and happy life, fighting for peace. he was 90 years old. >> a violent robbery sends one man to the hospital. he was shot and robbed on mcmahon road. he was taken to the hospital, but he should be okay. montgomery county police say they have identified the people that may be involved but so far no one is in custody. >> a 7-year-old girl is taken to the hospital after she was burned by anti-freeze. police say the girl was sprayed with the anti-freeze as the father worked on his car. she was flown to the washington burn center, no word on her condition this morning. >> and a man dies after a tree fell on top of him. this happened yesterday morning. witnesses say the man was cutting down the street with a family men when it suddenly

right now, thousands of people are racing in the army ten miler from northern virginia to the mall. >> and the first wave of racers are crossing the finish line, derek ward is there live. good morning. >> we're at a point right here where you can see the clean up going on at the start line, and off in the distance, you see the first wave of runners as they near the finish line. i want to show you a shot from our city cam. and it is a ten mile course with 30,000 runners. this is the third largest ten mile course in the world. there are some wounded warrior participants. we have seen them in the hand cycles and the wheelchairs that made it across.

they were the first wave to lead i want to show you the map this race took. they started here near the pentagon, crossed the memorial bridge. they took a circuit by the lincoln memorial. an iconic ruth, up to the west end of the capital, and back down to the title basin, and now across the 14th street bridge to make their way back here to the south end of the pentagon where the race is ending. and of course some of the street closures are still going on there because the last of those runners are making their way across the last of the course, and of course, again, you're encouraged to take an alternate root. now, benefits of this race go to benefit military families and their leisure and vacation efforts and things like that.

would ban all abortions and contraception seemed a bit extreme. so i looked into it. turns out, romney doesn't oppose contraception at all. in fact, he thinks abortion should be an option in cases of rape, incest, or to save a mother's life. this issue's important to me, but i'm more concerned about the debt our children will be left with. i voted for president obama last time, but we just can't afford four more years. there are more more people running that are just getting ready to go out for a run, jog, or dog walk. almost a mirror calm finish on the patomac. you see a little chop out there, and by a little i mean little waves. look at how the temperatures are responding. little sunshine on to what was a very chilly morning. climbing into the mid-50s. and then zipping into the upper 60s to near 70s today. no weather concerns at all. everybody likes to see a check of the doppler. there it is, check it out, nothing showing up this morning, no rain drops on the mid-atlantic right now. a couple drops in upstate new

york that will not bother us at all. and we have clear skies on the way, so expect a beautiful sunshine filling sunday afternoon today. clear skies will set the stage for another chilly start on your monday morning. most locations back down into the 30s and 40s for most. i this it will be a couple degrees cooler tomorrow. but a big warm up is on the way, high pressure moving in, that same area put temperatures into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees in the dakotas, and that warm air is coming our way. the redskins and the giants, a 1:00 to 4:00 game, and it's beautiful and sunny in the big apple. mostly sun nye and middle here from the blue ridge to the bay today, get outside and enjoy it if you can. tomorrow were more of the same, a lot of people stuck in work

hours because of a problem with a construction project there. the crews were trying to replace one of the bridges when something went wrong. they had to return the bridge to it's original position. >> this morning, two dc neighborhoods near college campuses are on alert after disturbing attacks. early yesterday morning, the students returned to their off campus apartment. that man instruction both students and fled towards campus. also, yesterday morning, a man was stabbed just as homecoming festivities were under way at howard university. this happens just off campaign along georgia avenue. he was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive. since the start of the semester, cam pus police say theres that been a spike in crimes in

particular robberies and assaults. >> lawmakers and assaults in one part of dc want people to come out in the name of safety. the festival is today at third and d street southeast. businesses, schools, and civic groups will be there to promote safety. there will be food, drinks, and even a fire truck demo, donations at the event will benefit the family of thomas mazlin who was beaten and robbed back in august. >> a driver crashes into a day care center. she swerved to avoid another car and drove straight into the joy of learning child ware center. no one informs the building at the time and the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. school children finding way to honor those who died in the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

they are planting 3,000 daffodil bulbs. it's part of the daffodil project that started back in 2010 as a memorial to the victims of the attacks. since then nearly 3 million daffodil bulbs have been planted. it's one of the largest volunteer efforts in the history of the city. >> it's a bulb, you put it in the ground and it grows. >> coming up, snl takes a swipe at the issue issues. >> the unusual sight that greeted the pope at the as governor, i cut five billion dollars in spending and balanced the budget every year. and tim kaine and i both cut our own pay as governors, to lead by example. mark warner and i reached across party lines to get things done.

today. it's now 9:47. hope you're off to a good start. a little cool out there first thing this morning, but it will be iced coffee weather back in the nation's capital before this upcoming week it through. make your plans, pick your favorite coffee shot, and get ready for your iced mocha as temperatures promise to get close to 80 degrees. 54 now at national airport. the wind remains calm at the observation point at the airport. having just been on the front lawn, i can fell you there is a hunt of a breeze. leesburg and ashburg, and in the 50s, i heard it, what about the ravens forecast, the texans are

at the ravens, near perfect weather for a ravens win, and just up i-95 where the giants and redskins are playing also perfect weather. quiet weather building in not just for today, but most of the job coming week. you see here a little fog out here west of the shenandoah valley all starting to burn off. so a beautiful day coming today. temperatures pretty close to where we were yesterday. yesterday national airport topped out at 69 degrees. we'll be within a whisper of that. another chilly start coming up for your monday morning, so a little mutt of a bundle up factor. then the warm up really starts to push in here as we get into the tuesday and wednesday time frame, sunny, middle, and spectacular outside today.
