avenue. now police are not releasing a lot of information. this is being called a home invasion and what we know is that a little after mid nate two men made their way inside a house on 100th avenue in the glendale. inside that home two residents, a man and a woman had a confrontation. shots were fired and the male resident was hit in the torso. we are told us in critical condition at this point. it's unclaer whether or not the people who entered the home stole anything, what they were doing in that house. that's still part of the investigation. but they were seen running away after the shooting occurred. no word of any arrests at this porting live in glendale, megan mcgrath, news 4. eun, back to you. melissa l mollet is at the live desk. one person dead, dozens trapped because of a building that collapsed in mumbai, india. this video just in.

you can see the huge amount of concrete just tumbled. 20 people have been pulled from the rubble from the five-story apartment building that collapsed around 6:00 a.m. mumbai time. the latest building collapse at least 2 people killed in april when an illegally constructed building fell down then. at the live desk, melissa mollet, news 4. we will keep a close eye on the shutdown showdown today on capitol hill. we're expecting the senate to vote to remove a provision interest a government funding bill that would defund the affordable care act. house speaker john boehner say he and his colleagues won't accept any legislation that doesn't take money away from the controversial health care law. congress must reach a deal by the end of monday or part of the government will shut down. the head of the nsa is downplaying employees are abusing authority. they say they eavesdropped on

family and friends a dozen times over the past decade. they have two open investigationses into misuse of authority. it's reviewing details of a third incident and may open an investigation. the u.n. security council could vote as early as today on a resolution forcing syria to get rid of its chemical weapons. it would require syria to allow inspectors to have full access to its chemical weapons stockpile. it does not threaten any military action if the country doesn't comply. the u.s. says this is still a major breakthrough in efforts to end syria's civil war. >> this is the first time since the syria conflict began two and a half years ago that the security council has imposed binding obligations on syria, binding obligations of any kind. >> the five permanent members of the u.n. security council support the resolution. it is now up to the council's ten nonpermanent members to approve it. back to melissa mollet at the live desk with more breaking news. this is just in right now

out of pakistan, a bomb has exploded near a bus with government employees onboard. 13 people have been killed. we'll keep an eye on this for you, again, out of pakistan, a bomb ex loaded near a bus carrying government employees. we know 13 people at this point are dead this morning. at the live desk, melissa mollet, news 4. 4:35. new this morning a suspicious package deemed safe by police. that was found on the community college campus, cleared shortly before 11:00 last night. buildings were evacuated while bomb techs and police investigated. this afternoon family and friends will hold a funeral for prince william county high school student 18-year-old kenny diaz's service set for 1:00 in woodbridge. 12 people now under arrest in connection with his murder. poli police just charged four of diaz's friends with attempted robbery. investigators say he and his friends tried to rob 19-year-old debe a diandra samuels as pay back and connecteded to drug deals. they believe samuels stabbed

i'm melissa mollet at the live desk. a seattle-bound plane had to make an emergency landing in boise overnight. we know this united flight was coming from houston when they say a crew member suffered is a heart attack. the 737 did lapped safely. paramedics took the crew hem to the hospital. we know 161 people were onboard after a brief wait. they were later flown to their destination. at the live desk, male mollet, news 4. a prince george's county mother is demanding answers after she says her son was lost for an hour after school. her 5-year-old son attends class at mt. rainier. she says a substitute teacher put marcus on a school bus to go

home instead of his daycare van on tuesday. he was dropped off on a businy s corner of 34th street and rhode island avenue. he wandered around for a little while until he knocked on a stranger's door asking for help to call his dad. >> just to get a call, you know, an emergency that they can't find my 5-year-old son. >> she says the school sent home withdrawal papers for her son and his brother. we contacted prince george's county public schools. we're told they're looking into the situation. 15 before the hour right now. d.c.'s fire chief will not face charges after being accused of attacking a firefighter. prosecutors say they don't have enough evidence to charge chief kenneth ellerbe. a firefighter told police that ellerbe grabbed a phone from his hand and hurt him at the scene of a burning ambulance last month. ellerbe says he simply asked for the phone and got it voluntarily. this morning d.c. police are working to catch three men

