11:01 pm
just inside the beltway. crews noticed some wires breaking within that pipe in the spring. however, they didn't start breaking with as much frequency as they have in the last few days, which has signaled to wssc it needs to be fixed asap. so how long do residents have? essentially, the pipe may be shut down tomorrow evening, and then the countdown begins. residents will have about 14 hours before the water is completely gone. and, again, that outage could last anywhere from two to five days. wssc is trying to buy people time. because the pipe is in a wooded area, they have to build a road to gain access to it. so now is the time to prepare. >> and when it comes out of service, our ability to support southern prince george's county is greatly compromised. and that pipe will come out of service. we're going to try to leave it in service as long as we can so that our customers that are in that area have the ability to prepare for this.
