two teenagers shot just minutes after a news conference on gun violence. in prince george's county this evening. one now dead.

and an 18-year-old from suitland high school, a day after a student from the same school was gunned down over a pair of shoes. >> team coverage as a community calls for change. first to tonight's scene, and shomari stone live in forestville. >> well, tonight, right now police are canvassing the area searching for answers. words can't describe what i feel today. >> reporter: cindy jones is an algebra teacher at suitland high school to. night another one of her students is killed in a shooting. >> i am trembling with grief. this has got to stop. >> reporter: 5:35, police called to an apartment complex in forestville. they find two teenagers shot. one died. the other critical condition. >> detectives are working to establish a know tiff motive.

>> reporter: it comes a day after a 15-year-old suitland student was shot to death. police believe he was targeted for shoes he was carrying in a shopping bag. >> there is nothing to indicate that this case is connected to the murder. at this point, detectives are canvassing the apartment complex to find out any information. >> senseless murders. senseless! >> reporter: now several people in the apartment complex tell me that they heard seven shots fired. but they refuse to talk on camera because they tell me that they're scared. live here in forestville, shomari stone, news 4. >> these are the faces of teenage gun violence in prince george's county. six students killed this school year. tonight, heartbroken leaders are demanding action. jim rosenfeld outside suitland high school. jim? >> jim, here we are. for the second night in a row with a staemetement. horrified at the death of two students in the past 24 hours.

we cannot go another day without addressing these unspeakable acts of violence they say. in all, six dead teenagers in the county since august. authorities here signaling youth violence reached a tipping point. the faces of teens who died since the start of the school year in prince george's county. amber, marcel, marcus, chuck. lives cut short by guns. the youngest, 14. the oldest 18. and every age in between. from drive-byes to robberies. killings by gangs on the streets to mysterious deaths in their own bedrooms. listen and you hear students here speak of life lessons fueled by fear of guns. >> it is scary. li like you never know when your last day could be. it's like you could get killed for nothing. wouldn't be your fault. because some one has a gun. the bullet could be aimed for you. >> law enforcement authorities

gather to discuss the last night's shooting over a par of shoes, they didn't yet know suitland was losing another teenage student. yet they were already speaking of the need for change. >> i stand here to day with our state's attorney and the director of school security to collectively proclaim our resolve to engage the necessary partners to stop violence against young people. >> something greater has to be done. we need our parents to wrap their arms around their children to teach them the proper val use. go to school, work hard, then buy ten ills shoes. we don't kill individuals for tennis shoes. >> the state's attorney says this is not a crime spree. this is a social issue. and to that end authorities say they are forming a strategy. forming partnerships in the community to include, nonprofits and the interfaith community to try how to address this problem. security here at suitland high school will be stepped up again tomorrow. and counselors will also be on hand. live in suitland.

jim roenfield. news 4. >> news of a natural gas explosion in one of kansas city's famous and oldest neighborhood. the blast sent more than a dozen to the hospital. in the country club plaza area after 7:00 after a utility crew ran into a gas line. people felt the blast from blocks away. flames and smoke shot several stories into the sky. at least 14 people are in the hospital. three people are still unaccounted for. witnesses say they were already being told to head for safety before the explosion. due off to the strong smell of gas. >> he told us to evacuate. next thing i know -- boom. everything just exmroploded. destroyed j.j.'s restaurant one of the best in the midwest. cause of the fire under

that day they had no idea their lives were just about to change forever. tc was found unconscious on this porch near eastern market. he had been brutally beaten. the victim of an assault and robbery. he suffered a severe, traumatic brain injury that left him unable to talk, read or use the right side of his body. the doctors warned abby hissing pronoes il prognosis was grim. >> tc was in the hospital for three months after he was attacked that night in august. he left the hospital in d.c. in a wheelchair. and this is where he has been recovering ever since. and making amazing progress. >> i think i am really am doing a lot better. >> this is tc and abby today. they left the city and moved to a place where they can heal physically and emotionally. >> i feel about three times my age, most days. but it really has made me so much more aware of other people

