news 4 at 11:00 starts now. >> we're following two breaking stories including a scare at an ivy league university. >> first, a stanning involving a teenager in alexandria. jim handly has the latest from our live desk. >> we want to start with that fight involving two large groups of young people. it ended with a man, possibly a teen, rushed to the hospital. that fight broke out around 7:00 tonight here on north morgan street in alexandria. police tell us the man was stabbed and his injuries are potentially life threatening. just moments ago the all clear was given at princeton university. around 8:00 tonight police were called to the historic nassau hall for possible shots fired. an alert went out to all students on campus and this message was posted on the school's website. part of the campus was closed for hours tonight but began 20 minutes ago that all clear given at princeton.

from the live desk, i'm jim handly. back to you. tonight a carjacking victim is sharing her story after teenagers allegedly stole her suv and led police on a wild chase. it started on the beltway this afternoon. the suspects took off and sped through neighborhoods in prince george's county before crashing near route 450 and chesapeake road. jackie bensen is live with new reaction from the victim. >> doreen, the crime leaves this neighborhood on edge. they saw what they believe to be these two suspects watching the area for half an hour before the carjacking occurred looking for a victim. now, we spoke to her tonight. she asked that we not identify her. that wasn't just any stolen car on the tv news. it was her stolen car. the bmw-x5 was taken around noon yesterday on built more street in northwest washington. the maryland woman had just left the home of a business client and was sitting in her suv

looking up a phone number when someone yanked the door open. >> he just pulled my arm and he said, get out of your car. and right then, you know, i just panicked, of course, and i started screaming. and i was honking the horn. at the same time, he was trying to get me out of the car. >> reporter: the vehicle was spotted by police in prince george's county. they pursued through landover hills into a residential neighborhood where it barely missed striking a car with a woman and baby inside. >> if the light would have turned green on us he would have hit us when he went. >> reporter: the suv ended up in a ditch at the bottom of an embankment. a u.s. park police officer was injured in a foot chase that began when the two teenage suspects jumped out and ran. they were apprehended a short time later. the car's owner said she was grateful to have escaped with just bumps and bruises. >> you don't even think about it but this is something that i

person. loved her family. >> reporter: in an excusive phone interview ellisor's grandson byron tells me he misses his grandma. >> my grandmother still had a lot of life left in her. she was really into traveling. she would get around well. >> reporter: her son jerry and her daughter-in-law alice drove from huntsville, texas, near middleburg last thursday for a wetting. irene, her daughter, and four friends were in a minivan. suddenly jacqueline mars was driving westbound on route 50, crossed the center line and hit the ellisor family in the eastbound lanes. irene wasn't wearing a seat belt in the backseat. in a written statement a spokesperson for jacqueline mars says, quote, this tragedy has left her filled with sorry for the loss of life and those who were injured in the accident. she would like to express her deepest condolences to the familys involved. jacqueline mars was treated and

released from the hospital. tonight she's resting. as for this case, well, it's being reviewed by the common wealth attorney. and no charges have been filed. outside middle berg, i'm shomari stone, news 4. there are hints of possible negotiations on day eight of the government shutdown. house republicans are signaling they might be willing to pass short-term legislation. president obama says he's willing to discuss anything but insist that lawmakers first must reopen the government. meanwhile, the cia is recalling furloughed employees back to work as the president and the speaker of the house trade demands. >> let's stop the excuses. let's take a vote in the house. let's end this shutdown right now. let's put people back to work. >> we can't raise the debt ceiling without doing something about what's driving us to borrow more money and to live

beyond our means. >> senator john mccain says he is ashamed after learn that families of soldiers killed in afghanistan this month won't get their death benefits until the shutdown is over. the fisher house foundation is now offering to give those familys a temporary grant until the government can pay them. there's new reaction tonight after the news 4 i-team reported the house of representatives still has access to its members-only gym. staffers on the hill tipped off the i-team that the fitness center is open during the government shutdown. now two democrats are introducing what they're calling the new spa act that stands for the shutdown priorization act. that would prohibit the member gym from operating during a shutdown. congressman patrick murphy of florida and bill foster of illinois say members are able to use their gym, the sauna, and the steam room and that john

teter janitors are we quwe required t clean it despite the furloughs. to our weather now. it's dry out there tonight, but it's not going to be for long. nor'easter is moving in and it could dump several inches of rain on us. storm team 4 chief meteorologist is tracking the changes. doug? >> the changes are moving in. temperatures are only in the upper 60s. tomorrow they will be lower. and this is why. we've got the cloud comp that's made its way in here across our region. those clouds will continue to move in and thicken and cllower. that will help to keep temperatures up a little bit tonight. that's why we're still not quite as cool as last night at this time. storm team 4 radar is clear. just down to the south, notice this storm system. this is the remnants of tropical storm karen as well as a couple of other pieces of energy starting to get its act together. this will combine with an area of high pressure. yes, we are talking about a nor'easter that may stick around not just for a day or two but maybe all the way through the weekend.

indian nation. that group from upstate new york was in town yesterday protesting the name. the owner of the team, dan snyder, promised as long as he is the owner the name will never change. tonight investigators are trying to figure out what caused a deadly fire that killed three people in prince william county. it happened at a mobile home along fuller heights road in triangle. friends tell news 4 a 19-year-old man, his mother, and her boyfriend lived at the home. guards from the quantico base called 911 but the trailer roof collapsed before crews could rescue anyone inside. there's no word yet on the victims' names. tonight a would be robber remains in critical condition after an off-duty officer shot him in the chest. it happened along 18th street southeast just off minnesota avenue early this morning. investigators say he went up to an off-doughty officer and tried to rob her. he pretended to have a gun and

e th this is all trying to make its way to the north and that easterly flow is going to provide a couple of things. one, a lot of moisture through the temperature. coastal flooding. potomac, this area of low pressure moves up, it's going to be stopped. a lot of times these are able to just move on by. we see a little bit of rain and the next day, beautiful. not the case this time. this area of low pressure will move right into this area of

high pressure which will essentially block it from moving any farther to the north. that means more of a northeas r northeasterly flow. more shower activity. more rain. this is wednesday, tomorrow afternoon, around 5:00. rain already in the d.c. metro area and places to the south. and then we go through the day thursday. just about rain all day. periods at times some of it will be steady. we move through friday. that storm doesn't go anywhere. we continue raining and breezy. that rain continuing right on through the day on friday. this is not going to be a lot of heavy rain but over the course of, say, wednesday, thursday, friday, into saturday, we could be talking one to two inches in all. now, temperatures to the west, as i mentioned, martinsburg, winchester, 44 in leesburg. 54 in d.c. and 53 in annapolis. high temperatures will be a little cooler. 64 on therenzno 63 on thursday. and 65 on friday. but look at saturday and sunday. we have to keep that
