we're following breaking news tonight in a story we have been tracking since last week. >> police are searching the home of a virginia man who posted a youtube video that shows him loading a shotgun in d.c.'s freedom plaza. it's husband way of protesting d.c.'s gun laws. he told news 4 the video was real. >> shomari stone is in virginia with new reaction from the producer of that video. >> reporter: good evening. that producer is also adam's roommate and say the they served a search warrant at their home. you can see police are helping out with this investigation. it's worth mentioning that that roommate claims that adam could possibly be under arrest. however, we got an e-mail or information from the u.s. attorneys office basically stating that they are not confirming that police are serving an arrest warrant.

however, police continue to search the house. now it's also worth mentioning that tonight the roommate said they have been serving the search warrant over past few hours. they are looking for the gun show r shown in the youtube video. they plan on arresting him for bringing that gun into d.c. that's not been confirmed with the park police or u.s. attorney's office. news 4 exclusively interviewed adam about the video. he posted it showing himself loading a shotgun on pennsylvania avenue at freedom plaza on july 4th. he told us the gun in the video is real and he was protesting the district's strict gun laws. >> i think d.c. gun laws provide one way of exposing the hypocrisy of gun laws. how ridiculous it is to do something in virginia that's legal and across an imaginary line, all of a sudden it's something that could get you locked away for five years.

center where all of a sudden a man in a wheelchair plunges right over the edge and down on to the tracks. what would you do. it really happened at 8:00 in the morning on july 4th at metro center. the new high definition security cameras show the man in his 20s moving to get a better view of the electronic board arrival times. the next train about five minutes away. down he goes. the man didn't want to go on camera tonight, but told me he just deny realize how close he had gotten to the edge of the platform. the first person to jump down to help him is this man, 21-year-old army specialist of fort meyer. >> at first i thought it was a baby carriage. >> his military training kicked in. >> took a second to assess and just act. make a difference. do something. >> reporter: he was quickly joined by three others. one leaping from the other side of the tracks over potentially

dangerous electrified third rails. m metro workers had turned off power to the rails and alerted approaching trains as fellow riders hoisted the man back on to the platform. >> do you feel like you're a hero? >> i feel like i'm a regular guy doing a courtesy thing. >> reporter: he thanks god for the good samaritans. he brok his wrist and scratched his leg. he's recovering at home. his squad leader plans to recommend him for a soldier service award for actions taken out of uniform. jim rosenfield, news 4. we're hours away from a showdown over a living wage bill that could keep walmart stores out of the district. the d.c. council will have a final vote tomorrow morning. it would increase the minimum wage to $12.50 an hour for employees of large corporations. that would include walmart. it prompted a last-minute threat

from walmart this afternoon. it would cancel plans to open several stores in the district, some of which are already under construction. in a statement, walmart says the change would result in fewer jobs, higher prices and a smaller number of retail and grocery options. the mayor is taking the threat seriously. he says, i strongly urge the council to consider whether this legislation will actually promote strong economic development in the district. tonight police are not ruling out foul play in the death of michael kingsbury. he was found dead in a car yesterday more than 24 hours after he had been reported missing. investigators say there were no signs of trauma to the body, but the medical examiner still has not confirmed the cause of death. the mayor says there will be an internal review of the police investigation. police say one of the officers looked inside that car just a few hours after michael was reported missing, but he didn't see him.

>> we subsequently identified three other officers over that about 30-hour period that have told us that they also looked inside of the vehicle and did not see the body. >> police say the car was blocked, but sources tell news 4 the car's owner normally kept it unlocked because the battery was dead and the remote didn't work. we have a new look at the aftermath of saturday's airline crash and some surprising new details about how some of the crew members survived. jim handly is at the live desk with the details. >> we are getting a lot of new dramatic details tonight including word that an emergency chute opened inside the cabin reportedly trapping a flight attendant. and tonight the ntsb released new vidvideo, one of the closes views we have seen of the wreckage. investigators revealed information based on interviews with three of the four pilots aboard the flight.

