key third-party witness. perhaps jerry sandusky's best hope of an alibi. several accusers say she was nearby when sandusky abused them during sleepovers at the family home or on trips. the wife denied there was any inappropriate contact. she said she never saw or heard anything. earlier, a defense expert said sandusky suffers from an obscure mental disorder. forensic psychologist elliott atkins says his diagnosis of histrionic personality disorder offers an alternate explanation for what we're previously described as creepy love letters from sandusky to one of his accusers. day two of defense testimony focused as much on knocking down charges as building up sandusky's reputation. with a parade of character witnesses recalling his good deeds. >> these character witnesses really do nothing other than the fact that they signal to the

21-year-old nicklas morales mosedo yesterday and say a woman he met on the website back page.com came to his house when she got there, investigators said he had a rifle and told her he was a police officer and would arrest her if she didn't do what he said. morales mosedo is being held on bond. new details on a murder that rocked a popular resort town. inside a dewey beach motel room. now the suspect is dead. police say the pair traveled to the atlantic ocean side motel together but the motive is unclear. chris gordon has the latest. >> reporter: dewey beach is a destination for young adults and college kids who come here to drink, party and basically, get loud. it is not known for violent crime and this murder has become the prime topic of conversation. >> i'm just saying, they're just scared. the first murder in dewey history. >> all the girls are scared to walk home at night they feel like someone is going to come

home and get them. >> the police call it a homicide. the victim, 26-year-old dan yooel melman, found by a made lying on the floor of her home at the amendmentic oceanside motel. >> it was sad, my daughter was crying. she felt so bad. >> sources say the victim was stabbed several times. delaware state police put out this photo of the man believed to be the suspect. 26-year-old kumar of wilmington, delaware. news4 learned this may not have been a random killing. sources say the victim and suspect were acquaintances and arrived the day before the murder in the same car and staying in the same motel room registered in the name of the suspect. as the summer season begin this week, dewey beach is filled with young adults. >> does it give you any piece of mind or sense of safety or security to know they were checked in together? in other words, they knew each other? >> that makes me feel a little better. it doesn't make me feel like i'm a target for this person.

a florida teenager survives a freak accident. a giant fishing spear pierced his skulg. he was fishing in miami when the gun went off and the spear entered above his right eye and went through his brain and the back of his skull and it took three hours to remove it. doing tors say the teen will stay in the hospital for several months as they keep an eye on the extent of the injuries. the uprising in syria has been under way for 16 months and no reports of deadly violence against civilians. new video purportedly shows government forces sheming the city of homs this morning. nbc news can't authenticate because journalists aren't allowed inside syria. there are thought to be about 1,000 families trapped in homs. the united nations is appealing for that's release. back here at home, a maryland woman is on a mission. she wants to make sure all of

the unmarked graves at the historic methodist church in poolsville are identified. many of them belonged to soldier who is fought in the civil war. melissa maylay reports. >> reporter: this cemetery at the historic methodist church in poolsville is filled with soldiers with unmashlged graves and many tombstones damaged over the years are gone. >> our residents can drive by that facility you just visited all day long and not realize what happened there. >> their stories, much about their lives, largely unknown, long forgotten, until now. peggy erikkson had a partial list of names but wanted to know more. she's the director of montgomery county's historic allege society heritage montgomery. the group made a video about poolsville in the 1860s with just 350 residents but 15,000 soldiers. and a signal corp, to telegraph into the city. >> those trooped garrisoned here were garrisoned here to prevent the south, the confederates from

and that's the heat that's moving our way. will continue to do so over the next 24 to 48 hours. a few clouds this evening. warm and humid. temperature is 76 to 83 degrees and winds from the south at about 5 to 10 miles an hour. tomorrow morning, got to start off quite muggy and you're really going to notice a difference tomorrow morning but thursday morning's temperatures will be in the mid 70s to near 80 and that's for overnight lows. that's when we really get into dangerous territory as temperatures don't go down enough. hazy sunshine tomorrow. hot and humid and 90 to 96 degrees with those -- with that heat index and upwards of 105 and 110 as i mentioned. your beach forecast, if you're thinking about heading to the beach, this will be a good place to get relief. ocean city, rehoboth, lewis, delaware, highs in the mid 80s. hopefully, a little bit of a sea breeze as the water temperature is sitting at 70. the next couple of days, there's the hot day. thursday, 98 for an actual temperature. that would tie a record set back

breaking news from tacoma park. the attack happened an hour ago in the 6300 block of new hampshire avenue. the victim, a man in his 40s, was approached by a man with a knife who demanded his money and phone. there was a struggle and the victim was stabbed. he's now listed critical condition in the hospital. people in maryland are asking some questions about pit bulls, how dangerous are they and who is to blame after one attacked somebody. >> maryland's highest court ruled pit bull owners can be liable for dog bites but that decision is unleashing an emotional debate. news4 darcy spencer reports. >> a maier land court ruling recently deemed pit bulls as inapparently dangerous, prompting calls to have maryland lawmakers take the bite out of ruling. animal rights groups opposed the court's decision, except one prominent organization. people for the ethical treatment of animals or peta. >> we're mystified that other

the other we're told had suffered only superficial injuries but all three are facing very serious charges. in the same neighborhood, a month ago there was another home invasion and now investigators are working to figure out whether the trio is linked to that case as well. in stafford, news4. capitol hill lawmakers showed off an empty building in georgetown today calling it a prime example of government waste. the infrastructure committee held a hearing this morning at an old heating plant on 29th street northwest, near the georgetown water front. the government-owned building has been empty for more than a decade but it still has cost taxpayers $3.5 million every year to pay for its operation. lawmakers said underused buildings like this one shiesh sold or redeveloped to save money. the general services administration says it is now in the process of selling that plant. tomorrow, the d.c. council looks at a new proposal to dwrap signs at the verizon center to replace vinyl signs on the the

since may 22nd. talking hoops, the nba draft is creeping up on us now. just over a week away, the wizards hold the number three overall pick. a player they could potentially take of the pick is harrison barnes out of north carolina. harrison in town working out with the wizards today at the verizon center. i can't tell you if club likes this guy. this was the second time barnes' met with the wizards staff. the 6'8" forward, a.c.c. rookie of the year during thinks fresh marn season at carolina. as a sophomore he averaged 17.7 points per game. he received a bad rap for coasting at times. if you're an acc fan you've seen it. he has the tools and he has the athleticism. he blew people away at the nba combine and many believe he'll be better in the nba than he was in the college. as for barnes himself, he likes the wiz.
