>> verne: 31-3 here. let's go back to the studio for this john hancock update, with tim brando. >> tim: another quarterback in the s.e.c. that people believe should dwooet get heisman consideration is a.j. mccarron. this pass before the end of the half to jones. number one alabama 30-0 over florida atlantic. >> verne: i expected a lot more
6:31 pm
out of florida atlantic. >> gary: if we were doing the game i would expect more out of florida atlantic. >> verne: alabama consecutive shutouts in the last two, trying to go for three in a row. i like their chances. 31-3. 4:45 to go, marcus murphy back to receive the kickoff. this has been a very convincing effort by south carolina. >> gary: and missouri had their chance again, just like they did against georgia. they had the ball inside the five at the end of the half, they were going it get the ball to start the third quarter and they didn't get a touchdown. then the bad kick. >> verne: yes. that one through the end zone. will come out to the 25. >> verne: notre dame has a chance to go 4-0 tonight.
6:32 pm
florida state has the same chance. here are the results. which seem most likely to finish? a lot of you like florida state. >> gary: and florida. >> verne: yeah, yeah. 34%. yes. florida had the huge win to open the year at a&m. >> gary: that really changed things for florida and allowed jeff driskel to emerge. they're going to get better also, and muschamp has sold to his team as we've seen, we're going to see corbin berkstresser right now. >> verne: berkstresser played the entire game last week in the win over arizona state university. that pass complete to marcus lucas. >> gary: he never asserted himself, whether it's play calling -- it could be coach telling him who to thro to but
6:33 pm
that position needs to assert itself more in this offense, the offense i watched when i was doing big ten football with drew brees, drew used to throw the ball to three and four guys. you have to make tough throws. >> verne: franklin for the day 11 of 18, 92 yards. he also carried it 15 times but only for a total of six yards. >> gary: i don't think we've seen anything from their number one back, dorial green-beckham. he was going it fall on the fumble. the only time we've noticed his name throughout the whole game. >> verne: he's in the slot now. berkstresser will throw. and completes it down the left side to the 41 yard line. marcus lucas, again, number 85. second down, five. >> gary: we always talked about the mismatches on the field, and
6:34 pm
for south carolina, you talk all you want about lattimore, the mismatches are their two defensive ends. devin taylor and jadeveon clowney. when you play south carolina, you better have a plan to stop those two guys. >> verne: jimmie hunt, number 88, brought down by quinn smith. >> gary: i guarantee you, l.s.u. and alabama, if and when they play will put two, sometimes three guys, one hitting him, the tight end chipping him and a fullback to run through. >> verne: we showed you that south carolina schedule and, of course, one of their big road trips is out to baton rouge. they will take on l.s.u. >> gary: l.s.u. has two defensive ends just like these guys. >> verne: that's right. another pass completion. berkstresser. that is dorial green-beckham, number 15. that's his first catch of the day.
6:35 pm
and the clock running. >> gary: he was a big time recruit, number one recruit at wide receiver in the country, big get for gary pinkel. they have had four all american receivers, two at wide receiver and two tight end, so easy to recruit those type of guys. >> verne: handoff, right side. this is randy hansbrough. he's out of bounds at the 13 yard line. jadeveon clowney from rock hill, nearby. >> gary: he also has the inside move. every tackle in the league will have to deal with that. what else seems to me in this football game, it's been a very cleanly played game. the referees have barely been noticeable in the game. what have we got? six penalties total. we had the one huge one,
6:36 pm
obviously, on the clip on the 80-yard touchdown but that didn't amount to anything either. >> verne: exactly. berkstresser a total of six penalties in the ballgame. we're under the two-minute mark now. as south carolina will go to 4-0 for the year. eighth in the row going back to last season. that one takes off and winds up in the hedges intended for green-beckham. >> gary: doing reading on corbin berkstresser, how different things are in the world than 10-15 years ago in recruiting, berkstresser committed to missouri before the first game of his junior year in high school. wow. >> verne: offer them early. >> gary: yeah. >> verne: second down, 10. right side. that's complete. marcus lucas, number 85.
6:37 pm
the last time they have been held without a touchdown goes all the way back to october, seven years ago, with a loss at kansas. >> gary: i thought if they would have won this football game they could have gained belief and confidence. they've got alabama coming to their place. it could have been one of those night time games, catch alabama with a hot quarterback, but now, who knows. >> verne: berkstresser keeps it and gets inside the five. that's going to bring up reginald bowen, number 47 with the tackle. -- reginald bowens with the tackle. >> gary: anytime you get -- not shut out but no touchdowns, every quarterback worries about his job and berkstresser may be thinking maybe i can get a job
6:38 pm
here. >> verne: brat down, that's going to be first and goal as marcus murphy, number six, and the clock will stop with 30 seconds remaining. as they relocate the chains. >> gary: good job by corbin catching that ball basically. >> verne: first and goal. fires it. caught. touchdown, lucas. >> gary: lucas, remember, earlier he within inside with the quick slant. did the same thing again. he's going to come into the picture right now wide open. >> verne: here late in the game, lucas has had a big part of what's going on. there is franklin and berkstresser chatting. >> gary: i didn't catch who was on the field as a defensive back. it had to be a back-up, wasn't
6:39 pm
it? >> verne: victor hampton, number 27. >> gary: he did have his starters in there. >> verne: andrew baggett. inside the right upright, and with 17 seconds to go, they get the touchdown on the board. hey. hey eddie. i brought your stuff. you don't have to do this. yes i do. i want you to keep this. it'd be weird. take care. you too.