responsible for a string of robberies in northwest. in a matter of hours police say the armed men stole $300 and a cell phone from two people on "n" street near the convention center. two hours later the same men may have attacked another man in an alley and stole his wallet. police have increased patrols in that neighborhood. we're hearing this morning from the comedian accused of punching a reporter in the face. the daily beast reporter josh rogin was live at d.c. improv when he was approached by dan nainan. rogin tweeted criticism about nainan's jokes. according to witnesses and police reports, nainan punched rogin. he said he was just standing up for the amateur performers. >> a reporter was sending out all these tweets about these others. you know, you pick on me, that's one thing. why are you picking on these poor people? >> d.c. police gave nainan a

citation. rogin declined to comment. a former nfl player says hundreds of people may soon face charges are for trashing his vacation home. police just arrested six people they say broke into brian holloway's home near albany, new york, and lieu a massive labor day party. one of the people charged was a young man he took care of when he was homeless. he claims that guy organized the party. holloway posted pictures of the young people on social media sites and that angered some of the teens' parents. right now crews are trying to restore power to it a busy park of new york's rail system. even though it won't do much good for this morning's commute. a busy stretch has mostly been out of service since wednesday because of a power out aage. our nbc station says limited power could be restored by this weekend. the metro north line transports tens of thousands of riders each day, many of whom have had to find different ways it get around. today is your chance to meet face-to-face with mgm. if you want your business to be a part of a potential casino at

zone where we're beginning to see some color showing up here in western maryland and much of west virginia and along some of the high spots right along the blue ridge. there's a little color beginning to show up. meanwhile, northern new england, they are beginning to see moderate color, and it's near peak color in the adirondacks of upstate new york. now as we take a look around our region we have locally just some of these low clouds that are rolling in. temperatures right now at reagan national airport, there's the capital. it's at 59 and we have a northerly wind around five to ten miles an hour and the view from space showing low clouds rolling in from the north and east over the metro area now and the rest of northern virginia is mostly clear now and they are down into the 40s many locations out of the shenandoah valley but closer to washington we're generally in the mid-50s in montgomery county, prince george's and fairfax and right in washington as well. right near the bay waters it's in the low 60s and hour by hour today we'll have temperatures with the low clouds holding steady in the low 50s and low

is in store next weekend. check out what they have planned october 4-6. five stationses downtown will be closed to the red line trains. they are farragut north, union station, gallery place, and metro center. that's when i go downtown. gallery place will be open for yellow and green line trains and metro center will still handle blue and orange line traffic. free shuttle buses will run between all of the affected stations. a crumbling bridge in northwest will be causing a lot of traffic tie-ups while it's being fixed. the bridge near east and west beach drive sustained serious water damage over the past couple of years. ddot is slowly blocking off the roadway to help with with the weight distry bauibutiondistrib. residents aren't happy about the possible road work saying closing the roadway is a safety risk and it will disrupt daily life. ddot is concerned the bridge won't be able to handle much more stress. >> the cracks are growing wider.

welcome to this friday. first up your forecast with storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein. good morning and happy friday. early this morning we have some low clouds that are coming in from the north and east not producing any rain. just a slight chance of a sprinkle perhaps in northeastern maryland but mostly clear elsewhere. but these low clouds are advancing from the northeast heading southwest so they'll probably be moving across northern virginia as well over the next couple of hours. under the clouds it's milder, it's in the 50s. where it's still clear, it's dipped down into the 40s. manassas, prince william county, 48. now in the shenandoah valley, the panned handle of western virginia, most of those locations are just in the 40s this morning. so quite a chilly start there. it's in the low to mid-50s, our near by suburbs. we'll stay in the 40s and 50s through 7:00, 8:00 this morning. by 10:00 a little sunshine should break out. we ought to be into the low 60s by then. then by noontime near 70 degrees in the metro area.
