in all six students from prince george's county victims of violence in this school year ahead. first breaking news in the oscar pistorius court hearing. >> aaron, good morning. we have new details out of the hearing. with the track star back in court, police testified they found testosterone and needles for injecting at the olympian's home. the defense saying it wasn't steroids but an herbal remedy. cops admit they got the name of the substance wrong. we also heard from a neighbor who heard loud fighting before the shooting and the angle of the bullets shot through that bathroom door. prosecutors saying it shows the athlete was wearing his prosthetics at the time. pistorius was charged with the premeditated murder of his girlfriend. with his off shore accounts and house in italy, make him a flight risk. pistorius could face more

no reports of accidents at this time. thank you, danella. suitland high school is mourning the death of another student. counselors will remain at the high school for the rest of this week to help students and staff cope with the latest tragedy. >> news 4's megan mcgrath joins us live with more. megan. >> reporter: aaron and eun, the loss of one student is terrible. but here at suitland high school, two students have been murdered in a 24-hour period. investigators do not believe that these murders are connected. but rather, part of a larger disturbing trend that is playing out in the prince george's county school system. six students have been murdered so far this school year. the latest murder happened at 5:30 tuesday evening. an 18-year-old freshman was gunned down in an apartment complex on donnell drive in forestville. a second person was also injured in that and is listed as grave at a local hospital.

grave condition. the murder comes 24 hours after the death of 15-year-old charles walker jr., also a freshman at suitland high school. police say he was killed over a pair of shoes that he was carrying in a shopping bag. now, cindy jones is an algebra teacher. she came to the scene of the murder last night. she's very concerned about the murders taking so many lives. >> words can't describe what i feel today. i am tremble right now about grief. this has to stop somewhere. it's terrible. these kids are retaliating for nothing. senseless murders. senseless. >> and the prince george's county school put out this statement. our hearts are broken again. we cannot go another day without addressing these unspeakable acts much violence against our students. there's going to be extra security here at suitland high school today and for the rest of the week. teachers are holding a meeting to discuss how they can best

help students in the light of all this violence. again, two students here at suitland high school killed, murdered in just a 24-hour period. reporting live, megan mcgrath, news 4. back to you. megan being thank you. >> with the latest shootings, six students have died this school year. maryland state attorney for prince george's county, angela brooks made an emotional plea to parents to stop the violence. >> we need our community to come together to ensure that we're not just reacting. something greater has to be done. we need our parents to wrap their arms around their children to teach them the proper values. go to school, work hard and then buy tennis shoes. we don't kill individuals for tennis shoes. >> prince george's county police will work with community partners and different agencies to try to find a solution to stop the violence. new this morning, a man police say was high on pcp is in jail for gunning down a man who was trying to pump gas. the shots rang out just before 11:00 on branch avenue in

hillcrest heights. police say the gunman started chasing the victim at a gas station and both ran across branch avenue where the victim bass shot. police tased the suspect but it had no effect. it's not clear if the shooter knew the victim or if there was any other motive. this morning, we're awaiting word from the white house on a new strategy for punishing countries accused of cyber spying. the obama administration hasn't said what the new strategy will include but it could be restrictions and penalties. it's coming as company in virginia says china is behind years of siper attacks. stole data from more than 140 companies and organizations. china is denying the allegations. today the pentagon will give us a sense much just how crippling the sequestration might be. will tell congress of the plan to furlough as many as 700,000

have started the gas leak. no official cause yet has been determined. another deadly shooting reporting out of southern california. the orange county police department says a 20-year-old college student went on a shooting rampage killing three people before turning the gun on himself. it started at his home where he shot and killed an unidentified woman. he carjacked two people, spraying bullet as he drove nearly 15 miles. three people were injured by stray bullets, he shot himself as police pulled the stolen car over. the white house continues its gun control push to the american public. vice president joe biden hosted a town hall on facebook. he made surprising comments about advice he gave his wife about using a shotgun. >> if you want to protect yourself, get a double barrel shotgun, have the shells, .12 gauge shotgun and i promised, as i told my wife that's wooded and

the other is in critical condition. this ups the number of prince george's county students murdered this school year to six. in ten minutes, we'll hear how suitland high school is dealing with the tragedy and how the county plans to address the problem. >> angie goff at the live desk. >> aaron, we just found out why the boeing 787 dream liners were taken out of the air. an investigation in japan into overheating batteries reveal they were improperly wired. transport officials saying the plane's power unit was incorrectly connected to the main battery. officials are looking into what caused smoke on some of the planes. all 787s were grounded pause of a series of problems at the beginning of the year. at the live desk, angie goff, news 4. a group of virginia delegates and senators will meet this morning to reach a deal to fund much-needed transportation projects. senate negotiators are considering a new offer from their colleagues in the house. this proposal would cut virginia's gas tax and raise its sales tax.

