identified as 26-year-old danielle melman of ben salem, pennsylvania. sources say she was stabbed several times. delaware state police put out this photo of the man believed to be the suspect, this 26-year-old from wilmington, delaware. as the summer season begins dewey beach is filled with young adults. >> everyone is talking about it, like the entire town is kind of scared and especially people that are visiting right now. >> everybody's talking about how crazy it is. it's never happened in dewey before. >> news4 learned this may not have been random. the sources say victim and suspect were acquaintances and they arrived the day before the murder in the same car and were staying in the same motel room which was registered in the name of the suspect. >> at the police department we're doing our best to ensure the safety to all of our visitors and our residents and make sure everyone comes here and has a wonderful time and goes home. >> this evening, delaware state police are no longer looking for the suspect. they tell us, he's dead.

his body was found in new jersey. reporting from dewey beach, delaware, chris gordon, news4. >> police have not released details on how the suspect died. news4 will continue to follow the developing story for you and have the latest tonight on the "news4 at 6:00." a construction worker in his 80s died on the job today at a d.c. asphalt plant. police say a dumptruck struck the man this morning in the 1100 block of w street northeast. the victim worked for fort meyer construction. the company's vice president said he was a longtime and well-loved employee. the police and officials from the occupational safety and health administration are investigating the incident. another construction site accident today. this one in prince george's county. here's a look from chopper 4. it happened around 10:00 on canadian way here in laurel. firefighters say the man was working at the site when he fell about 20 feet into a concrete trench. crews say it took a team of nearly 30 people to rescue the

man. he's in serious condition right now. late this afternoon, jerry sandusky's wife took the stand in his child sex abuse trial. the former penn state coach is accused of sexually abusing ten boys. the defense put a psychologist on the stand. brian mooar is live outside the courthouse belefonte, pennsylvania. can you tell us what his wieft said? >> reporter: barbara, in many way dottie sandusky has loomed large. in each day's testimony, she was supposedly in important places, in important times. near her husband and these victims when some of these assaults took place. today, in many ways, dottie sandusky's testimony was anti-climactic. no real bombshells. she said she didn't see anything inappropriate. she didn't hear anything inappropriate. one of the accusers said that he cried out in pain as he was abused by jerry sandusky but dottie sandusky said that she was in her home at the time this

allegedly happened and she said her basement isn't soundproof and if there was something -- if something had happened, she would have heard it. there was a fairly jent cross-examination who got dolty sandusky to acknowledge that she did know the names or know many of the accusers but she said it did not happen the way the accusers said it did. she stood behind jerry sandusky. barbara? >> is there any speculation that jerry sandusky himself will take the stand? >> there is a lot of speculation. people saying on both sides why he has to and why he absolutely must not testify in his defense. the have-to side welcome that bob costas interview he has to straighten things out. the why he must not testify, the bob costas interview that he did so horribly. if he does that on the witness stand, game over. >> so that would come tomorrow if it happens at all?

complete shock to her. we're live in stafford, virginia, news4. summer officially starts tomorrow and we're in for a really scorcher. the d.c. department of public works plans to start trash pickup an hour earlier for the rest of the week because the temperatures are expected in the mid 90s. trash collection will start at 6:00 a.m. meaning d.c. residents can put out the trash and recycling starting at 6:00 the night before pickup. it's already steamy out there. you can almost see it looking at that picture. a heat advisory in effect for tomorrow. >> look out for the rest of the week. doug has the first forecast on this scorcher eve. doug, what about ait. it's very hazy and we're going to be talking about the three h's over the next couple of days. hazy, hot and humid, that's what we'll see tomorrow through the end of the week and right now temperature is 87. that with abundant sunshine. a dew point of 70. that puts the heat index into the 90s and winds out of the

joe. a park will bear the name of the late chuck brown. mayor grey made the promise last month at brown's memorial service and today he announced he submitted a bill to the d.c. council to rename the western secti section lang don park, chuck brown park. he says it will be a park where chuck's music can be played and people can enjoy themselves as they always did while listens to chuck brown perform. he died in may at the age of 75. studies show 20 to 25% of people actually use the right amount of sunscreen. in the next few months, things might get even more confusing. as manufacturers begin to change product labels to comply with new fda regulations. we have this all broken down.

doreen? . last june, the fda came out with new guidelines for sunscreen labels. guidelines that were supposed to clarify the product's effectiveness. a year later, manufacturers still haven't made those label changes and tonight, we tried to decipher some of them. >> being in the sun makes you feel good. kind of gets the endorphins going. >> amied to be tan add a teenager. between lying in the tanning bed and outside she said she always maintained a glow. >> i didn't think twice about it. i thought, i can't be doing too much harm, so -- little did i know. >> that's because years later, she developed melanoma on her back and arms. she underwent surgery to remove the tumors but it left her with some deep scars. >> there's no such thing as a safe tan. >> medstar washington center dermatologist says that the best way to prevent skin cancer is by using sunscreen. yet, current product labels can make safe sun protection

confusing. >> right now there's reallies just a plethora of terms that are used. a legs con. >> some say think respect sweat proof but he said that doesn't mean anything because they haven't done testing to determine how long the product lasts on the skin when it comes into contact with water. >> the problem is every time you're in the ocean and in and out, it wipes off. so i think patients have a false sense of security. >> under the fda's new guidelines, sun sciences will be labeled either water resistant for 40 minutes or 80 minutes. an indicator of when people need to reapply. d they says no issue that the products with spf above 50 actually give additional protects so to comply with the new rules, manufacturers will eventually stop making them.

