when i asked him about that post-game. >> sometimes the designed run helps the quarterback. if we would have gotten the dropback pass with the defense today, and didn't have design runs, there would have been a number of sacks. that's one heck of a defensive front. the defense puts a lot of pressure on you. robert, by doing what he does, keeping the defense off-balance, gives him a chance in my opinion to stay healthier. >> what do you think about that? the designed run. do you have to run robert griffin iii for this offense to be successful? >> i think they're going to do what they like against whatever the opponent shows. i think they felt they could run the ball against the minnesota vikings. robert is available. you don't put him in a bad spot running the ball. he knows where the tackleers are coming from. he knows what his options are. he's not going to get hit in the back, blindsided. you don't know where everyone's coming from.

when it is a designed run, he has the ability to know where everyone is, and it just gives him such a future game plan with what he can do, with what the staff can do, with what the team can do. him having the ability to run the ball. alfred being able to run the ball, it will help him gain confidence in moving forward. >> the one thing we've seen is the fact that the defense, if this team has an achilles heel, which they do, it's the pass defense. but some way they're managing to find a different guy to step up in each of these wins. one is lorenzo alexander, he might be the most versatile player on this team. >> i think he is. first of all, i was thinking a little bit that i might play safety. but no, talking about lorenzo alexander, he's done everything that the staff has asked him. he's done everything that the organization has asked him.

he's been great on special teams. he shows up in every single play, usually making the tackle. it's about time he gets in on the defense and starts making big plays. he's a one-man game. he wrecked the ship. >> shop? >> ship. he's a pirate. >> we'll go with ship. it's my mr. rogers sweater. >> can we go back to the studio for a minute? is his outfit okay today? i got tweets saying he needed to dress up more. >> i think that cooley is representing quite well. so tell them to get over it. >> he does have a tie on. >> yeah. >> i was told by wendy last week not to wear a suit. she said, i don't look good in a suit. >> don't take all your fashion advice from wendy. >> i thought, no, way, i'm going with this ragged old sweatshirt.
6:50 pm
but i dressed up with a tie. >> i like it. quickly, guys, i want to hit on the defense and turnovers that they're causing. williams got an interception in the game, returned it for a touchdown. the defense has four defensive touchdowns which is the most since 1999. how can the defense allow so many points but force so many on turnovers? >> they've had so many problems with injuries, they're trying to mix it up. it's putting them in some advantageous situations, so they're getting turnovers and big plays. they have to find a way to shut down the passing game better. >> you want to take a look at this ravens/cowboys game. i know that you love anytime the cowboys can take a beating. >> it's my favorite. >> this was interesting. it moved to be very costly for the baltimore ravens, their win over the cowboys. the cowboys coming off a bye week, where the ravens were looking to stay undefeated. we pick it up in the third. after a field goal, dallas

kicking off to jacoby jones. he had to return it 108 yards for a touchdown. have you ever been returned one for a touchdown? >> i played flag football in fairfax county a couple years ago, and i did return a couple for a touchdown. i protected the flag. but if it was the nfl, i would have lost around the 50 yard line. i couldn't make it far. >> this is losing steam here. ray lewis tears a triceps. it's announced he's out for the season. a devastating blow for the ravens defense. and darius webb a torn acl. this year, it was wide. ravens are now 5-1. 31-29 is the final. but a huge loss for the ravens despite getting the win. you lose two studs on defense, that's not going to help you. we'll work on the wardrobe. maybe try to make everybody happy. we'll change it up a little bit next week. if you say cooley's fine,
6:52 pm
cooley's fine. >> here's my question, dan. i haven't seen you guys in the locker room before. it's kind of unusual to be live in the locker room, isn't it? >> you know, with cooley, really, anything is possible. it's starting to get cold outside, we thought there might be the threat of rain today. he made the request and hopefully we'll be here the rest of the season. >> most locker rooms stink. that one, too? >> it's not pleasant. >> thank you. all right. just wanted to keep it real. thank you very much, guys. up next, mystery of the [ mitt romney ] look at the evidence of the last four years.

under the president's policies, middle income americans have been buried. they're just being crushed. middle-income americans have seen their income come down by $4,300. this is a tax in and of itself. i'll call it the economy tax. i'm not going to raise taxes on anyone. my plan is to bring down rates to get more people working. my priority is putting people back to work in america. i'm mitt romney and i approve this message.

and beautiful. 73 both thursday and friday. right now, also looking good for the weekend. >> all right. we like that. thank you, doug. for years, archaeologists have been studying the remains of an old town in bulgaria. now they say they have determined it is in fact the oldest town in europe. they say the village was established 6,500 years ago. people settled in that region because of the large salt deposits nearby. the area is in fact the site of the first salt factory in europe. people molded the salt into the shape of bars, and stored it nearby. back in those days, salt was as valuable as oil is today. previously, archaeologists have come across stone walls nearby that date back to the same area, they say helped the
