overseas tour. he worked to promise to protect japan from knonorth korean thre. his first stop in the states will be chicago to visit the parents of a young diplomate. he will visit with tom and marybeth smetinghoff. their daughter was killed in southern afghanistan. the today show will speak with john kerry about that trip. that is coming up at 7:00. >> this morning, all eyes on kno north korea over a possible missile launch. the north uses this time to show military restraint.

>> dc police need your help to solve two separate sex assaults. the first happened at 21st and 8th streets. there a woman was assaulted by three men. then another asouth man knocked on the door and once inside assaulted the woman. >> demonstrators say they want to show support for plan to crack down on gun violence. republicans now say they will support that measure. we expect maine and illinois senators to vote for it. others put the bill together. >> this week, we expect to see immigration reform bill.

a bipartisan group of senators has been working on. it will allow millions of undocumented citizens to become citizens. >> the senate could hold hearings on the proposal later this week. >> this is a picture what it looked like after firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:00 last night. we are told they worked through the night to get it under control. no word on how it started. >> we are going to hope to get answers today about changes fairfax county plays to make. the county's department of transportation will hold the first of six public meetings today. the county wants to change two dozen existing routes and eliminate six routes all

injured while working on the outside of space mountain. it is not clear how long the other two rides will stay closed. >> the man who lived by himself in the maine woods is now a minor celebrity. christopher knight has received a marriage proposal and a stranger has offered to bail him out of jail. >> it appears that rutgers has a new basketball coach. the school introduced eddy jordan this week. he played there from 2004 to 2008. video surfaced of coach physically and mentally abusing

players. racers will take their mark at 9:30 this morning. they spent the weekend gearing up for the race. this year they will pause for 26 moments of silence to honor the victims of sandy hook. and there is a banner features 26 stars. >> two of the biggest names in local college basketball likely moving onto the next level. multiple sources saying that center is entering the nbc draft this week and georgetown star porter expected to live with the prospect of being a top ten pick. and it would be a surprise if he stayed. he was a first team all american this season. the nationals headed to miami after they headed home.

this morning mayor gray's response to allegations that he urged a competing candidate to drop out of an election against him. >> the monday morning commute off to a slow start on i-95 in virginia right now. you are looking live on chopper 4. >> we are off to a rainy start this morning as well. that is not helping as well. tom klerein out on the weather deck with an umbrella in hand. we have light rain just enough to make the pavement wet this morning. no doubt we'll have more accidents. this rain is heading northeast and raight across west virginia. it is mostly light rain.

pregnant. she recommended that she not lift more than 20 pounds. she said she was told to go poem and not allowed to return to work until after she had her baby. >> i think it is terrible that they make a woman choose between her career, her job or having a baby. she sued ups and lost her case. since then the general assembly announced a bill. the bill is waiting for martin omalley's signature. in a statement published, the company said that the company does not violate american with disability's act.

had to pull snow plows off the road. here 6.3 inches that breaks the previous record of 3.7 inches set way back in 1986. that is a big concern for people. it has been a chilly spring. there hasn't been a lot of melting from the winter snow. this community has been dealing with flood concerns. the red river of the north. notorious for flooding and this year will be no exception. this could be a record setting year and storms like this one do not help. the concern is of course what happens when all of this snow melts. they have made more than a million sandbags in a week alone. and it looks like once this snow melts, they will have to put

the roadways are slick. right now it is on the cool side we are in the low and mid 50s around much of the region. you will need a light jacket. here is how we are looking. by noon time i think most of the rain is going to be ending. temperatures by 3:00 or 4:00 should be in the upper 60s to 70 degrees. and we have the pollen in the air. it jumped back up in the week end. some of it is washed out this morning. i think it is going to be back into the high range. it will remain for tuesday or wednesday. this is the time of year that we get the high pollen. tomorrow partly sunny each day. morning lows, 50s, afternoon highs, upper p 70s. here is a look at friday and the week end.
