continuing our coverage of hurricane sandy this morning we saw this morning go down to a tropical storm, back up to a hurricane. >> she may vary a little and go back to tropical storm briefly and then back to hurricane. it is going to hover in the 70 to 80-mile-per-hour sustained winds. 74 or higher makes it a hurricane. when it dropped to 70 it was a tropical storm. back to 75 a hurricane. it's all going to be very strong and have a huge impact on the eastern seaboard here. primarily on monday and tuesday. i know you were concerned. a lot of people have big halloween plans. halloween is on wednesday. be on the lookout.

welcome back everyone. it seems to be the golden question. we have our viewer asking is there an exact area where this thing will hit? >> no there is not. there is still a great deal of uncertainty where this storm is going to go and when it will get there. a pretty bold prediction on most of our parts and i think somewhere on the coast of new jersey late monday night into predawn hours of tuesday morning. that is as close as narrowing it down as i would dare go this far out in advance. that said the official track from the hurricane center shows

it could make landfall anywhere from the delaware coast all the way up to long island. >> that's a lot. >> a very wide area. it is still a long ways away. it still has to go off the outer banks then make the turn back to the coast line. there are too many variables in play now to say with any real certainty exactly where it'll go and when it will get there. all i can tell you is this. it is a big storm with an enormous wind field and enormous amount of rainfall potential coming along with it. so it will impact all of the northeastern part of the united states. all will be impacted. wherever the center line of the storm goes we'll worry about that when it gets closer but for now everybody really from virginia beach all the way up to the coast be preparing for wind and rain in excess. outside we'll take a check now of your outside conditions. mostly cloudy skies for now. we're getting a few slivers of sunshine through but it won't last too terribly much longer. enjoy the sunshine while you can

get it. the very latest position on hurricane sandy and it is back up to a hurricane now puts it about 330 miles to the southeast of charleston, south carolina. movement of the storm now is to the north-northeast at ten miles per hour. it is going to continue to do that paralleling the coast line with the northeasterly track for the next couple days. this is sunday afternoon at 4:00 somewhere off the coast of cape hatteras. probably a high end tropical storm to a low end category 1 hurricane. then that is when all the real uncertainty comes into play is when does it make the turn and how hard of a turn does it make? if it makes a hard left turn it comes down into the lower end of the bay and anywhere inside of this cone is a possibility to see this storm. don't focus on the center line. remember that the tropical storm force winds extend out several hundred miles away from the center so the center line looks to be aiming somewhere under the jersey coast line. i think that's our best guess now. somewhere on the coast of new jersey probably along about late monday night early tuesday then
