prosecutors say when they talk about tens, the zimmermans are actually discussing $10,000 and despite telling the judge they were broke, the zimmermans actually had access to at least $130,000 when bond was set. that bond was revoked and zimmerman was sent back to jail. his wife was arrested oven a

charge of making a false statement. still, his attorney has downplayed the allegations. >> though they weren't honest with judge lester at first, it wi was four days later the moneys with transferred to me. >> reporter: a new bond hearing is scheduled. and now here's a look at some other stories making news early today in america. and now for a look at your in florida, an amazing sight. doctors removed a three-inch peer from a teenagers head. he was accidentally impaled just before heading out on a spear-fishing trip. they had to use a metal cutter just to be able to place his head in a cat scan device. they say the 16-year-old is out of intensive care and recovering. in arizona, massive flames and numerous small explosions destroyed a warehouse used by a plumbing wholesaler.

whoa. strong winds fueled the fire and heavy smoke could be seen for miles. the cause is under investigation. thankfully no one was hurt. in virginia beach, a driver says her foot slipped, and this was the result. her car came crashing through the front doors of a sandwich shop. three people, including a baby were inside the car and four people were inside the store. but there were no serious injuries. and, finally, to minnesota, where this is anything but a dream home. actually the exact opposite. broken water pipes and warm weather combined to cover a townhouse from wall to floors in mold. the house had been foreclosed so no one was living there but neighbors started seeing the disgusting site back in march and authorities say it will people be cleaned up. i need a somehow. and now for a look at your national and regional weather, here's nbc meteorologist bill karins with the weather channel forecast.

good morning. if you're just waking up, this is "early today." and in sports major league pitching legend roger clemens posted one of the biggest victories of husband life yesterday. in court. here's nbc's fred roggin with an early look at all your sports headlines. good morning, and you can add another win to roger clemens' resume. the most decorated pitcher in baseball history was found not charges. perjury and jurors rejected the prosecution's case that clemens lied to congress in 2008 about using performance enhancing dru drugs. the verdict is also a blow to the government to spend millions of taxpayer dollars. so clemons is now a free man, but the question remains will the baseball writers forgive him enough to elect him to the baseball hall of fame.

today cc sabathia struck out ten for the first complete game of the year. mark teixeira and robinson cano both hit solo shots. the yanks won ten straight. who would have thought r.a. dickey would be this good. he struck out 13, now pitched back-to-back complete one-hitters. he ripped his first career grand slam in the sixth. dickey improved 11-1 with a 5-1 win. the wind was blowing out and the cubs were hitting them out. smacked five home runs. they may have the worst record in baseball but they have bragging rights in chicago. they won it 12-3. now to phoenix, demand dmaks' aaron hill came back with a double in the fifth. needing a home run for the cycle and there it goes. aaron hill single-handedly beat the mariners 7-1. finally can you imagine mike tyson accepting a tony award?
