who could forget when he was the underwear model for calvin klein in '96. >> when you have a chest like that, you don't look at the underwear. >> what is happening there? >> he's using every muscle he's got to keep those pants up. >> then his acting career. he's the producer of the show "entourage" on hbo. >> and "boardwalk empire." and then little drew barrymore was an overnight success. she was a little girl. struggled in the '80s and the '90s with drugs and alcohol. which was so much a part of her family history. now she is a very respected movie actress and producer. just got married and soon to have her first little baby. this one i especially love. >> robert downey jr., me, too. he shot to the '80s with his great talent. >> really battled serious addictions. now back on top with "iron man" and "sherlock holmes." he's married with a new child. there is hope for you is basically what we're trying to say.

>> but that's a high-powered position that you worked very hard, probably spent a lot of money to achieve. why were you not happy? >> because it wasn't that fulfilling. i had other passions. i wanted to be a writer. i kind of made steps in that direction. >> little steps though. >> little steps at first. like hanging around with new people. >> i think some people get afraid because this is what they know and what they don't know is out there. you obviously need a paycheck. you can't just up and quit something and start something. what advice do you have for people on the fence? >> first thing to do -- what our readers say is the hardest thing is finding out what you want to do. she knew what she wanted to do next. it's a crazy thing and we call it creating a board of directors, current friends, good friends and go back to your childhood. sometimes there are a lot of dreams you left in your childhood. some for good, some for bad. >> but they're there for a reason. >> right. they need to remind you of things you might have left behind. you put them together and they

give you thoughts about what you sort of left behind. >> gina, you have an interesting story. were you as a young girl wanting to be a performer and said, i think i'll go into police work? >> the bug for performing was always in me. the police officer thing, no, that was, you know, my friend was going to take a test. i said all right. i always went with the flow. this just came about. >> you were a police officer for years. >> 20 years. >> you did have your pension. when you were trying out the other, the stand-up comedian route you were okay financially. it's something you had to have courage to do? >> i would have been okay financially if i didn't decide to open up a business and lose everything. i should have went back to work. but i did take a big leap of faith. like you're saying, fear is -- >> how did you overcome that? a lot of people couldn't do it. >> i just did it. i went and i took a class. you just have to do the scariest things. >> it wasn't one time you got up on a dare from friends some night at a club. you went to school for it. good for you. >> i did. >> how do you learn how to be

funny? >> that has to come naturally. >> leslie, what are some of the biggest obstacles women face. a lot of women want to make the change. we are talking about fear is one of them. >> you have to have money. depending on the situation you're in, what we say is you've got to plan for at least a year of transition. so you should have saved a lot of money. >> it's hard to save these days. >> the other problem, you're a woman. you have your whole network around you, your family. sometimes there is resistance to change among the spouse. i know you the way you are. i love you, but don't change. >> did you find that, marcy? >> no. i think if you find naysayers, it's time to find people who are going to support you and encourage you. >> dump them. is that what you're saying? >> or maybe don't talk about your transition so much. with people who aren't so supportive. >> everybody likes to be with a winner, don't they? >> that's the number one thing people say. we talk about reinvention a lot. there are a lot of naysayers out there.

some areas through today. it's not over with yet. temperatures there in the upper 70s, 97 in kansas city, the heat is up here. there's a ridge over this area that's actually going to keep isaac to the south at least initially because the flow around it is like this. it's going to keep it south for a while. we start to see the rain spreading a little farther north by thursday, atlanta getting in on the rain. the northeast, not dealing with this, beautiful weather for you guys. 80s in new york city. minneapolis at 95. there's the heat in the central plains, pacific northwest looking good, 70 degrees in seattle on thursday. forecast on friday, making that rain come up this direction. all right, we're seeing it, kansas city 89, coming in overnight. it looks like the rain will spread up there. this is what's left of isaac at this time. it comes into the ohio valley, an area that desperately needs the rainfall. we hope it gets there, 84 in chicago with rain new york staying dry. the west coast dry through the whole period.

this is what's left of isaac, cincinnati, dayton, eventually making its way eastward toward pittsburgh and into louisville, expect showers and good rains in the region. the south dealing with maybe a little bit of rain, atlanta 87 degrees. that continues on monday. west coast, though, beautiful conditions, 70 degrees in seattle, 76 in los angeles. 106 in phoenix, boston 72. that ace look at the next seven days. remember "wake up with al" weekdays monday through friday. tomorrow we'll continue coverage of isaac. you know, i'm not tired anymore after taking it. i was skeptical but i decided one day i'd try it. 5-hour energy works fast. i have the energy to get through a meeting, to get through a workout. it keeps me alert for a long period of time, and keeps me going. on or off the course, play with energy, 5-hour energy.
