stun guns, pepper spray and crazy krouse. we'll show you some of the wild scenes that unfolded on black friday. president obama opens up about life after the white house. why his daughter sasha could have the biggest say on what the family does next. good evening, everyone. i'm doreen gentzler. tomorrow morning police already canvassing a maryland neighborhood for new clues in the murder of a postal worker. they plan to retrait his route. show mari stone has reaction from neighbors who are still on edge. >> reporter: that's right, doreen, this neighborhood is stunned. they're saying if this could happen to a postal worker, this could happen to me. it's causing a sense of anxiety in this area. police say 26-year-old tyson jerome barnett was delivering mail in the 1600 block of reed street out here.

suddenly someone shot and killed him around 7:20 last saturday night. police canvassed the neighborhood, but they'll do it again. tomorrow detectives will retrace the route to try to find clues. they haven't identified in the suspects. fellow postal workers have said they worry about their safety while delivers mail in the dark. >> i hope they can him if you can. you know, best way, you know, they can do it, you know, if they can catch him, you know, catch him. i would be grab if they do. >> reporter: the u.s. postal service is offering reward of up to $125,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. prince george's county police will be out here tomorrow passing flyers, talking to residents, retracing steps to try to figure out exactly what

tonight some black friday shoppers are nursing injuries. this cell phone video from a mall in philadelphia showed two women who got into a fight, then one attacked the other with a stun gun. security guards broke up the scuffle which mall managers say was an isolated incident. another wild scene, this time at a walmart in western texas. police had to use pepper spray to stop a crowd that rushed a sale on electronics. a young boy was knocked over in the surge of the crowd, about but he wasn't hurt. walmart's corporate office apologized for this incident today. a much more subdued scene in our area. it looks like the strategy to open doors on thank giving day paid off for major retailers 97 million americans said they plan to shop today, up from 89 million last year. walmart says it rang up 12 million transactions l.a. night alone. most stores have already closed their doors for black friday,

original. >> reporter: shopkeepers are hoping all these crowds carry into tomorrow. >> if we had a bad year or two years, we're out of business. >> that's motto this weekend? small is the new black. >> we have to compete. it's important to have some of these special weekends. >> reporter: laura is all for the push. >> i would rather be in little shops, local people. >> the trollies have stopped running for the night, only to pick up again tomorrow morning. that's when more than 50 starts right here will open their doors for small business saturday. in old town alexandria, i've had david culver, news4. tonight nine people, including a walmart employees are facing charges after a protest outside this store. they blocked traffic in an amendment to raise awareness for the pay for walmart staffers. the demonstrators want the retail giant to increase workers ease salaries. they're calling for a live annual wage of at least $25,000 a year.

greet the crew. president obama talked about the first family's future plans in an interview with barbara walters today. he revealed it may be youngest daughter sasha who has the biggest say on where the family will live. he says malia will be in college by then, and they may decide to stay in d.c. to let sasha finish high school here. another holiday tradition is back in washington. the zoo lights at the national zoo were turned on tonight. this year's display features 500,000 l.e.d. lights transforming the zoo into a winter wonderland complete with animal silhouettes and musical light displays. zoolights will be open every night through january 1st, but closed on christmas eve, christmas day and new year's eve. next on news4, the desperate search for survivor after a helicopter crashes into a pub. family members have their worst fears confirmed. new reaction from a local

you go to work on monday. we're following a developing story out of scotland. thinks video just coming into the newsroom of a police helicopter that crashed into a pub. it happened in glasgow, scotland. no word yet on how many peoples have been killed, but we are told there are a number of casualties. witnesses told police there were hundreds of people watching a

band perform when the crash happened. the crew included two officers and civilian -- the moment a crane collapsed in brazil this week. two wokkers were killed and tonight there are concerns whether brazil will be able to host the tournament, since the stadium needed to be finished by jan wear. seven people were hurt after a ferry crashed into a pier along the hudson. investigators say it happened as the boats was attempting to dock in jersey city tonight. 24 people were on board. the seven injured were taken to the hospital. the coast guard says the cause of the accident is under investigation. but they do not believe it was a mechanical problem. tonight the parents of a

too. heads up for that. we're going to be talking about cold temperatures and then warm temperatures home you about that? we've been on the cold side, really in the icebox across the region. high temperatures struggled to get out of the 30s. many of you today were still in the 30s. a 44 degrees today at the airport. with sunshine, still on the chilly side. late december, cold, that's the way it feels. much more like late december or early january than it does the month of november. as we move towards december, things are going to look up. 33 degrees, that's on the cold side. how about a windchill of 26. anytime that wind blows, it just blows that cold air right through you. all right down to 24 in martins burg, 28 in fred ricks berg, coming in around 25 degrees. the cold spot, right there in manassas, 23 degrees and prince

william county. calvert county coming in at 27. once again, we really would like to see temperatures warm a little. storm team 4 radar, nothing to show. no chance of rain or even snow, but there's a couple chances in the next seven days, at least for some rain. storm tale 4 radar showing all clear across our region, but back towards the west, you can see it back towards pittsburgh. we will see a few more clouds during the day tomorrow. tomorrow's highs may be a bit below today. down to 29 in d.c., 20 in manassas, 2 is in martins burg. temperatures will drop a few more degrees. tomorrow, back into the upper 30s to the west, low 40s, inside the d.c. metro area. i do think saturday will be the colder of the two weekend days. i think sunday is looking pretty good. with plenty of sunshine, a few

clouds with sunshine, too. cool on monday, but still up to 48. 47 on tuesday, 48 on wednesday, then warming up. i do think sunday will be the better of the two weekend days. not as cold. really a nice afternoon. we're going to start off on the cool side, but the afternoon should be quite nice. then we move through monday and tuesday. tuesday could be a coastal system that develops, could give a chance for some of us, closer to the chesapeake bay, and we look out towards next week. this is the pattern change i'm talking about. that cold air will plunge into the west, and allow for warmer air. we're not talking about area 60s are 70s but at least temperatures back into the 50s, and then on friday, friday is
