hagerstown, martinsburg, trying to make their way into winchester but doing ok in the metro area, then a few sprinkles to the south and west. most of this rain is going to be light. it won't be sticking around for long. it will be a warm and muggy day with peeks of sunshine on and off. showers will be heavy this afternoon a lot like what we saw yesterday. but what about the weekend? we have a little bit of a question mark. i'll explain in your seven-day forecast. from the belfort furniture weather center, i'll head it back to you. >> thank you, jacqui. state department warnings have expanded and include pakistan this morning. >> there are new concerns that ahead of these security measures terrorists will set their sights on new targets. kristin fisher has the latest. >> americans are being urged to stay out of pakistan. this as most u.s. diplomats were ordered out of lenore to

islamabad. according to a senior state department official the threat is different from the one that forced the closure of 19 other diplomatic posts earlier this week. >> it's prudent to protect lives and it's certainly important to keep the terrorists from being able to carry out a devastating attack. >> 16 air strikes in yemen, u.s. officials believe this plot is still active and reaches up to the highest level of al qaeda and those leaders are likely getting help from the nearly 2,000 prisoners who peanutly escaped from iraq, libya and pakistan. >> it's possible they could be suicide bombers, it's possible they could become combatants, some may have capabilities in terms of bomb-making which is always of concern. >> with so many embassies and consulates are closed experts are worried they'll set their sights on a soft target like a

hotel. president obama will address a preference today, his last day before going on vacation to martha's vineyard. >> two young boys in protective custody after police say their mother abducted them. the two boys went missing from children's hospital in gaithersburg. they were taken there after one of them appeared to have bruises. the two brothers were found safe with their mother several hours later. the mother is in custody. >> d.c. police confirmed a shooting is a homicide now. this happened last night in the 4100 block of wheeler road in southeast. a 31-year-old man was shot and killed. police are looking for an adult wearing a white tee shirt and red cap. taking a look now at business headlines, more cable tv customers are fed up with cable bills and looking elsewhere. >> our military may be getting a new look in the uniform

department. linda bell joins us live from bloomberg headquarters in new york with these stories. good morning, linda. >> good morning to you, jummy and scott. right now there are 10 different designs of camouflage uniforms used by our troops and congress is looking to whittle it down to one because it could save money. the lawmakers, they're looking to find ways to trim costs under the sequestration process. it would also affect future contracts for the 23 clothing manufactures nationwide that are benefiting from the various designs. and fiscal 2011, the pentagon spent about $300 million procuring new camouflage uniforms. are you tired of your sky high cable bill? if so, you're not alone. "u.s.a. today" said many are likely to cut the cord.

in northeastern pakistan to the main embassy in islamabad because of a terror threat. the government wants americans to avoid traveling to pakistan because of safety concerns. police are looking for a person who shot and killed a man in southeast d.c. thursday night. that shooting happened in the 4100 block of weaver road around 8:00. police are looking for a man wearing a white tee shirt and a red ball cap. scott. >> the nfl preseason is here. curt cousins, by the way, passing for 52 yards and one touchdown. redskins kept eight starters on the bench thursday night including rgiii. >> i went through an extensive workout but what a game. be ready to play. >> the ravens-dominated in their

targeted employees worked for a variety of businesses including a dental office, a rental car company. the department has identified 600 victims. >> montgomery county police are asking for the public's helping in finding a bank robber. police believe the same man robbed two capital one branches, one in white oak and the second in germantown. investigators released the security camera photo of the suspect. if you know who that is contact montgomery county police. >> nidal hasan will be allowed to continue representing himself, a judge decided. wednesday stand by attorneys asked to either take over that case or have their duties scaled back. they believe hasan was trying to convince the jury to convict him and hand down a death sentence. the judge denied their request in a heated exchange. the attorneys promised to appeal that ruling. >> 10 months since hurricane sandy but the storm will still

we'll be dealing with the clouds and that's what we have right now in d.c. 78 degrees, an extremely mild start. we're warmer all day than they were all day on monday, how about that. winds out of the south at 12 miles per hour and that will continue to pump in the same kind of air mass throughout the day today. at 77 at dulles, 72 in winchester, 78 at quantico and 77 degrees in lexington park. we do have scattered showers all across the mid-atlantic and see how they kind of stretch back to the ohio valley. that's where that frontal boundary is for today but there's a second front back off to the west and i think this is going to make some full progression as we head into the latter hours for today. what time can you expect the rain showers? i think for the most part they'll stay north this morning but this afternoon we'll see them become more widespread, continue into the evening hours with heavy downpours and a little bit of flash flooding possible. notice how it clears out tonight. there could be some stray showers late tonight and early tomorrow morning mainly south of the metro area but now all of

our models are starting to kind of click together showing that we think this front's finally going to pass on saturday morning and we'll have a drier weekend to look forward to. i can't rule out a stray shower on saturday to the south and i can't rule out a 20% chance, that's all we're going to give you, for our sunday afternoon of an isolated storm. things are looking up and up for the weekend. today partly sunny, scattered showers, 85-90 degrees, tonight mostly cloudy, thunderstorms, 68-75 and the seven-day forecast you're going to like, yeah, the weekend overall will be dry, more than anything else, with some breaks in the clouds and more sunshine on sunday, especially we'll get a little wet to start next week but, hey, we don't care, it's the weekend and it looks good. let's find out how things are on the roads. rob is in the wtop traffic center. >> no incidents or accidents at this point. 270, live shot of 270 and montrose road. as you can see very light volume. no problems making your way southbound down towards the
