shopping center in gaithersburg off i-270. derrick ward has the latest for us now. rning. behind me you see the parking lot at the festival center. nothing unusual about it. that's very different from the scene earlier this morning. it was 1:46 this morning w montgomery county police got the call for a large fight here in the festival center and it stemmed from the red rock cafe. one of the few establishments that would be open at this hour. they found can what only be described as the aftermath of a melee. one person had been shot, three others had been stabbed. we are told that the police who was shot, his condition is being described as possibly life threatening. he has injuries that are described as life threatening. it was a large fight and they have a lot of conflicting information about what happened and what started it. shortly after the incident

police did stop one vehicle a short distance from here with a possible suspect, but at this point we haven't heard from the montgomery county police as to why they know why this happened and who may have been responsible. if one or more people. we hope to have more on that later today. again, what's best described as the aftermath, an early morning melee here in montgomery center leaves one person shot with life threatening injuries. three others being injured, stabbed. >> all right. thanks. and new in morning a prince georges firefighter is recovering after suffering minor injuries. the house fire started around 3:00 this morning in the 4500 block in mount rainier. crews are still working to figure out how that fire even started. today, residents in bladensburg will continue to clean up after friday's major storm. around 2,100 people are still

without power in prince georges county. county officials looked at more than a hundred buildings and determined 20 of them are unsafe. around 600 people have to find temporary shelter. some people described what was happening during the height of the storm. >> so you would have thought a tornado or a hurricane came through. hail was hitting the window, thought the windows were going to break. trees, the wind, a lot going on. >> as i was trying to come out the building, i couldn't open the door. >> the county is running bus service today to and from the shelter at bladensburg high school. if you or someone you know needs help or information about temporary shelter, call the emergency operations hotline at 310-583-2330. many neighbors are cleaning up a big mess as well, strong winds knocked out trees and power lines and even tore roofs

off several homes. one tree punched a hole in the side of a brick house. the worst damage is in wards 4 and 5. department of transportation said it's got over a hundred tree related service. and now affecting the gulf coast that's where residents are bracing for a super soaker. tropical storm debby is forcing crews to stop the gas production off the coast. they have evacuated one drilling rig. people along the gulf coast are stocking up on supplies there. many buying water, flash fighli an plywood. one of the jets that was shot down in syria was not spying on the country. coast guard ships are searching for two pilots. syria shot it down over the med tranian sea. they said they'd take necessary

action against syria. and egypt will release results from the disputed presidential election. some hope it will put an end to the struggle between islamists and the military. egypt held a two-day runoff election between a candidate from the muslim brotherhood and a member of hosni mubarak's former regime. both claimed victory prompting the runoff. no right now, jerry sandusky is reportedly on suicide watch. one of sandusky's lawyers says the former penn state assistant coach was put under individual guard. meanwhile his lawyers confirmed yesterday they requested to resign from the case before the trial even started. they told the judge they did not have enough time to properly prepare it for the case to defend sandusky. but the judge denied their request. sandusky will learn his exact sentence in three months.

george zimmerman is headed back to court in florida. that tops our look at the week ahead. a judge will hold a second bond hearing on friday for zimmerman. the same judge revoked his bond earlier in month after prosecutors discovered zimmerman and his wife lied about their finances. zimmerman faces second degree murder charges for the shooting and killing of 17-year-old trayvon martinn february. he has pleaded not guilty to the charges. a bit of uncertainty expected tomorrow for wall street. the markets ended friday on a positive note. but some of the world's biggest banks saw the credit rating lowered last week. moody's lowered it for bank of america, jpmorgan chase and goldman sachs. it usually makes it harder for

several wildfires are burning in the west. this fire broke out yesterday near colorado springs and quickly spread to 600 acres. it's threatening neighborhoods but hasn't destroyed any structures. meanwhile, the hyde park fire burned more than 81,000 acres. strong winds spread the flames making it harder for firefighters to contain the

fire. in fact, firefighters have the fire 45% contained. that's down from 60%. and families can now return to their homes after a wild fire forced them to leave near salt lake city, utah. they're making good progress containing this fire. they believe target shooters started the blaze. >> must be really dry out. >> very dry. they did not have a good snow winter out towards the pacific northwest so they're expecting a very bad fire season and way ahead of average for the amount of stuff that's been burned. i think we're close to our average for the year and it's not even july 1st yet. so this is going to be a bad fire season for them and an interesting time along the gulf coast as we try to figure out what exactly tropical storm, and hurricane debby is going to do. for now in the immediate term,

hi, everyone. good morning and welcome to news4 today. >> thank you for joining us this sunday, june 24, 2012. at least one prince georges county firefighter was injured while battling a massive house fire in mount rainier. it started around 3:00 this morning on 32nd street. officials say the two-story home was vacant. no one was hurt. montgomery police are investigating a fight that injured seven people. it happened at the festival shopping center and police have not released information on a possible gunman or who may have had that knife.

more than 2,100 are still without power on friday's microburst storm. some customers might not get their electricity restored until tomorrow. in bladensburg, 600 people have been displaced and forced to find temporary shelter. that microburst is something else. >> it sounded like a tornado, but any time the wind rushes up it sounds like a tornado, but it's caused by the chance of the rain shaft. it comes racing down and then all the air blows out around the spot. they could have winds 60 to 90 miles an hour easily. and so tough stuff for them. meanwhile, a lot of folks barely saw any more than a breeze. very, very localized. that's one big feature of microbursts. for today, no need to worry about severe weather today.

a 100 members of congress are violating ethics rules. almost one in every eight trades were connected to bills in election. congress passed the stock act, it prohibits lawmakers and staff to trade on inside information. a heads up for drivers, avoid driving around the wilson bridge this weekend. construction on the project is causing some huge delays. yesterday, traffic backed up on i-95 all the way to wood bridge. the through lanes in alexandria are shut down. all traffic between van doren street and telegraph road have to use one local lane. north traffic will be diverted northbound to the tyson's corner. all lanes should be back to