a portion of existing revenue would be earmarked for transportation project. it's up to governor mcdonnell whether police can pull you over for texting while behind the wheel. the state senate passed a bill yesterday which makes texting while driving a primary offense. police won't need to pull you over for another reason first. the governor is concerned about listing too many things drivers can't do behind the wheel. the virginia senate will discuss a bill supporters say will crackdown on voter fraud. a senate committee approved the measure limiting the number of forms of i.d. voters can can present mord to cast a ballot. voters would no loerng be able to use utility bills, bank statements and paychecks. voter registration cards and social security cards would still be accepted. today a in the district, former congressman jesse jackson jr. and his wife sandra expected to plead guilty in court on corruption charges. prosecutors say they spent $750,000 of campaign money on personal items.

jackson is charged with conspiracy, his wife accused of filing false federal tax returns from 2006 to 2011. the same judge will hear their cases in two separate hearings set for today. montgomery county executive ike leggett will discuss his vision for the county this evening. he'll deliver the state of the county address in silver spring. it's set to begin at 7:30 at the civic building. the speech is fee and open to the public if you'd hike to attend. this morning, several u.s. lawmakers are visiting a maryland man jailed in cuba. six congressman met with president raul castro and were promised they could -- -- the communist country wants to exchange gross for the five spies held in the u.s. a swap the delegation says will

not happen. prosecutors will call more witnesses today in the murder of jason scott. the murder trial of yea son scott. the prince george's county man is charged with killing delores did he wet and her 20-year-old daughter. their bodies were found in a burning car. jurors saw this video yesterday. it's from a police cruiser on the night that burning car was found. scott is already serving a 100-year prison sentence for a series of unrelated crimes. he's also a person of interest in three other murders. we're just learning that as many as 30 people may have witnessed the deadly stabbing of a university of maryland eastern shore student. 21 ye-year-old sinclair was kil. the baltimore sun reports that campus police have spoken to a person of interest but haven't arrested anyone. the chief made the announcement during a town hall meeting with about 3,000 community members. there is a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. the commercial that had

students murdered within about 24 hours of each other. police do not believe the murders are related. but are part of a disturbing and violent trend being seen in the prince george's county school system. the latest student murder happened at about 5:30 last night. the freshman, whose name has not been released was fatally shot in a parking lot of an apartment complex on donnell drive. he died at the hospital. a second person wounded is listed in critical or grave condition at app aur i can't hospital. now, residents who live in the area say they just don't understand what's going on. they say the violence is frightening and sad. >> i mean, you know, i just don't understand these young people nowadays. they just go around shooting and killing each other for no reason. i just don't understand it. >> the prince george's county school system released this statement saying our hearts are broken again. we cannot go another day without

addressing the unspeakable acts of violence against our students. one of the ways they're dealing with these acts of violence is increasing security here at the high school not just for today but for the rest of the week. also later today, staff members will be meeting behind closed doors to discuss the situation and try to strategize and figure out ways that they can best help the students who are dpreegrievt this point. the grief counselors brought in, in the wake of the death of charles walker, they're going to stay at the school indefinitely. megan mcgrath, news 4. aaron, back to you. thanks, megan. our team coverage continues with what police are doing in response to the violence. tony tull live at police headquarters. >> i want to reiterate the fact that you mentioned this is the sixth shooting of students here in prince george's county just in in school year. that has prompted prince george's county police chief mark mcgraw to come out in a presser and mention that they'll

step up and do something. they're going to form a task force. we're not going to learn what that entails until the next couple of weeks. he did say that the shootings are not related. some were drive-by. some were over tennis shoes. some of them were gang violence. nonetheless, he said they're going to make plans to rip with the state's attorney's office as well as with the school system to figure out ways to prevent this. yesterday on hand was state's attorney angela also brooks she spoke and said this absolutely has to stop. >> i want the community to understand that i stand here today as the state's attorney, not just concerned but i am enraged that a young person in our community can't walk the streets with a shopping bag without being shot in the back. that's something that ought to be of concern to our entire community. >> reporter: aaron, we're not sure ha that task force is going to entail. when we get the details, we'll get them back to you. i'm tony tull. back to you. >> tony, thank.

new this morning, another murder in prince george's county, a man is dead being gunned down trying to pump gas. the shots rang out on branch avenue in hillcrest heights. prince george's county police say a gunman high on pcp sfatard chasing the victim. police tased the suspect but it had no effect. it's not clear if the shooter knew the victim or if there was another motive. lawyers for the man convicted of of the murder of washington intern chandra levy plan to seek a new trial. ingmar guandique's prosecution was based on a lie they say. there was a problem with a key witness a year ago. it is not clear if that person was the informant saying guandique confessed to the crime. there was no physical evidence linking him to the crime. he is due back in court in april. he's serving a 60-year prison sentence for that murder.
