pond here on campbellton drive. now, police have information that the killer left the crime scene on foot, that he didn't run, he actually walked quite a ways into the larger neighborhood. so, the investigation has expanded the search area. police recruits walk shoulder to shoulder in a grid search around the crime scene. they're looking for physical evidence that could lead them to the killer. investigators bagged some items and took them away, but their importance is unclear. one key piece of evidence, the gun has not been found and so the search continues. >> the day of the murder, we searched trash cans, storm drains, we're searching more of those, we're searching wooded area over here. drainage pond that looks like new construction back there. that is an area that we want to see that make sure nothing was dumped. >> reporter: 10:20 last

wednesday night, a gunman kicked in the door of them home and then shot 17-year-old amber stanley to dea in her bed. investigators have information that the murderer left the scene on foot, walking, not running, down chartsey street. >> he came down this way and he's not running. that's another thing. people, witnesses always notice the guy running with bad guy written on his forehead. this guy, we're being told, was not running, necessarily. he may have been walking. he may have been fast walking and he may have been thinking, i'm not going to bring attention to myself and i'm going to walk through this neighborhood and then no one will notice me because this is a nice neighborhood. it's a safe community. people walk in this neighborhood. >> reporter: residents are concerned that no one has been arrested. they're glad to so such resources being used to find the killer. >> i'm glad the crews are out here, you know, able to do some extra investigating to see what
11:03 am
else is going on. i thk the whole situation is pretty sad, but, hopefully they can get some leads out here or maybe in other areas of the neighborhood to see possibly what happened or how he got in the area. >> reporter: now, asked if there was a connection between the victim amber stanley and the gunman, the lead investigator would only say this, that in general in murder investigations in general, there is a high probability that the killer has some kind of a nexus to the victim or the situation, would not speak specifically to this case. but when asked if he believed there was a greater threat to the community because the suspect was still at large at this point, he did say no. reporting live in kettering, megan mcgrath, news 4. take a look at this video. traffic is still a mess this morning because of a water main break. it happened around 9:00 this morning and police have closed off the area to traffic while crews try to fix that break. well, it is hard to believe
