it was september 17th when marck marckel ross was killed on his way to school here in capitol heights. to this day, prince george's county police have no suspects into the murder. this morning the police will be out between 6:00 and 8:00 a.m. between rollins avenue and central park drive. the detectives are hoping to locate an unidentified person they believe may have been robbed the same morning marckel was killed. according to prince george's police, that person did not report the robbery, and investigators hope that person may have information as to a possible description of the person they are looking for. if you have any information, prince george's police would love to hear from you. we are live in capitol heights, tony tull. police are searching for a person who attacked a woman jogging in bethesda.

the attack happened around 7:00 on the capitol crescent trail near borookaway drive. the 27-year-old woman was knocked unconscious and dragged back into the woods. when she woke up, she found her way back into the trail. police are trying to figure out who was behind women being groped inside an elevator of a northwest apartment building. this happened in the 3000 block of van ness street. the most recent attack happened this past week. neighbors say that police haven't been able to identify the man caught on surveillance cameras. police believe the man is in his mid-40s, about 5'6", and they say he has an accent. now to decision 2012. election day more than two days away, but some d.c. residents can begin casting their ballots this week. early voting begins in the district.

this comes as president obama and mitt romney get ready to square off in their final debate tonight. the candidates are tied amongst likely voters in the latest nbc news/wall street journal poll. the president led by three points before that first debate. ♪ . it just isn't the candidates hitting the campaign trail. bruce springsteen will be performing on behalf of the campaign tomorrow in charlottesville, virginia. the free event will take place at the downtown mall. the boss has also played in ohio and iowa for the president's re-election campaign. meanwhile, romney isn't saying whether he'd be open to one-on-one talks with iran over the nuclear many practice. they asked him about it as he watched a touch football game between his staff and reporters covering his campaign.

romney wouldn't answer. the issue of iran is likely to be one of the key questions at tonight's debate. the u.s. may not be close to sitting down with iran to discuss its nuclear program after all. the white house is denying a new york times report that the two sides have agreed in principal to one-on-one talks. a national security council spokesman says iran will continue to face sanctions unless they can prove their nuclear program is peaceful. the program has continued to progress despite harsh penalties from the u.s. and its allies. a developing story out of lebanon. troops continue to battle sunni and shiite gunmen. at least six people were wounded in the latest fighting. lebanon's anti-syria intelligence chief was killed in a car many bombing. many intelligence officials and protesters blame syria for that death. the redskins make a move to

it's the mayor's medal of honor for the security guard wounded at mathe family researc council in august. mayor gray will present the medal to leon johnson later this morning. a man walked into the christian group's office, made comments about their policies, and shot johnson in the arm. still johnson was able to restrain him before he got any further into the building. at the live desk, melissa mollet, news 4. frightening video from southern california where a fire bomb attack rocked a convenience store. this man reportedly threw a molotov cocktail at a man in what police call an unprovoked attack. a woman and her child nearby were able to get away in time. police are still trying to figure out who did it and why. at 6:15, police say the man accused of opening fire at a wisconsin day spa slashed his wife's tires two weeks ago. police say 45-year-old radcliffe

haughton's wife had a restraining order against him. yesterday haughton walked into the brook field spa where she worked and started shooting. three were killed and four others hurt. it's not clear whether haughton's wife is among the victims. witnesses say they heard gunfire and saw smoke shortly after haughton walked into the building. >> we saw all the cops pulling guns out of their car and putting on vests. >> i saw a girl in her 20s holding a paper towel to her neck because she was bleeding from the neck. >> police spent hours searching for haughton. they found him dead inside the spa from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. police say it could take weeks to flesh out the motive for the killing. jordan says it foiled an attempt to attack malls in the country. that includes the u.s. embassy in i man. jordan intelligence officials say the men planned on using weapons they smuggled in from

neighboring syria. al qaeda operatives in iraq had also been helping the militants make explosives. former cuban leader fidel castro criticized a report that said he was on his death bed. he wrote an article saying he doesn't remember what a headache feels like. just this morning, venezuela's former vice president released a picture of castro. he said the two met for five hours over the weekend at a hotel in cuba. a new study found farmers drilling deep wells over the past 50 years contributed to a deadly earthquake in southern spain. a 5.1 magnitude quake hit last may, killing nine people and injuring 300 others. researchers using satellite imageers said the quake was caused by where farmers drill

2014. this morning the busy metro station is open with escalators. the south entrance of the dupont circle metro station is back in business. news 4's megan mcgrath gave them a ride already. good morning, megan. >> yeah, and we're going to take another ride. here they are, the brand new escalators at the south entrance of the dupont circle metro station. been waiting 8 1/2 months for these things to open up here. the official ribbon cutting ceremony was yesterday. today is the first rush hour test of these escalators. so are far, so good. if you were familiar with the old escalators, you know they were old, unreliable, and broke down all the time. the manufacturer was out of business. so getting replacement parts was nearly impossible. over 100 steps up to street level. when the escalators would go down, it was a real hardship for people.

county. police say a driver hit the man walking on the street saturday afternoon in the 2000 block of university boulevard if adelphi. the driver then took off. the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. police believe the driver may have been racing a second car. that crash near university boulevard and riggs road. police arrested that driver. time is 6:35. prince george's county will pay about $3.6 million to ten people who were either falsely arrested or injured by police after a maryland-duke basketball game. $2 million will go to john mckenna. he was seen on video being beaten by police as students celebrated the win in march of 2010. one of the officers was convicted of second degree assault. he'll face you will to ten years behind bars. the pharmacy at the center of the nationwide meningitis outbreak is facing a wave of lawsuits. at least 12 people who received steroid injections made by the

new england compounding center have filed complaints. health experts believe more lawsuits will be filed in the coming weeks. the massachusetts pharmacy is being blamed for tainted steroid shots. 23 people have died from the meningitis outbreak, including 2 people in virginia and 1 in maryland. another 285 people are sick. george allen will be campaigning in our area today. virginia's republican senate nominee will appeal to jewish voters who he has breakfast at the jewish community center in fairfax. democrat tim kaine will be there for lunch on wednesday. both men are looking to succeed democrat jim webb, who is not running for re-election. this morning we're learning some details about the tributes to the late senator and former presidential candidate george mcgovern. he passed away yesterday at the age of 90. a public viewing will be held in sioux falls, south dakota, and followed by a prayer service.

massacmaste mastercard advisers says the election will have an impact on their finances. 44% believe the economy is stable, and only a quarter think it will improve over the next six months. a good percentage of people say they're living paycheck to paycheck. their top worries include loss of income and debt. meanwhile, nissan is recalling 14,000 altimas from the 2012/2013 model years. bolts in the power steering system could become loose and fall out, increasing the risk of a crash. the recall will begin next week, and dealers will tighten the bolts properly. separately, nissan will begin offering a cheaper version of its electric vehicle, the leaf. they sold fewer than 12,000 in the first half of the year. it's well below its tar get. >> folks are still a little leery of the electric cars. >> just a little.