going through difficult circumstances like this. >> can you characterize how far tc has come since this happened in august to today? >> the very first few weeks he was in and out of a coma and thrashing and there wasn't even a personality in there. >> but now tc its getting become to his old self. relearning to talk and read. spending hours each week in therapy at the hospital. at home with abby she is a former d.c. school teacher. they set up their own make shift classroom where they work every day on cognitive and motor skills. >> i am just focused on it. i just want to do it. i have got a long ways to go, to be honest. so, i'm not worrying about that, and i'm just going to move forward, keep working on it. >> abby chronicled the fame flow's journey in a blog that has gotten half a million hits so far. it's full of raw emotion. shifting between darkness and hope. and gratitude. cathartic for cabbie to write

a truck plowed into this home in woodbridge. police tell us they stole the vehicle after sneaking out of a juvenile shelter monday. truck rammed through the living room narrowly missing a 5-year-old girl inside. no one was hurt. a still lar scene in maryland hereafter a car ran across the front lawn and slammed into the front of this house in glendale. the car landed in the den. no one was home at the time. the driver is listed in fair condition. fire and death investigation near reston town center took a turn today when we learned the victim was pregnant. family members say 38-year-old jennifer pearson was expecting found dead after an apartment fire in the waterside apartments yesterday morning. sources close to the investigation tell news 4 police are looking into the possibility fee that some one killed pearson and set the fire on purpose. neighbors reported hearing an argument before the fire started. >> tonight a mother is taking action after her son's tragic death. she filed a $20 million lawsuit against a psychologist who

testified it was safe for her son to have an unsupervised visit with his father. he is now charged with murdering the 15-year-old. he drowned at his father's home in manassas last fall. it alleges dr. margaret wong's evaluation was inaccurate and contributed to a family court judge granting the visits. >> there is no price, or there is no lawsuit that is going to bring him back. but what i can do as his mom is i can make sure that nobody will forget him. >> ashburn psychological services which is also named in the lawsuit has not responded to requests for comment. troubling report from a virginia based security firm find china's military is stealing american secrets. tomorrow the white house is expected to lay out a plan against cyberspying. according to the report the chinese military is connected to security breaches that compromise more than 140

34, manassas. wind gusting upwards of 30 miles an hour off to the west. we are starting to see the wind chills really take a tumble. storm team 4 radar. nothing around our region. to the west. few snow showers. allegheny county. washington county. these are not going to hold together once they make their way over the mountains. during the day tomorrow. i wouldn't be surprised to see one, two, pop across the region. don't expect much from those. most of date should see sunshine. tomorrow, will be cold. and tomorrow, will be windy. the same thing goes for the day, on thursday. even though we have high pressure moving in. early in the day. still going to be cold, windy. then on friday. the wind starts to go away. the cold air remains in place. our next storm system, once again. a very, very weak storm system moves across the area. with enough cold air. this will start as snow. could change to freezing rain. sleet across the region. we have a little winter weather coming friday. the timing of this, about 10:00 friday morning. you noticing the time here.

and, it is snowing back towards the west. don't think this will impact our rush hour friday morning. but something we are going to watch. right now. only about 1/10 inch precipitation. does not mean a whole lot. nothing to get worried about. this is what i am worried about. i have to walk my son to school early in the morning. 23, washington, future wind chills. 19, 15 in frederick. 21, manassas. tomorrow afternoon. wind chill of 23. 28, manassas. watch where we go early thursday morning. the teens. single digits. hagerstown at 9. 12 in frederick. 16, manassas. 16 near fredericksburg. cold air making its way in. tomorrow morning. windy, cold. wind chills in the teens. actual temperatures between 23, 28 degrees. ve on through the next few days. high of 40 thursday. with the wind we stay in the 20s and 30s. wind chill. the chance for rain, snow friday. another chance of shower activity on saturday. this would be all rain.
