the train just derailed in front of the train station down here on main street. >> we are hearing the calls for help after a deadly train derailment. romney and ryan back on the campaign trail and now it's the president's turn to make his case for re-election. >> i'm jim vance. >> and i'm wendy rieger. we the aftermath of hurricane isaac. tens of thousands of people in the gulf coast are still without power and communities are under water. but the clean up is under way. storm relief in mississippi as well. a rain-weakened dam threatened to fail and swamp thousands of homes. but the water level in the lakes have eased the pressure on the dam. some families were able to go home for the first time in several days.

beach with still dry conditions saturday and sunday and showers on monday. we'll talk about here when you can expect the rain to come in and maybe thunderstorms in a couple minutes. a lost key, stolen car and botched burglary. a story that started outside the maryland live casino and ended with a suspect in handcuffs. shomari stone has the report. >> reporter: that woman drove to maryland live casino to have joy. while she was inside a man went on a joyride in her car. >> it's unsettling. >> reporter: marie feels uncomfortable in her home. >> i am walking around in circles things i want to do and i'm unsettled. >> reporter: she says she parked her toyota at maryland live casino on wednesday evening. she walkednside realizing she lost her keys in the casino. her car was gone. not only was she angry -- >> more violated.

>> reporter: daniel miller from baltimore stole her car. marie worried because she left a pair of house keys in her car for emergencies along with bills with her home address. >> i had a set of keys in the car. she called on star. >> i was trying to, you know, tell the on star person that -- can you send a police to my house? >> reporter: police drove to the house and found miller walking out of the door with a plastic bag. her laptop was inside. officers say he tried to run away. they caught him, he struggled and they tasered him. >> i'm glad. at least he is not on the street. >> reporter: police found her keys and her jewelry in the suspect's pants. tonight he is in jail facing charges of burglary and resisting arrest. i'm shomari stone, news4. tonight we're hearing the

911 calls from the deadly train derailment. two 19-year-old college students were killed when the train fell off the tracks. they were sitting on a bridge near the tracks. several people called police about the crash. >> it's coal. it came completely out. >> all right. >> i'm still here. >> some guy just ran over the coal pile. it's nothing. so it's all out on the road. >> yep, completely covering the road. >> this is on main street, the train fell off the track. >> is it on the road? >> no, it derailed. >> a preliminary report from the national transportation safety board is expected next week. police are hoping that tattoos will help them identify the woman who was found dead in

beltsville this week they released photos of the tattoos found on the woman's body. a man out for a walk found the body on wednesday morning. the police are treating the case as a homicide investigation. the prince george's police canvassed a wooded area in cut kettering today looking for clues to the murder of amber stanley. she was shot last wednesday night while she was in bed. police are asking the public to come forward the they saw a man who might have been suspicious this that neighborhood that night. it's primetime for crime. the hours between 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning. now the university of maryland is launching a campaign to keep students from becoming targets. darcy spencer has the latest. >> reporter: university police want students to know that doing something as silver as this,

the proceedings begin. we will be in charlotte. we'll have a report beginning sunday night on news4 at 11:00. the government is ordering virginia tech to pay a $25,000 fine related to the 2007 massacre. a judge dismissed a larger fine issued by the department of education. officials claim that the school violated federal law by waiting for two hours before informing the campus of a deadly shooting at a dorm. by that time the gunman was in a building where he killed 30 people. the u.s. education secretary reinstated half of the fine. police say the shooting at perry hall high school could have been much worse. investigators say the 15-year-old suspect was unable to access his stepfather's gun collection because it was locked in a safe. he used his father's shotgun

went out after firefighters found a woman trapped in her apartment. this was breaking news last night. that fire was burning one floor below. when the crews went in to rescue the woman they were trapped by the heavy smoke and flames. >> it was going really, really bad, really, really quick. she was screaming and crying and telling me my feet are burning. and i know she was burning and being hurt. that broke my heart. >> firefighters were able to rescue them both just in time. four firefighters were injured but they are expected to be fine. a nightclub in prince george's county has been shut down because of violence. it's called club elite in temple hills. a man was shot there in the back while he was dancing. there was an assault and stabbing in the parking lot

earlier this month. dramatic video out of los angeles. a suspected car thief steals a police cruiser and crashes in front of a starbucks. the man stole a marked car from a crime scene, sped off and lost control. the suspect lost his leg in the accident and is in critical condition in the hospital. two more people who visited yosemite national park are fighting a potentially deadly virus. that raises the number of cases to sex. the centers for disease control determined that 10,000 people may have been exposed to that decide after visiting the park. the people infected stayed in tent cabins in this year. it's called hanta virus and spread through deer mice and can cause breathing and lung problems. two campers have died from that decide. more than 800,000 people in our area are expected to hit the beach for labor day.

but getting there is not going to be cheap. tropical storm isaac contributed to an increase in gas prices over the last few days. the national average is now $3.82 a gallon. that is the highest ever for labor day holiday weekend. a michigan man quit his job as a railroad engineer after winning one of the largest jackpots in powerball history. meet donald lawsson of la pier, michigan. that is his mom by his side. he says divine intervention helped him win the 370 million bucks. >> there was a line in front of me. so something from above i do have to credit that told me to pick my own numbers. i didn't pick them. my and just went. >> lawson took the lump sum of 224 million. he has no plans to stop eating