>> they're going to want to use at least a spf 30. anything under that is, for daily use is probably okay but for the beach you need to eyes at least spf 30. >> amy gets regular skin checkups from her doctor so she can keep an eye out for any recurrences and she's extremely cautious out in the sun, using lots of sunscreen, wide brimmed hats and sunglasses. >> people think that things will never happen to them. and i think you just have to really be vigilant and not assume. >> sunscreen manufacturers were supposed to change the labels this summer but they were worried they wouldn't finish them in time and there might be a sunscreen short am so the fda dwanted an extension. the labels should be fully updated by december of this year. it seems like every year at this time we have another story about confusing son screens. spf and the uvb and uva -- the

i'm talking about. right now temperatures are still close to average. 87 right now in washington. 90 in fredericksburg and 90 up near frederic. heat index, 96 in manassas and 98 in d.c. and in frederic and 96 back to our friends back in the westover near winchester. tomorrow, i think you can add another five, maybe even more degrees to this. on thursday, we get even hotter so we're really in for a little bit of a mess. heat index tomorrow, i think 100 to 105 with the heat advisory in effect all day tomorrow and wi we'll see the heat advisory in effect for thursday. thursday heat index could be between 105 and 110. so that would be even warmer out there. so stay tuned for this. take precautions. the biggest precaution, check on the elderly, especially if they live alone. always check on the elderly. they are, by far, the biggest population that sees a threat from this. storm 4 radar, not showing much in the form of rain.

some storms near the mountain ridges and that's where they would be over the next couple of days. no chance of rain to the east but over the mountains a scattered shower or a thunderstorm or two because of a huge ridge in theosizr levels sending the moisture up and around the area. tomorrow the ridge will be on top of us and that will allow us to heat up. the numbers back to the west. 91 in st. louis. 92 in memphis. 94 in chicago. and that's some of that heat that's making its way here. it will move in and it's going to build across our region. this evening, a few clouds. warm and rather humid. temperature, 76 to 83 degrees. tomorrow morning, waking up to a very warm emergency and a little muggy. 62 to 76 and then tomorrow afternoon, hazy, hot and humid and temperature 90 to 96 degrees as we move on through the afternoon tomorrow, expect the heat index to get close to or over 100. as we move on through the next couple of days look at these numbers. 96 tomorrow. 98 on thursday.

it feels like 93 right now in richmond. that's the actual temperature. it feels more like 96 to 97. there's still a little bit of relief up toward philadelphia and new york. new york right now, only 76. they are also expected to be into the 90s tomorrow. this heatwave making its way across the mid-atlantic and northeast. i'll tell you how hot it's going to get and how long it will last coming up. if number of teenagers seeking treatment for heroin abuse has skyrocketed. number of deaths among high school and college age kids doubled in 1999 to 2009. the problem is only getting worse. nbc's kate snow joins us live from negotiating with more on her three-part series on "nbc nightly news" tonight. kate, why do experts think it's becoming such a problem in the suburbs and all around? >> jim, there's a number of different answers. one is, it is easier than ever to get heroin. there's one kid in our piece who said to his father, i could call right now and get it delivered to my mailbox out in the

suburbs. another thing is you don't have to inject it anymore. you can senator it and it's easy to use and it's cheap. in some cases, kids will start on other drugs. oxycontin and prescription pain killers and find that heroin is simply cheaper. >> and how big a problem in terms of numbers are we talking about, kate? >> i can tell you in 2009, more than 30,000 kids, ages 12 to 17, starts using heroin. more than 30,000 kids in one year! you just said the statistics of how many kids are being treated for abuse. how many kids are dying from heroin abuse. it is an epidemic. we'll meet along the way these three parts you'll meet families dealing with this. some families, unfortunately, who have suffered premen dowse loss and are now trying to fight back. >> what can parents do? what should parents do? >> all the parents who have been through this say you've got to keep your eyes opened. if your gut tells you that something might not be right,

"dark shadows" and "the rum diary." a new way to file credit card complaints and keep track of other consumer complaints. and the airline that has led the industry in customer satisfaction has been replaced. and wondering when the best time to leave town for the 4th of july? liz has answers to all the questions. >> don't leave yet. >> we begin with the new government website that did launch today. a public consumer database for credit card. the consumer financial protection bureau started taking complaints when the bureau first opened last summer and today it added krooird complaints online. you can submit a complaint and see other complaints from don assumers. they show the type of complaint. the date it was submitted. the consumer zip code and the credit card bank name. they say complaints are only uploaded after the company verifies the complaint. so far, they have received 17,000 credit card complaints.

the most common? billing disputes. go to nbc4.com and search credit card complaints. and speaking of complaints, there appears to be fewer complaints when it comes to flying. a new study released today shows consumers are feeling better about airline service compared to years past. the american customer satisfaction index says airlines satisfaction matches its best level in a decade. and for the first time in 18 years, southwest relinquished its first place ranking. jetblue took number one in customer satisfaction, the first time jetblue is included in the survey. poor performers two of the biggest airlines, yunts and american. and in addition to the airline industry, acsi says customer satisfaction when it comes to hotel is much higher than airlines and a study shows when it comes to eating out for the first time in the history of the survey, sit-down chains tied, rather than beat fast-food restaurants in customer satisfaction. oh, well.

a florida woman is outraged after she says a tsa agent groped here. >> elizabeth billingsly reports that both sides are complaining about what happened at the airport. >> reporter: it happened on her way to cleveland, ohio, airline passenger carol price says while going through security to catch her flight, a tsa agent groped her. watch how she handled the situation, putting her carry-ons down, she turned to a tsa supervisor and grabs her, allegedly without permission, to show the supervisor what price said she went through. >> a customer complaint of a extremely inappropriate search.
