"early today" starts right now. >> announcer: this is "early today" for tuesday, july 16th. good morning. i'm mara schiavocampo. protests in the wake of george zimmerman's acquittal turned violent in los angeles. in the third straight night of rallies, 700 mostly peaceful protesters gathered chanting, praying and singing. but a smaller group of about 150 broke off and began blocking traffic and breaking windows in the chen shaw area. at one point, at least some of the protesters broke a window in a los angeles store. the mayor wrote a tweet saying police are clearing area. the l.a.p.d. disbursed

people. one person was taken to the hospital. and a juror in that case was speaking out, revealing more about what happened and how the jury reached their verdict. the juror told anderson cooper that when they began their deliberations, only three of them thought george zimmerman should have been acquitted. >> i think his heart was in the right lace. it just went terribly wrong. >> do you think he's guilty of something? >> i think he's guilty of not using good judgment. when he was in the car, and he called 911 web shouldn't have gotten out of that car. >> do you have any doubt that george zimmerman feared for his life? >> i have no doubt george feared for his life and the situation he was in at the time. >> do you feel story for trayvon martin? >> i feel sorry for both of

to break senate gridlock. now, democrats are threatening to change the rules and force up or down rules on presidential nominees. brian moore joins us live now from washington on what's going to be next. good morning. >> good bigdown here on capitol hill. republicans continue their filibuster of president obama's nominees, majority leader harry reid is threatening to change the rules. what he'd do is take the 60-vote threshold to stop the if i am buster and turchb it into a simple up or down vote, 51 votes, that is called the nuclear option. it is something republicans threatened to do eight years ago when the white house and the senate were both controlled by republicans. what are the odds it happens today? >> i think there's a 50/50 chance that we can pull back yet again from -- as we did in december, pass the senate did before in 2005.

have the pool nearby, i understand. >> no, no, i go outside and soak it up. >> she's the cat that sits in the sun. that's it now. your forecast as far as the heat wave goes. when you get these heat waves, turban heat island effect has all these cities with all these pavement. at night, they just don't cool off. 90 feels like the heat index in washington, d.c. 87 in philadelphia. here is the forecast for today. the heat is going to be to the west. chicago getting up to 90 today. when you're in a heat wave like this, you look for those xwrem impressive stats, bangor, maine, 95 degrees is an impressive one. new york city, the possibility of being mere 97 in central park. one of the other things that's interesting, look at dallas. only 7 4/degrees yesterday. it was one of the coolest july days in dallas yesterday. this upper level low is spinning over the texas area and bringing rain and clouds.

today it will be in the 80s and for you, that's below average. so while much of the country is baking in the heat, not the case in oklahoma, new mexico and texas. that's a look at the national forecast. now here is a look at the weather outside your window. today some of the other hot spots on the map, raleigh, north carolina, at 94. we're not shattering a lot of records with this heat wave on the eastern seaboard. don't forget our friends in the mountain west, either. salt lake city, 101. so, we're obviously seeing the grips of this heat wave. i'll let you know later how long it's going to last. >> it's hot, but that's typical for this time of year, right? >> sure. you'll get a heat wave like this once or twice every summer. a major sex crime ring busted and your job may be good for you. plus, is today the day for kate's baby? we're live in london, coming up next. >> that's it. >> is that your bet? >> 16th.

welcome back to "early today." any day now, kate is due to give birth. martin flech isser live outside the hospital. good morning. >> good morning. everyone's attention here is still focused on the private wing mere ott st. mary's hospital in london. the only news so far is no news for prince williams, the duchess of cambridge's husband was playing polo over the weekend. that took the edge off everybody's excitement. the sad a news there is prince william lost both games within saturday and sunday. the only hint of any news about when to expect the royal baby was a comment made yesterday by camilla, the wife of prince charles. she said the royal family hopes to expect to welcome the new baby by the end of the week, she said. now everybody is waiting to see whether she's right or whether the other rumor of the 23rd of

tensions remain high across the country after the verdict in the george zimmerman trial. the latest night of unrest that police are dealing with. as temperatures soar, tens of thousands of people in prince george's county facing days without water. the mappndatory restrictions in place. good morning, i'm aaron gilchrist. >> and i'm eun yang. welcome.

let's take a live look outside right now. the beautiful washington monument lit up in the night sky. 79 degrees, though, right now and feels steamy out there. >> every bit of that 79 degrees. let's check in with meteorologist tom kierein with the forecast. >> it is a sticky start to this tuesday. good morning. starting off just a few clouds drifting over the metro area now. we've got one little thundershower here in southern delaware. and there's one thundershower way off the coast east of ocean city. elsewhere just a few clouds passing through. the air is steamy. high humidity in place. temperatures are in the mid-70s to upper 70s in a few locations to near 80 right near the bay. reagan national now is at degrees. but it's a bit cooler. shenandoah valley into the mountains, upper 60s there and low 70s. it may dry out a little bit. a little less humid by later but it will be getting hot. a look at your tuesday morning in a couple of minutes. dawnella with a first look at traffic.

good morning. >> i'm checking on road work. we saw this yesterday morning for folks traveling southbound i-95. making the trip between 234 and quantico. you're going to be reduced to just one right lane. here's what a live view looks like as you're passing dumfries road. the cones are still up. just a bit slow as you make your way through. also tracking a work zone i-95 in maryland, this is northbound at 200th icc. details at 4:31. aaron and eun? we're on top of a developing story that could impact tens of thousands of you in prince george's county. within the next 24 hours or so, you could be without water, and that could last for days. take a look. overnight the county set up an operations center to monitor the outage. if you live in the highlighted area on this map you see right here, mandatory water restrictions are already in place. and wssc says you should stock up now. this all is because of a water

main located in this wooded area. it's off suitland parkway, and that main is on the verge of breaking. wssc says it needs to be fixed immediately, so they plan to shut off the water tonight. once off, the water will run out within about 14 hours for most people, and it could be between two and five days before that water is back on. the overnight warning that water will soon run out during one of the hottest weeks of the year comes as a shock to many who live and work in that affected area. our own shamari stone told several people about the developments, and he says their jaws literally dropped. the seafood restaurant says they use water for just about everything. and they could lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars. meanwhile, families say they're just worried about it. >> i'm just flabbergasted that they didn't let anybody know. how can we go days without water? we have to shower, use the facilities. what are we supposed to do?
