anyway, it's the giants that this team will be playing when they win this game tonight. >> we got to go inside. we've been inside for a while watching some of the game. nats park is packed. it's a sell-out crowd. they sold the standing room only tickets this morning. those were gone very, very quickly. it's a huge and enthusiastic crowd in there tonight. >> they're jumping, they're hot. they're waving those red towels. >> we've been here for a good bit of time. i'll tell you, it was very unexpected to see the offensive explosion from the nationals. that's the one part of this team that really hasn't produced this post-season. but, tonight, they did. and it started early. especially with the top of the order. this was a fun, fun game to w p watch early on. this place would erupt early and often after a jason werth double

and a bryce harper double to give the nationals the lead. ryan zimmerman making the night even worse. a two-run bomb and the nationals go up 3-0 after just the first inning. same score. bottom 3. harper did not struggle tonight. gets all of this pitch. his first post-season home run and the nationals take a 4-0 lead. harper, the second youngest player to homer in the post-season and the youngest with a triple. and they kwrnt done yet. three batters later, michael morse getting in on the action. 6-0 nationals. right now, the nationals lead 6-3 going into the 7th inning. so fingers crossed they can hold them off and get it done. bup here's the thing. having a 6-3 lead, this is something they haven't experienced before. >> it was awfully exciting. still is a lot of drama. >> oh, yeah, it's an awful lot

37 in winchester. 40 in the big cities, washington, baltimore towards annapolis, closer to the water. still above that 50 degrees mark. the temperatures will continue to go down tonight and this could be the coolest we've been in quite some time this early. talking about freeze warnings, most of northern virginia at fairfax and alexanderia county. many areas here could not only get below freezing, but, jim, as you mentioned, could see temperatures in the upper 20s tonight. a very cold night. i'll show you who sees the coldest weather and what to expect for the rest of the weekend. there's a big change coming maybe the other way. we'll talk about it in a minute. >> as doug mentioned, this will be the coldest night yet. in d.c., it will be the earliest we've seen in almost a decade, folks. the cold air isn't keeping people off the streets tonight.

shomari. >> reporter: folks are not keeping off the sfreets, especially with this nats game. i talked to people in hotels. they say oh, it's so cold, they go back in, open the suitcases and then come out to have a nice time. it's going to get even colder tonight. that is what is expected. i must point out that a lot of folks tell me they're saying to themselves good-bye summer, hello autumn. some folks are wearing layers to stay warm. now, that cold weather isn't stopping people from waiting in line to buy deserts at this cup cake shop. now, we talked to that couple visiting from connecticut and they tell me the dipping temperatures takes them by surprise. >> tell me how you're feeling? >> cold. i mean, i had -- i've got layers. i had this one done up, this done up, i'm still cold. it's really cold. especially for washington, it's

in my heart, i regret to inform you that the body that was found has been positively identified as jessica ridgeway, the missing girl from westminister. >> the body was disz covered several miles away and nearly a week after jessica disappeared while walking to school. it follows air and ground searches by hundreds of volunteers who came to the aid of grieving family. >> you don't want any parent, any parent, any parent to ever experience in their whole entire life. >> so, now, the search shifts to suspects. >> i want to stress that we recognize that there is a predator at lanrge in our community. >> the kidnapper and killer could be someone jessica or her family knew. and the f.b.i. is putting four dozen agents on the case to help make an arrest.

an alleged misuse of funds monitored by congress. but there are no specifics tonight. attorneys met with prosecutors this week in an effort to persuade them not to indict the illinois congressman. jackson has been on medical leave from congress since june. now, a disturbing attack today. someone fired shots into the campaign headquarters for president obama in denver. the bullet shattered a large front window, but no one was hurt. police believe the shot was fired from a vehicle. tontd, both sides are claiming victory in the viesz presidential debate. president obama watched from air force 1. mitt romney was in richmond today. but did the debate swing undecide ds voters? nbc news talked about who they saw as the winner.

new york city's super-sized soda ban faces its first legal challenge tonight. a coalition of businesses filed suit tonight. the few regulation would stop

restauran restaurants, cafeterias and concession stands from selling soda and other high-calorie drinks in containers larger than 16 ounces. that rule takes effect in march. a 15-year-old now facing charges in a bullying case captured by a tv news crew. brunswick high school student was doing an interview when three students approached him. one hit him on the head. the teen suspect has charged him wz a juvenile with assault. now to an incredible story tonight. a high school student paralyzed during a family trip to hawaii after months of rehab, he was reunited with classmates during tonight's homecoming game. and what happened next had the crowd in tears. erica gonzalez had the report from the high school. >> the sights and sounds of a packed stadium senior year, homecoming. nick ballinger has asked his

it go, bro? >> it's going to get pretty low tonight. it could be the coldest night we've seen this early in almost a decade. aened that says something here. we're going to get below 40 degrees in the district. let's take a look outside and show you how things are right now. the lights still on, the game still going on at this moment. hoping for a win out there this evening. as far as the temperatures go, we've seen a high temperature today that got up around 67 degrees. that was early with a low of 46. coldest night of the season, by far, on the way. that's why we have those warnings and those frost advisories. 52 at the airport rielgt now. that doesn't seem cold, does it? but winds out of the east at 14. any time you add wind, it feels that much cooler. it's a lot cooler, 36 in frederick, 37 in monassis. and the temperatures will continue to fall throughout the evening, even down towards southern maryland coming in

right now at 39 degrees. that's why we have these freeze warnings. everybody in the purple, all in that freeze warning. also gaithersburg in month gom ri county. the briegt lu blue here over towards prince george's county and down toward the south round, fredericks burg. that is a frost advisory. you can get frost at about 38 degrees or lower. and that's where we're going to be in that realm. so watch out, bring in the plantds, bring in the pets. you always want to make sure the pets are safe when it gets this cold this early. clearing skies are going to allow things to drop. tomorrow, it's going to be rather cool. but with a return flow torment afternoon, and i do mean afternoon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00. but before noon, we talked about some really cool air.

temperatures move back to the 70s. same deal on monday as we're still in the 70s. but we could get some strong storms late monday night. tonight's lows, 20s. around 39 in d.c., but could be below freezing in monas irksz s. just know that as you step outside early in the morning. 28 to about 40 degrees. that's going to be in the city as you make your way in the day early tomorrowment question're going to start off quite cold. but, guys, a great fall afternoon. 58-63 degrees. winds will shift to the south and that will bring in 75 degrees on sunday. it will be rather windy with 20-30 mile an hour winds. warm on monday with a good chance of showers and then maybe thunderstorms. most of next week pretty good. all in all, not a bad forecast out there. we just have to get through this cold night. guys, i was at the stadium. i'm down there on nats park.
