journey to el salvador to show how ms-13 got its start and why members have planted roots here. a local soccer mom is recovering tonight after being struck by a bullet while watching her child's game. >> it happened in prince william county yesterday. jackie bensen has our report. >> reporter: exactly how this happened remains a mystery. the soccer field at this memorial park in manassas does not bring to mind images of violent crime. so when a woman said she was shot while watching a youth soccer game sunday, it got a lot of attention. she told officers when she felt the sharp pain she thought she had been hit by a bb and continued to watch the game before driving to the hospital.

neck and dragged her to the ground. it happened yesterday morning off tenth street and quebec place northwest. tonight a local lawyer is accused in a deadly drunk driving crash that killed the couple in virginia. ricky and lee wren died after a car struck their motorcycle early yesterday morning. court documents show the driver of the car had a blood alcohol level that was nearly twice the legal limit. he's being held without bond right now. ricky's son is still coming to grips with his loss. >> it's hit me but it hasn't. i mean, i woke up this morning and i -- you know, i expected my dad to be there. i mean, i expected my mom to be there. walk down in the morning and they're there. okay. it's not like that anymore. >> the victims, both avid motorcycle riders, would have celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary next week. school bus driver in prince george's county is facing charges tonight for several bank

robberieses. 47-year-old queen is accused of holding up three banks. two of the robberies happened last month in glen burn. third was on saturday in southern maryland. police say a teller was able to catch the suspect's license plate number during the get-away. that is what led to her arrest. the nfl says it's going to meet with a group of native americans who want the name of washington's football team changed. united indian nation had a protest today in the district. it was held on the same day that nfl team owners were in town for their annual meeting. the upstate new york group, the united nation, is vowing to keep up the pressure on the team owners until a change is made. >> washington's team name is a painful epitaph used against my people, the indian people, when we were thrown off our lands. >> it also placed president obama consider changing the name if he owned the team. owner says he has no plans to

in houston this weekend. 15 fans were injured at the grand prix of houston on sunday. dare you franchitti's car was bumped during the last lap of the race and propelled into the fence. debris went flying into the crowd before people even had time to run for cover. franchitti fractured two back vertebrae and broke his ankle, too. authorities in northern virginia have been tracking them for years. members of the notorious ms-13 gang. said to be responsible for savage crimes including human trafficking and drug dealing. >> but what motivates them and why are they here? erika gonzales joins us now with a news4 exclusive. erika? >> the ms-13 gang was founded on the west coast, grew and spread but what is the tie to northern virginia. much of it has to do with money. to explain better we needed to show you the gang's hot spot and that meant traveling to el

salvador more than 3,000 miles away for this special report. this is one of many holding cells in el salvador. it's where ms-13 gang members await their day in court. san salvador is the heart of the world's most notorious gang and it's where we traveled, more than 3,000 miles from virginia where the gangs has run the streets for years. >> we traveled alongside a sergeant from the herndon police department. he escorted her crew through alleys and jail cells few people, much less cameras, have ever seen. >> what we see here we're going to eventually see here. >> reporter: these men are members of antigang tasks for and they covered our every move. what many don't realize is ms-13 is a u.s. made product, if you will, started in l.a., spread to virginia, and then migrated to el solve door. >> where are you from?

>> el salvador. >> from el salvador. but you speak english? >> yes. i lived in los angeles. >> learned from here and taken up there via cellphones, facebook. >> reporter: by the early 2000s, herndon is thrust into the national spotlight with gruesome homicides at the hands of these merciless killers. brenda killed for being a snitch. >> she made bad choices, man. >> reporter: this man who we'll call alex is a northern virginia ms-13 member. he claims to have left the gang in an attempt to raise a family but his ties still run deep. >> they wanted out of the gang? >> reporter: back in el salvador we meet alberto, 18th street gang member. he and a few others are kept in separate cells from ms members.

a reunion would likely lead to a bloodbath. the second our cameras go on, loyalty is clear. gang silence goes up and many of them cover their faces. but the mark is hard to miss. when hundreds of undocumented ms gang members are deported from our area back here to salvador they're placed in detention centers, equivalent to our detention centers. oftentimes there are more than two dozen individuals in each one of these cells and they take two-hour shifts sleeping at night because there's simply no room for them all. for the sergeant, the take away from this trip, the gang is becoming more low profile, reorganizing itself, he says. where communication from ms gang members in northern virginia to those in solve door was once sporadic, it's now almost daily. >> ms is national to national. they're in europe now, they're in south america, mexico. >> and they're in our backyard.

>> we saw so many pictures of this on my facebook page. just amazing pictures after what was a pretty big mess across the area a little bit earlier today. we not only saw rain we saw heavy rain in some locations picking up more rain today than we saw the entire month of september. take a look outside right now and we'll show you how things are looking out towards the airport. you walk outside right now and you will notice a big difference in that temperature. yesterday 91 degrees, the high temperature on our sunday. today right now sitting at 61. that's the low temperature for the day after a high of only 78 with we made that 78 before the rain began. once it did start though the temperatures quickly fell. as i mentioned, today, 1.13 inches. almost as much in one day as we saw all month long. 61 degrees, winds out of the northwest at 14 miles per hour and that northwesterly wind is ushering in cool air. if you go outside right now as i mentioned, you will need the jacket, you'll need it tomorrow

morning, too. 54 in winchester. 54 in haguerstown. and over towards fredericksburg coming in at 58 degrees. our storm system itself continues to move on out. we're still dealing with some cloud cover. i think we will deal with some clouds right on through the early morning hours. and still during the day tomorrow because we've got another system just down to the south that's helping to bring these clouds our way. as we move on true the overnight hours. temperatures will fall. down in the ploe to mid 50s indeed the d.c. and metro area. along the bay. 50. into the low to mid 40s back towards the west, starting off a lot cooler than we've been over the past few mornings. 44 in martinsburg. 46 in gaithersburg. tomorrow, limited sunshine. i think we will see some sunshine. at least through some high clouds. but temperatures will struggle to get to the upper 60s. 68 in leesburg. or 60 rather, should be a 69 down towards culpeper and 70 down towards fred drigsbuericks. tomorrow afternoon, clouds move back in. those were the storms earlier today. behind its as i mentioned, cool start tomorrow.

and watch what happens here. rather breezy conditions start to develop tomorrow afternoon. the clouds start to move in from the south and east. and than they really move in here during the day on wednesday. wouldn't you know it? here comes more rain. late wednesday night into the day on thursday. we are socked in. we've got a potential system that i think could develop into a nor'easter during the day on thursday. thursday is looking very windy, very rainy. not the best thursday but it is typical of what we tend to see during the month of october in the mid atlantic states. 689 on your tuesday. 66 on wednesday. rain likely on thursday. 67 on friday. this system may stick around for a couple of days. bringing us more shower activity into the weekend. right now i'm thinking maybe 70 on sunday with a little bit in the way of clearing skies. thursday definitely the day to watch. expecting a cool east flow which will bring the rain, winds upwards of 20 miles per hour. potentially gusty. 25 to 30 closer to the water. that means we could be looking at nor'easter conditions something that we have not seen very much of over the last few
