with weather, head over to meteorologist jackie jarrist to talk about the forecast today, jackie a lot like what we have seen all week. >> yeah, just making little progressings in the temperature department, more than anything else. we are warming things up gradually throughout the week, and waking up to somewhat wet weather this morning. that's it, i think it will stay to the south of d.c. itself. so here you can see a couple of sprinkles. and then over into southern maryland, and southern prince georges county. not amounts to much, and i don't think it will effect your commute either. so warmer and more humid conditions today. we will have flirtatious sunshine, so it will peek in and out. a lot like yesterday everyone, and then chances of showers even a few thunderstorms will continue, not just today for the next couple of days as well. we have your seven dare forecast, just minutes away. we go to wtop with your traffic report. >> well, jackie, it is nice to start off with those dry conditions. we also have accident free

conditions on all major roadways. now, we monitoring conditions on the parkway as you come to and there the front area, that will be near morning side lane. so be prepared it is blocked in both directions. getting that clear, 395, between the belt way and the 14th street bridge, you can see things moving right along. i will send it back to you. >> all right, thank you. our top story this morning, six people are hospitalized after an early morning apartment fire in southeast washington. >> that's right. our john gonzales live this morning with the very latest. john. >> well, jummy and scott, one thing is for sure, d.c. firefighters here in southeast d.c. knew they had to move very quickly this morning because not only were they dealing with a raging fire, but people were trapped inside. fist of all, we want to show you the red cross, they are already here at the scene. they are assisting people that are displaced from what we can see, at least, at least six

units inside destroyed. you take a look at the building live here. gone, firefighters when they arrived. they noticed that people were trapped inside. this started around one this morning. many probably sleeping at the time. our cameras captured one adult being transported. he was being treated first with serious cuts from broken glass. they found the residents that were trapped hanging from the windows literally hanging for their lives. now at this hour, we are told, six people are in the hospital. including a mother and two children. they are suffering from burns, cuts and smoke inhalation, again, six people in the hospital. the cause of the fire, sin unknown.

okay, john, thank you. we have a update on another developing story in the district. three people are now in police custody. now, this comes after someone shot a juvenile in the 3,000 block of douby place. >> and we also just getting word of a deadly shooting spree in dallas overnight. a man allegedly walked into his ex-girlfriend's home and started shooting. set off an explosive device and then started shooting more people. four people are dead, and four others hurt including children, the suspect was arrested after pretending to be a victim. we will continue to follow develop presents in this story, and bring you any more details as soon as they are available. >> time now 5:04. >> check those numbers, there are no jackpot winners around here, but don't give up hope. live to breeian carter for more on this story this morning. good morning, bree.

pennsylvania, we don't anticipate our storms to be severe this afternoon, but they could put in some pretty heavy downpours at time. so a future cast will show you a few scattered showers by 2:00 this afternoon, as we head toward the evening, they could become more widespread, and then they will die down overnight. and then kick back up again tomorrow late in the day, and the ray may again may be heavy at times for your friday, and things look a little bit better into saturday morning. our forecast today, partly sunny skies. some afternoon thunderstorms will be possible. so feeling a little bit warmer, a little bit more like summer. mostly sunny,ing 66 to 72, and there's your seven-day forecast. featuring on and off storms still kind of lingering into the weekend, but the probability of thunderstorms would be much ledder on saturday and sunday. so the weather looking hot and sticky, that's what you expect for the fair, right? meteorologist in montgomery county this morning.

john gonzales is is here with the latest. >> keeping a very close look on possible hot spots that may flair up. when all the of this started firefighters knew they had to move very quickly, because not only was there a raging fire inside this building, but there were people trapped inside. just a lot of damage this morning. it appears it started on the first floor, and ripped through the entire building. you can see from our video, the flames shot out prince georges the roof. this started around 1:00 this morning. pretty much everyone was inside at the time. and probably a lot of folks were actually sleeping at the time. our cameras captured one adult being transported. he was first treated here at the scene, for serious cuts from broken glass. when firefighters arrived they found those trapped residents hanging from the windows on the second floor, literally hanging for their lives. now just moments ago, we spoke exclusively with a mother who was inside the building with her

the leftover moisture from the showers and thunderstorms. so you are down to about half of a mile, visibility about a mile in frederic, but everybody else doing okay throughout the metro area, so this will not be too much of an issue. 77 degrees at this hour, dew point is high, so the temperature and the dew point are together. that's when we start to see the fog. winds out of the south, bringing in the moisture, bringing in the heat, made it entomb the 80's yesterday, that was nice to come back. 73 degrees at skullless, 73-degrees this hour in culpepper. now we have a cold front that is making progressing, and that will help to triple thunderstorms this afternoon. our future cast will show you, i think we will be dry through the noon hour.

this will continue with on and off wet weather. but, showers and storms return for tomorrow afternoon, they could produce some heavy downpours so keep that in mind, especially for your commute. tomorrow evening or maybe you are heading out of town and trying to head to the beach. some afternoon thunder showers are possible. an isolated shower possible early, and there's your seven-day forecast. a 60% chance for wet weather, but we bring it down a little bit for the weekend. so the majority is looking food. a few pop up ups in the late afternoon hours. our average high temperature is down to 87, after our peek earlier in the month, and as we head through the rest of august, we go down to 84 by the end of

usually get about two-tons and the montgomery county people love our cheese so much that we use that two-ton every fair. you use this crane and put it on the wheel and that's where you cut it? >> exactly. we use piano wire to cut the big wheels. once we whittle it down from 550-pound, get it down to a 100-pound slab, then we can start working on it with fives. and we cut and block, slice our own cheese, and we go right into making the grill cheesed sandwiches. >> tell me, where do all the proceeds go? >> every penny goes directly to support the fair and the fairground. because everybody here is a volunteer. we use about 140 volunteers during the fair. >> let me talk to melanie. >> jen. dell me, what's the key to making the perfect grimed cheese? >> the putter.
