dramatic temperature swings coming our way. veronica johnson to till us when all this is going to happen. veronica? >> even out there right now, jim, our temperatures are way up. we have a much easier morning coming our way. i think tomorrow will be one of the best days, of the workweek. take a look at the temperatures behind me now. rockville, maryland. sitting at 44 degrees right now. 4 degrees in restin, virginia. 50, warrenton. 49 degrees in huntingtown right now. plenty warm out there. if you haven't been outside. for early tomorrow morning, we're going to see sitting in the upper 30s. there you are at, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 a.m. there will be fog around the area tomorrow morning. and becoming patchy by the time we get to late morning. already, by the time we get to the noon hour. we'll hit 45 degrees for a top by 11:00 a.m. we'll be well on our way with the significant warm-up taking place midweek. so, these are the temperatures. we'll get something else that, we are not going to like with

the higher temperatures. i'll explain in a couple minutes. >> thank you, veronica. tonight we are hearing the frantic calls for help after a plane plunged into the icy hudson river near new york city. tonight with some of the life 911 calls. wendy? >> reporter: wait until you hear the calls. amazing when you hear it. this plane as you can imagine filling up with water after it crashes. two people are on board. they have to act quickly so they can get out before it sinks. this is a small piper aircraft. goes down in the hudson river, near yonkers, westchester county north of manhattan. carrying the pilot, passenger. on a sightseeing trip. and this frantic 911 call, describes the scene as the dispatcher tells the pilot to get out before it is too late. how many people on board? >> we have life preservers. >> are you in the water now. >> in the water.

filling up. we are going down. we are going down. >> okay. >> sir, i need you to get out of the plane and let me know when you're out. >> i'm out of the plane. i'm going to lose you. i'm going to lose you. the water's freezing. i'm not going to make it to shore. >> okay, we have an officer en route ande have a boat en route. >> okay. i am going to lose you. >> you have to remember they're going into icy, icy water. they did manage to get out. managed to stay afloat. they got their life vests on. the police officers and retired detective took a boat out to rescue them. both were taken to a local hospital, treated for hypothermia and are expected to be okay. so the ntsb is investigating this obviously. and, ironically, 4 years ago this month, captain sully sullenberger safely landed the u.s.airways flight on the hudson river, all 155 on board the flight, got out. survived and have a great story

to tell about miracle on the hudson. become to you. >> thank you, wendy. >> a new video shows a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in northwest d.c. surveillance video shows the suspect near the crime scene. police say that attack happened on sunday, january 20th. in the 1,400 block of florida avenue northwest. if you recognize the man, you are asked to call the police. >> funerals began today for the 233 people who were killed in a nightclub fire in southern brazil. pyrotech ni pyrotechnics started the fire. the club had one exit. confused people rushed to the door. but security guard actually stopped them from leaving. the guards thought the people were trying to skip out on their bar tabs. survivors described a kay yotic scene. >> what did you see? >> people crying.

people dying in my sight. i lost very special people to me. >> brazilian authority arrested the club's co-owner and two band members today. almost half the victims attended a university nearby the club. question is, could something like that happen here? local fire department say, they do regular inspections at clubs to make sure they're up to code. most jurisdictions do not allow pyrotechnic shows. officials say a fire is always possible. clubs need to have several safety systems. there should be lit exit signs. and pull down fire alarm triggers. smoke detectors and sprinklers are a must. and there should always be a second exit. >> kids in arlington, should be back in class tomorrow after getting a day off today because of the weather. arlington was the only school district inside the beltway that opted to close rather than have a two-hour delay this morning. many parents were confused and angry about the decision,

new video shows the aftermath of a terrible bus ride in new york city. tran it o transit officials say the bus driver blacked out with his foot on the gas. manhattan's upper eastside earlier tonight. riders were specreaming as the s sped up and hit cars. a passenger, jumped up and grabbed the wheel is called a hero. dozens treated for minor injuries. the bus driver is in the hospital. no word on what caused hem to pass out.

>> great thinking by a man on a motorcycle at the intersection. probably saved his life. look at this. the truck made the turn. then flipped over as the rider quickly moved backward. it happened at a busy intersection in china. despite the close call, the driver and the truck driver were both okay. >> still, no verdict in the child of a form trial of a police officer charged with murder. former culpeper officer, white, claims he shot 54-year-old patricia cook in self-defense. it happened last february. cook had been accused of trespassing and reportedly refused to leave the parking lot at a private school. she was not armed. if convicted, white faces anywhere from a year to life in prison. >> tomorrow, we expect to hear from the soldier recovering from a milestone surgery after losing all four limbs in iraq.

brendon morocco received a double arm transplant at johns hopkins university. injured on eastern in iraq in 2009. his father says the first quadruple amputee to survive the injuries. the on raegs wperation was perft month. his father says he is excited to get new arms. much more on the remarkable surgery on news 4. >> the super bowl sunday comes with extra excitement for a family who had a difficult year. vernon davis was raised in the city by his grand mother who still lives in northwest. but before davis made news for, going to the super bowl, his younger brother michael was named as the suspect in a deadly attack with a hammeren the s ei city. awaiting trial on murder and assault charges now. despite the challenges, davis' grand mother says vernon is ready. >> i am excited, very excited. you can't be nervous.
