>> here, in washington, we could see some strong winds and heavy rain this weekend. there's also potential for significant power outages. >> for a closer look at the storm, here's doug cameron. >> yeah, guys, we have a lot of time to watch this storm, obviously over the next three or four days, our forecast is going to get better and better. a significant threat is imposed up the east coast. that storm strengthening waiting for the latest add vie ri. the eye of the storm very well defined here for jamaica and cuba. it could be very close to category ii strike. let's take a look and see if we've got the latest data in here. right now, it looks like we're seeing that data a little bit late. 85 mile an hour winds is the latest advisory. it will continue to move its way up the close. and as it does, it's going to move towards the eastern coast

the tape shows a worker asking the man identified as patrick moran. he says he's a concerned democrat looking for a way to skirt virginia voter id laws by casting phony ballots for people who are unlikely to show up at the polls. at time, moran tries to encourage focusing, instead, on a legitimate get-out-the-vote effort. but within minutes of the tape, patrick moran quit. >> reporter: moran's father, jim, is the long-time virginia congressman from the 8th district whose campaign tonight

says patrick is well-liked and well respected member of the campaign team. this incident was clearly an error in judgment. i spoke tonight by phone with the controversial head with project varitas whose undercover operations were done in the pastz. >> it's a problem, period. it's not necessarily a left or right issue. it's a fact and it needs to be addressed. moran's challenger in the 8th district race patrick murray released a statement on facebook. after seeing this video, i'm very concerned about the campaign activities of my o poent. he goes onto say while it's not clear or not whether there was any wrong doing, i hope that local, state and federal election officials will look into this matter immediately. >> thanks, jim. just a few minutes ago, president obama was on "the tonight show" with jay leno.

he criticized richard maurdoch. he said last night that pregnancy after rape is something god intended to happen. tonight, the president said rape is rape. mitt rom neromney's campaig disagrees. however, romney still supports maurdoch. republican john mccain said tonight he will not support him until he apologizes. the president talks about his hectic schedule tonight. >> we started our 48 hour campaign marathon extravaganza. we started in iowa. we went to denver. we're here, we're growioing to nevada and then we will red-eye to florida -- >> you mean redbull to florida? >> yeah.

passers by who were passing by the short cul-de-sac start to see the smoke and pulled up, started blowing the horns making sure that no one is still inside the house and that people know the fire was actually -- this house is actually indeed, on fire. it went to two alarms, as we said. firefighters began that tack inside. they were able to get out safely. the fire -- the home, at this point, looks like a total loss at this point. that has not completely been determined. investigators say they will get back into this house probably tomorrow. once they make sure it's structurally safe and they have the added benefit of light of day. at this point, it's still under investigation. unfortunately, no one hurt at this house fire in lowden. >> tonight, several students from poolsville high school were on the bus when the crash happened.

no one on the bus was hurt. police are still investigating what caused that crash. >> funeral arrangements are now in place for a prince george's county police officer who was killed in a car crash. kech b kevin bowden died last tuesday. the first viewing will be friday night at lee's funeral home in clinton. his funeral will be held this weekend. >> the man accused of shooting a security guard at the family research council in d.c. was chargedcommitting an act of terror. floyd lee corkins faces several new charges. the charge carries up to a 30-year prison sentence. corkins is due back in court on friday. >> the news 4 iteam uncovered more ballot problems. thousands of voters may have received more than one copy of their absentee ballot.

the board of elections brought out extra elections after discovering that postal bar codes may have been wrong. if you receive two ballots, only one will be counted. >> the f.b.i. has reports of voter sbim kags. residents got official letters warning them that their citizenship may be in question and may not be able to te. both democrats and republicans have received the letters that were postmarked from seattle washington. >> scary scene for a political supporter in leesburg. libbey steven's dogs woke her up at about 2:00 in the morning. she called police and said she believes somebody set the fire intentionally. >> it's one thing to spray paint

somewhere out there tonight are two pit bulls that attacked a woman in northeast washington. it is the second attack on a person in that area in the last month. the woman was cornered by the pit bulls while walking her dogs near 15th and "d" street yesterday. a business owner helped chase the dogs away. just two weeks ago, just a few blocks away. the man says two pit bulls cornered him and one bit him. >> i have bite marks from his upper jaw and his lower jaw rammed and there's black and blue bruises over about a five-inch area. >> in both cases, the victims say the dogs were off leash.

and they did not have any tags. >> 39-year-old francisco javier solorio was attacked. researchers confirmed the shark was a great white between 15 and 16 feet long. two years ago, a 19-year-old was killed by a shark at the same beach. >> three of the district's five most busy and most lucrative speed cameras. together, those cameras issued more than 200 thousand tickets. those tickets have generated more than $20 million for the city. >> pumpkins and goblins decorate yards hinting at what's to come. halloween is just around the corner. some people are taking a dramatic approach to celebrate the season. erica gonzalez is live in leesburg to explain.

opportunity to be a kid. live in leesburg tonight, erica gonzalez, news 4. >> thanks, erica. we go to weather right now. there's a hurricane out there that could have a significant impact on our weather. >> yeah, i think it's going to have a significant impact from our area maybe up to new england. right now, you can see that this is the enhanced infrared satellite picture. you can see it's a very well defined storm. this could be strong category two, maybe category three with the pressure. but right now, it's coming in just out from the hurricane center. show you that in just a second. take a look at some of the video. out of jamaica a little earlier, sandy was slamming that island. numerous people, about 90% of jamaica without power as that storm has made its way on flu here. take a look at the latest data. the winds are up to 90 miles an hour.

i think it will keep hurricane strength as it does cross cuba. that's the latest forecast keeping it as as category 1 storm. just off the miami coast. miami, maybe 50-60 mile an hour winds. not a direct hit for them, but still some impact for the miami area and portions of south florida. it moves up and then back out to sea. well, the latest models bringing it up and back in, believe it or not, as it interacts with a big area of low pressure on land. so we're going to watch this very cloesely and it's where tht interaction takes place that could bring that storm up towards our way or up towards boston. here's our latest thinking here with this storm. saturday, no problems here. i think saturday is looking like a pretty nice day with increasing clouds. biggest threat. you have a low threat from this storm and towards the carolinas and a pretty high threat along the north carolina close, especially the outerbanks.

as we move on sunday, a high threat along the delmarva. if the storm is able to come in towards our area, a little bit quicker, and i think this could happen to us. we have a very high threat of wind and rain. even around the i-95 kwcorridor this area could be read. we will have low impact storms here with wind and rain. so, once again, we're going to be watching this very closely. as far as our weather is concerned today, we saw a great day. this is the biggest issue, i think, most likely along the mid at lantic in the northeast, power outages across the entire area. today, for us, we saw a high of 84 degrees. that's a record, tieing a record set back in 2001 around the region, we are extremely mild for this time of year. no worries tomorrow morning.

would ban all abortions and contraception seemed a bit extreme. so i looked into it. turns out, romney doesn't oppose contraception at all. in fact, he thinks abortion should be an option in cases of rape, incest, or to save a mother's life. this issue's important to me, but i'm more concerned about the debt our children will be left with. i voted for president obama last time, but we just can't afford four more years.
