line in springfield and both of the issues are now all cleared up. you can expect more delays on several other metro lines however, four stations on the blue and orange lines are closed, and those are capital south and eastern market and potomac avenue, and minnesota avenue, and deanwood is also closed. and metro will single track on the green and yellow lines from 10:00 tonight until closing. a traffic alert for you. if you are driving in montgomery avenue near the wheaton metro station, it will be challenging today. crews will shut downpourtions. they are removing a crane at the construction site, and you can travel southbound. those lanes will remain open. new this morning, chris kyle was the author of the

chilly day today, with passing light snow flurries and showers. that's about all i can bring you. it's warmer than yesterday. >> hurry back in. this morning police in boston said a bus full of students should never have been on the road it was traveling on when it crashed into a bridge. it was full of philadelphia high school students and chaperons. they just visited harvard university last night and more than 30 people injured and three seriously. the bus clipped an overpass. the driver could be charged for failing to see the sign prohibiting a vehicle of its height. we have entered the sixth day of a tense hostage situation in alabama. right now police are negotiating with a man that shot and killed a bus driver, and then took off with a 5-year-old boy. today funeral services will be held for that bus driver. 66-year-old charles poland junior. the man stopped the bus and shot the driver and fled with the boy and is keeping the boy in an

underground bunker right now. and you can see the bright flames and smoke coming out of the home on harmony hall road in gaithersburg. investigators think the fire started in the basement. took more than a dozen firefighters to put it out but nobody was injured. there's concern about prince georges county fire department, and the plan to reorganize the staff. some will be resigned from the branchville and boulevard heights and west hill firefighter stations to other stations in the county. some residents worry the cuts could jeopardize public safety. >> volunteers are here in the evening and weekends, but during the day you have to have coverage in the area. there's just too many people in a small area that we need the coverage. >> the prince georges county fire chief says there's overlap and residents will not lose coverage with the changes and

the changes go into effect march 3rd. and a man charged with the beating death of his wife is in the hospital after going on a hunger strike. he is in critical condition at a local hospital. he faces a first-degree murder charge for the death of 91-year-old draft. he says the result was an iranian hit that was for him. and students may not have any ownership over the work. the county board of education is proposing a measure that would copy right work created by staff and students at the schools, and they want to copy right it and name it as their own, and meaninglessens and drawings, and the proposal has education activist concerns. if approved the county would be the first in the area to adopt such a rule. lawmakers in virginia could

start tomorrow could crack down on texting while driving. a senate committee will decide to make it a primary offense meaning the officers can stop a driver solely for texting. another bill proposes making it a reckless driving offense which can result up to a year in jail. starting tomorrow, metro will shut down the pentagon station south entrance. the agency is replacing three escalators. they will be similar to those recently installed at the system's dupont circle station. and the north entrance will remain open during the escalator work. new information on the breaking news we are following in gaithersburg. firefighters are now clearing the scene of a fire at junior's chicken, on diamond avenue. you are looking at live pictures. still an active scene, and firefighters remain in place and the fire is out but we don't

it's the highlight of victor's school day. one of the assistants was there to help him get to the pool. instead of a hi-five, he likes to touch fingers to say hello and good luck. with that he was on his way to his favorite thing. his expressions show how happy victor is when he knows he is about to go for a swim. that smile is almost ear to ear, and everybody that knows him says this is just the happiest time of his day. victor is a foster child. at 12 years old, he has spent his whole life so far in temporary care until a permanent family can be found. >> what a smile! >> reporter: that smile never leaves his face. >> he was diagnosed with s
