three days after severe weather tore through our area, power crews continue to work 'round-the-clock trying to get

lights and power back on. good evening, i'm chris gordon in for jim rosenfield. pepco restored power. even for some who have power the aftermath is cleaning up from the debris from friday's storm. news 4 darcy spencer is live in cheverly with a look at some damage. good evening, darcy. >> reporter: we can see a big difference what it looked like earlier today when we drove through the streets this evening. we could see many lights have been turned back on. this is one of the problems outstanding you. have a large tree down on power lines. affecting one home here in this community. the sorts of jobs are going to take a little bit longer. pepco officials are hoping to have power restored to everyone by some point tonight or early tomorrow morning. >> i'm going home. >> the power is on. >> the power is on. >> not sure about the gas.

the power is on. >> snow baker is one of the lucky ones. power has been restored at her apartment two days after a microburst left numerous buildings heavily damaged. strong winds ripped roofs off. displacing 600 people. >> shocking. just telling my friend. riding on 202, 450. nothing looks like it happened. i literally see the tornado paths come in a way, tore this whole neighborhood up. >> pepco officials have restored power to 99% of twhhose who los it. power isn't even the biggest problem. they at least for now have no place to live. >> are you able to get in your building? >> no. because the the roof is gone. see, you cannot get to the inside. have to live at the hotel now. >> reporter: pepco officials had 700 crews working 'round-the-clock to get the lights back on and using utility come pans

come -- companies to beef up ranks. >> it looked like the apocalypse here on friday night. >> reporter: nearby, clean-up efforts are continuing after winds knocked down trees and homes and power lines. >> i lived here for 25 years. and, more than 25 years. and i have never seen anything like this. >> reporter: ellen says a 7,000-volt power line felt on her property, electrifying the fence and home. even the doorbell was burned out. she says she is fortunate it wasn't even worse. >> the fire marshal came and said everything was safe. then we had an electrician out yesterday. he said we dodged a bullet that, you know the fact that no one was electrocuted and the house didn't burn down was pretty lucky. so -- for. >> reporter: power outages are done to 100 in prince george's county. as i mentioned there are some folks facing an uh uncertain future. power isn't really the issue at this point. they have no place to go. because of, so many buildings were damaged.

scattered showers overnight tonight. pop up thunderstorms possible into the earlied to my ed tto m hours. breeze starts to clear things out. 80s tomorrow. oh going to get hot before the week is out, chris. that forecast coming up. >> thank you, chuck. director of reston zoo is facing animal cruelty charges. police arrested 26-year-old friday. investigators say it stems back to january after an employee alerted animal control about the suspicious death of an adult wallaby. they said euthanasia drugs were improperly used to treat animals. she is charged with possession of the controlled substance. a rap night turned into a chaotic scene at a restaurant early this morning. it happened around 1:30 a.m. at new red rock cafe on muddy branch road. police say a fight broke out between two women during the event. and hundreds of people continued the melee in the parking lot.

springs area. fire officials say dry and hot weather conditions along with strong winds are fueling this blaze along with seven others across the state. well tonight, "jeopardy" host alex trebeck is in the hospital recovering from a mild heart attack. admitted to cedar sinai medical center in los angeles yesterday. a publicist says he is in good spirits and expected to make a full recovery. barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will be ready to host the new sea son of "jeopardy" beginning next month. trebeck has been hosting "jeopardy" for 28 years. wait for it now. some call it a killer tan. an underground drug is said to enhance skin color, shed pounds and even boost your libido. health officials say the is illegal and dangerous. kim baldanado has the the story. >> reporter: some worship the son, some go to tanning salons
