have to contend with the storms first. very hot around the mid-atlantic, washington, d.c., look at your temperature here, 105, the all-time high is 106. we've got the nationals hosting the colorado rockies for a hot afternoon game, 94 in atlanta, the core of the heat is across the midsection of the country. 95 in salt lake city, 80 in denver. we are cooling off across the rockies thanks to much-needed moisture, hopefully not too much to cause mud slides across the burn areas especially. down into new mexico more rain showers expected sunday and the thunderstorms will make their way into the mid-atlantic, still hot in d.c. at 100, cooling off a bit for the northeast. and then watch what happens by early next week. we're below average here as far as daytime highs, only 82 in our nation's capital, 83 in louisville, and showers and storms across some of the drought areas. unfortunately, the severe weather will be a concern here as well with damaging winds expected for some of our

southern states, large hail as well, and dangerous lightning. always a threat for dangerous lightning this time of year. when thunder roars, head indoors as we vai. 82 in kansas city on tuesday, we'll be warming up across the west, an area of high pressure heating up the ind land valleys, showers across the southern tier on tuesday and then by wednesday everything sticks around here, we'll have a stalled-out front keeping the moisture around. and that unsettled weather with thunderstorms.
