officer. word went out about the accident near pine brook avenue around 9:00 last night. right now police are looking for the person that initially struck and killed the man. the off duty officer involved stayed on the scene. >> d.c. police need your help to find three men that could be very dangerous. this is video of the group they're looking for. you can see two of them there. police say they may have been involved in an assault with a gun downtown near g street wednesday. they're calling the men persons of interest. montgomery county police need your help solving a cold case. they're rereleasing this sketch hoping new people will come forward with leads. he is behind a series of sex assaults back in 1970. if you have any information callmont county police. today family and friends say a final good-bye to a woman killed outside of a d.c. strip club. candice reid was

montgomery avenue last weekend in woodbridge, virginia. suddenly 24-year-old amanda styles mays crashed into her near this memorial at the intersection. >> one of her favorite things to do was to walk over across that street to the gas station. sally an outlasted a battle with cancer and recently survived a motorcycle crash. they belong to the rolling thunder motorcycle club and paid tribute to veterans on memorial day. >> six months ago we were in a motorcycle accident and she's been laid up for six months. >> last weekend was the first time she was able to walkout side. she just finished buying her paper and coffee sunday morning. she was walking across the street in the crosswalk. she had the right of way. >> it wasn't fair. >> she was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and reckless driving. >> this was a christmas gift. it's a red skiplaque.

50 years ago the shock of john f. kennedy's death was just

beginning to set in. this day in 1963 was the first full day of mourning after the assassination in dallas. grief stricken americans prayed and watched news coverage from their home. meantime, accused gunman lee harvey oswald was locked up inside a dallas police station. he was shot and killed just a day later. today thousands will honor kennedy 50 years later by running 50 miles. the jfk 50 mile run gets started in less than an hour just outside of frederick. that event was held for the first time months before kennedy's death and was later renamed in his honor. it was one of the many events he helped to launch as a fitness initiative. new traffic cameras will take in more dangerous driving habits in the district. d.c. is installing 131 new ones of these, traffic cameras. they'll target drivers that block the intersection.

those of you that don't give pedestrians the right of way will also be targeted. they also catch speeders and those driving oversized vehicles don't streets that are just too narrow. get caught and expect to pay between 50 and $250. a $200 million proposal can completely change the national mall but you might not even notice it. the coalition to save the mall proposed building an underground parking lot which could house 1,000 vehicles. the structure would be below the smithsonians and help to relieve traffic congestion on the roadways including getting rid of the idoling buses. >> it's been difficult and challenging for many people to find parking on the mall so it is worth consideration. the projected structure could also make blooding a thing of the past on the mall. the coalition says the $200 million price tag would be footed by private money if the plan gets approval from congress.

new details about the evacuation at los angeles international airport last night. we brought you the story as breaking news last night at 11:00. initial reports of gunfire were false. people mistook a car accident outside the arrivals terminal as shots and said a woman had some sort of medical emergency and lost control of her car and hit another woman on the sidewalk finally slamming into a parked car. rescuers took the two women to the hospital. you have to checthis out. tense moments aboard a flight that just landed in atlanta. a passenger caughhe who thing on camera. you're going to see here officers getting on the plane to address a man being disruptive from a flight from fort lauderdale. he started screaming he had a bomb on the plane. the man is taken to the hospital. there's no word on if he is going to face any charges. the rest of the passengers were eventually allowed to get off the plane. new today the united nations says it needs nearly 300 $50 million for disaster aid by

in maryland the average is up t cents to $3.32 and in virginia it is $3.15 up 8 cents and in west virginia the average is two cents higher than a week ago at $3.34. >> travel experts consider prices low compared to this time last year. >> and triple a is still predicting fewer people will travel for thanksgiving. chris clackum has the reasons why. >> reporter: at least american motorists can be thankful for the price of gas which averaging about $3.21 a gallon is 20 cents lower than last thanksgiving and the lowest in three years. aaa, though, is predicting all travel will actually be down this year because the economy still isn't where it was. >> the things such as the unemployment rate and housing market have indeed, improved but not enough to change people's travel intentions. >> reporter: the auto club predicting just under 44 million americans will mostly drive for

affordable care act roll out. the deadline to sign up for health care was pushed back again. you have until december 23rd to sign up for coverage that goes into effect january 1st. t they are prepared for a rush as people shop during open enrollment. they updated the software and don't expect new problems. for the second day in a row you can see people getting the word out about health care in an attention grabbing way. they're sending fact mobs into four metro stations to blast information about the affordable care act and the district's online insurance marketplace. many of them will be using bull horns later this morning. d.c. leaders also want to discuss health care with people in the district. major vincent grey and eleanor holmes norton will be among those at d.c. health link information and enrollment fair. it's this morning at the martin luther king memorial library. today will be a traffic test for prince george's county police and the tanger outlets.

watch out for delays this morning when you take metro. track work could have you waiting for awhile for the next train. orange and blue line trains are running only every 24 minutes. the red line vuning a little faster every 8 to 16 minutes. the yellow and green lines are running as normal and all stations are open system wide. a battle is brewing over street space in d.c. and it may all come to a head on monday. in two days the district will begin to install aa protected bike line on m street? northwest. it will run from 14th to 28th and service westbound cyclists but it comes at a price. they'll give up valuable street parking to make room for the lane. it will be weekdays between the morning and evening rush. this morning, the christmas tree that will light up the u.s. capitol is getting closer to

julie carey has more on the rush to black friday. >> reporter: call it black friday creep. fairoaks mall and several others in the area announced they'll open at 8:00 p.m. thanksgiving night. four hours earlier than the midnight openings that are become customary. they settled on the opening after macy's backed up it's time and after seeing the switch elsewhere. >> we have had other malls within our portfolio that opened last year on thanksgiving to huge success. last year we opened at midnight. we had thousands of people here at midnight and so in looking at those customers we are realizing that we'll have even more people if we open a little earlier. >> reporter: there's another reason too. the holiday shopping season is compressed this year. with a late november thanksgiving there are six fewer shopping days until christmas. this die hard black friday shopper says she will be there for thursday night openings. >> i like the excitement of it and the people and all the kids

excited. i really enjoy it. so yes i like it. >> reporter: but others have no desire to break away from the family gathering around the turkey. >> i'm always amazed at when they move back the hours. it doesn't leave a lot of time for family and dinner and spending time for the holidays so i probably will not be out. >> reporter: not all retailers are following the trend, though. in fact, some like nordstrom are doing counter programming reinforcing to customers that they won't be decking the halls until friday. if you're looking to put some holiday spirit in your step, you can head to gaithersburg tonight for the annual run under the lights 5-k. runners make their way through 380 winter wonderland scenes. that race starts at 6:15. if you can't run tonig the lights will stay up throughout the season. the people at the butterball turkey hotline have been giving
