>> abc's steve osunsami went to the scene and had a look. >> reporter: dozens of families on vacation were dozing off sunday night when a 100-foot sinkhole started to swal low their villa with them and their belongings in it. >> i kept hearing the building cracking, and things falling from the ceiling. >> reporter: authorities and eyewitnesses outside orlando raced to the collapsing buildings capturing this indr d incredible video and screaming for residents to get out now. >> i noticed -- notice this may happen in florida, i'm from atlanta. >> reporter: it looked like the ground opened up and ate the building. a stairwell there leading to nowhere, lake a tornado came through and punched a hole in the ground. rusty glover and her family saw the floors buckling then tried to escape. but the doors were stuck and wouldn't open. the couple with a baby had to

break a win deto get out. >> we started running out throwing our stuff over the balconies. it was crazy. >> reporter: florida is sinkhole central. here's why. much of the state sits on porous limestone in a thick layer of clay. over time, walter eats away at the stone and heavy rains help push the clay into the rock. authorities say there aren't more sinkholes just more people around to notice them. this is a photo where the latest sinkhole opened up. this its what the area has become today. >> we have a dry season. then the rains come on, about the middle of june. about that time you see sinkhole activity pick up. >> reporter: everyone got out of this building alive but lost everything they left behind. steve osunsami, abc news, clairemont, florida. tragedy at a baseball game. a fan at turner field fell 60 feet to his death during the braves' home game last night. it happened after a lengthy rain delay. nearly 90 minutes. investigators are trying to find

more than 5 million americans are suffering with alzheimers disease. 200,000 of them are under age 65. >> this morning we are hearing about a new kind of test for early detection of the disease that involves how quickly you can recognize the faces of famous people. here is abc's linsey davis. >> reporter: take a guess, what is this person's name? recognize this person? how what about this person makes them famous? how about this man? turns out the faces might just predict if you will develop dementia. here's how it works -- researchers at northwestern medicine showed 20 celebrity faces one at a time. can you name him? if you said albert einstein that's two points. now, why is he famous? think it through? if you said scientist or even e equals mc squared, you get two points.
