three days after severe weather tore into parts of our area hundreds are still without power tonight. good evening, everyone, i'm chris gordon. tonight 400 people are still without power. pepco firms have been work ago round the clock since power has been knocked out to thousands of people. tonight pepco is getting help from several other power companies. darcy spencer is live tonight in cheverly, maryland. >> reporter: pepco is getting help and they can sure use the help. there's a lot of devastation

here in prince george's county. this is one example of some of the devastation, a large tree, limbs came down and fell downtown the power line here. there's damage to this home. this is what we're seeing here throughout the town much cheverly. a lot of streets have been blocked. some damage to homes. this is what's left of a power line that fell on a property here in town and the fire marshall told the owners they are lucky that their house didn't catch on fire. a 7,000 volt power line fell on this property on greenleaf road during friday night's severe storms, electrifying the fence and the house. there are burn marks on the home, on the carpeting, even the doorbell was burned out. >> all of a sudden it looked like fireworks outside, yellow blue, green sparks and flames and this power line had come down and was whipping in the wind and sort of beating against

our house and making flames. >> reporter: she shows a piece of the torn power line, the line has since been replaced, the power is now back on but she and her husband plan to have their wi upgraded. >> the fire marshall came and said everything was same. we had an lelectrician out yesterday and said we dodged a bullet. we're pretty lucky. >> reporter: throughout the town of cheverly trees and power lines are down. some roads are stilling blocked. meteorologists say a microburst is responsible for the damage here in cheverly, a storm that packed dangerously high winds, hail and lightning. >> it was so sudden and so kind of scary. i mean it looked like the apocalypse here on friday night. a lot of work has been done, neighbors have been out, the town has been out, pepco has

been out, everybody is really working hard and pulling together but there's still a lot of work to be done. >> reporter: pepco officials say they have about 700 workers working on this problem trying to get the electricity restored but there's still a lot of work to be done. they were hoping to get the majority of those people back on by sometime tonight but some of this work will stretch into tomorrow. so far people are being quite understanding, there was a major storm that came through here but, again, hoping to get their power on as soon as possible. reporting live from cheverly, darcy spencer, news 4. >> a beautiful day today outside but some places to our south are seeing some wet weather. meteorologist chuck bell is in storm center 4. hi, chuck. >> good evening to you and good evening to everybody. the weekend has been dry start to finish. we've seen a couple of showers down the south of town and a few more up towards the mason-dixon line. another citizenler out there.

fifth day in a row 90 or better in washington. 89 now. 90 in la plata. just a couple of light rain showers up along the pence/maryland line and the thunder showers we had down to our south, culpeper and orange are fading away. you can see light rain showers north of frederick out towards hagerstown. chance for more showers tonight. just a few spotty showers our. clouds around by 9:00. then showers returning probably after 11:00, midnight tonight into monday morning but still not looking for a whole lot. more rain coming up tomorrow afternoon. the cool stretch, the heat wave and possibly the hurricane all that with the seven day and more. >> karioke turned to chaos in gaithersburg. it started in a fight in the new red rock cafe and ended with several people in the hospital.

>> reporter: it was around closing time in gaithersburg. the parking lot strewn with the wounded and those tending to them. it started inside without warning amid the normal tenor for a rap karioke event. >> chaos. people running. using salt shakers as weapons. i've never seen anything like it in my life. >> both gaithersburg city police and montgomery county police responded and when they arrived they found approximately 100 individuals fighting in the parking lot. >> reporter: it wasn't the first time this event was held at the club and they are usually well attended sometimes drawing people from as far away as philadelphia. this one was no different. we're told the club was not beyond its allowed capacity, alcohol was being served and the fight that started it all was apparently between a pair of females. >> from what i told one pushed the other. >> male patrons joined in, took the fight outside. >> reporter: they took it up a notch as well.

hearing complaints about the death of an adult wallaby at the zoo. they discovered drugs were improperly being used to treat injured animals. she was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. a prince george's county ffr is recovering from burns after a massive house fire. the blaze broke out at a two story home in the 4,500 block of 32nd street in mount rainier. it happened around 3:00 this morning. cruz were forced to fight the fire outside those large flames lashing out making it impossible to get inside. the injured firefighter was sent to a local burn center. they are trying to figure out how it got started. alcohol and speed may be the cause of a deadly car crash in prince george's county this morning. police said happened in the 5,600 block of parker house terrace. they said the driver dodge neon was traveling northbound on

baltimore avenue and struck 40-year-old bernard coltly jr. he was driving an oldsmobile and did not yield the right-of-way as he the right to make a left turn on to delaware avenue. he was killed in the crash. still ahead tonight the massive celebration in cairo's tahrir square after the official results of egypt's election is announced. a major evacuation is under way as wildfires burn out of control. they are swimming,

of a 16 month transition from hosni mubarak. they are concerned about his win because the muslim brotherhood doesn't formally recognize israel. the white house congratulated morecy on his win and urged him to promote national unity as it forms a new government. in colorado, thousands of people are being evacuated from their homes because of this wildfire burning out of control in the waldo canyon. fire crews say the fire grew rapidly overnight spreading at a rate of half a mile an hour. population vacation area around colorado springs are being evacuated and major highways have been shut down. crews say dry and hot weather conditions paired with gusty winds are contributing to the blaze. still ahead tonight a beautiful day for a triathlon. chuck gets us prepared for the work week ahead with his forecast. tonight at 11:00 an injection that helps you lose weight, increase your sex drive and

we have an update tonight on the wilson bridge project on the beltway. two through lanes between van dorn street and telegraph road were opened last night. one local lane is also opened. all lanes will be back in service by tomorrow morning. engineers do warn that drivers should know that some of the local lanes do not have asphalt laid down yet so use caution. pavers will be coming in at a later date to finish the job. hundreds of people woke up bright and early this sunday morning to take part in this triathlon, first-ever celebrating heroes triathlon in elih cot city, maryland. it featured a nonprofit organization that helps patient

here's our future weather forecast. cloudy and damp with a few passing showers late tonight but that weather front coming through here tomorrow might kick off a few showers as late as early afternoon but behind that front after 5:00, 6:00 the drying breezes move in. a nice northwesterly breeze setting up shop for tomorrow late afternoon into early tuesday and then tuesday looking absolutely beautiful, cool and comfy, might even get below 60 degrees at national airport on tuesday morning. the radar shows just a couple of light showers in northern maryland for now. not expecting any severe weather tonight. look at this mess down along the gulf coast. there's tampa, florida, hard hit today, four to six inches of rain in the metro contaminate peter alexander area and rain across parts of the florida panhandle. i've shown this graphic with this exact advisory in the last couple of days. great uncertainty of a future track. yesterday the forecast track for the storm was towards the texas coast. now it's almost due north towards pensacola, florida and further shifts to the east of that track may be expected over the next 24 hours. if you have interests along the