we now know two other flight attendants survived despite something being flown from the plane when the tail clipped the sea wall and broke off. the landing gear hit the sea wall first before the tail did and the instructing pilot said he thought the plane's auto t t throttle was set to maintain the spied for a safe landing, but it wasn't. here's a cockpit view of what the pilots might have seen before the crash. this is from a 747 that made a same approach on that runway. as for whether saturday's crash was due to mechanical error or pilot error shs the ntsb say there is won't be any answers before the crash scene is cleared. >> we will not determine probable cause while we are here on scene. that will come after we have collected all of the information and analyzed it. i would really encourage all of you to be very cautious about speculating on the cause of the

prince william as well as the district in the next hour to hour and a half. as far as tomorrow goes, looking at the possibility of severe storms across the area. coming up in weather, i have two things that will really get your attention. a new track on tropical storm chantal and unreal video of a waterspout near tampa, florida. down in florida, fire officials are trying to get to the bottom of a bizarre fire. several luxury motor coaches caught fire in the middle of an open field today northwest of orlando. took an hour and a half for firefighters to control those flam flames. nobody was injured. new evidence tonight in the murder case against former nfl player aaron hernandez. according to documents, he admitted to another man that he pulled the trigger in the shooting death of oden lloyd. the documents say her nan disease was argumentative.

he's pleaded not gazillion. more tough questions for bob mcdonald. the "washington post" is reporting that his corporation and his wife accepted more than $100,000 from a prominent political donor. according to "the post", those donations were not disclosed. the donor is already a center of an fbi investigation for giving thousands of dollars to mcdonald's daughter for her wedding. earlier today, we learned the governor's son was arrested near the university of virginia for public intoxication. late today the governor cancelled two public events scheduled for tomorrow. it's not clear whether that might be related to the developments today. tonight charles county police are looking for a pair of thieves cashing in on what they pull out of victim's mailboxes. erika gonzalez with a closer look at the suspects and reaction from one of the victims. >> reporter: deputies say these two women may be behind a rash

of mailbox thefts. cameras inside banks caught the pair in the act. >> we feel violated, number one. we have had something taken from us. >> reporter: this is irene pool. her husband a retired deputy and they say it's happened to them. a few checks, payments for things like life insurance, take frn their mailbox in broad daylight. >> i asked the mail lady if she picked them up. she said no. >> reporter: he dropped off two bills. leaves them inside and notices a red suspicious truck. he goes inside to get a third bill. by the time he comes outside, he notices the two bills inside the mailbox no longer there and the red suspicious truck now driving that way. investigators say the crooks have got wan with crash and here's how. they take the checks to banks in other counties. they add zeros to the existing amount, change the name on the check, provide a fake i.d. and

didn't know she had a recalled battery. she put it on her bed. the night before, she fell asleep. she left that morning to go to work. left the laptop running, plugged in on her bed. >> reporter: laptops on soft bedding are dangerous regardless if they are running on a recalled battery. computer technicians always warn laptops get hot and the air intakes that keep them cool are on the bottom or the side. they are designed to be used on a hard surface so air can cool the machine. >> it got so hot it ignited the blankets on the bed and just went from there. >> reporter: it did $40,000 in damage and three people in the condo were displaced. bottom line here, laptops, bedding, dangerous combination? >> yes. especially if you have one that

this was a waterspout near safety harbor where the waterspout instead of coming out of the base of the cloud, it corkscrewed out the side. it was amazing and unreal. i've never seen anything like that. that was earlier. we have our own tropical moisture over the area now. we have one area of rainmaking its way east. we have another area of rain. if you're headed through charles county, producing wet weather. another area moving in, this one way off to the west. not the showers here around culpepper. those will be making thundershower way to fredericksburg. but this next batch, a bigger batch with some lightning and thunder. you folks you might get a wakeup call in another two hours right after you go to sleep. fairfax, another three hours. it's into d.c. it could linger up until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. that shower chance, a few rumbles of thunder. we're at 78 degrees at 7:00 a.m.
