that smashed into a packed pub. prayer services took place across scotland for the eight confirmed dead. more than a dozen others hospitalized with serious injuries from the accident. police say roughly 100 people in the pub listening to a band when the helicopter came down. we are getting a first look at an alaskan plane crash this morning. this picture one of the only images of the fatal accident. the cessna went down killing four people. one survivor walked to the closest village a mile away for help. police say there were ten people on that plane. live look at 1600 pennsylvania avenue. you'll see that large red ribbon hanging right in front of the white house to bring attention to world aid days. you'll see more ribbons on other buildings. people will be wearing smaller versions throughout the area today. the white house isn't the only place remembering world aids

day. in an hour first baptist church will host an event. head over to the first baptist church on randolph street around 10:50. 35 million people are living with the illness and more than 25 million have died from it over the last 30 years. crews are testing wires for the new street cars that will travel along h street in northeast. the latest test comes weeks after crews tested the tracks, and that didn't go well. took an hour for a test truck to travel five blocks. the d.c. department of transportation hopes to have the street cars moving early next year. they'll run up and down h street between union station and bening road in northeast. to prepare, police will begin enforcing new parking rules starting tomorrow. those are not the only new changes, mark segraves shows us

new rules affecting parking for food truck operators. >> reporter: the tracks are in and the wires are up, even those street cars won't be running along h street northeast until next year, the fines for blocking the street cars' path start monday. cars and trucks must park inside this line along h street, or they'll get $100 fine. plenty of room for cars between the curb and the line, the many delivery trucks that service the bars, restaurants and stores here, it's another story. the plan for now is to have big trucks park on side streets, in the neighborhoods or in nearby alleys. this business owner's happy to see the street cars come in but knows for some it will be an inconvenience. >> more work for the delivery guys. they have to walk further with all of the beer and the food.

four families are waking up without a home. a beltsville apartment fire broke out on cherry hill road yesterday. prince georges county firefighters believe the fire started when a lamp tipped over inside one of the apartments. no one was hurt. damage estimated at 100,000. this morning a 22-year-old d.c. man is in custody in connection with a death of a young man in anne arundel cou y county. police arrested the man for the

we are staying on top of breaking news. a new york transit official tells nbc news four people are dead after a train derailed in new york city. the metro north line derailed in the bronx just a short time ago. we also just learned from our sister station in new york that the number of injured people has gone up. they are now citing at least 63 people injured, and of those, about a dozen critically injured. the train was on a curve when this happened. something to keep in mind on a busy travel day. amtrak service affected between manhattan and albany, new york. ntsb investigators are getting ready to leave washington now and head to the scene of the crash. something that we're learning also that that area is known for tricky turns and curves and conductors were known to slow trains down as they approached those areas. no telling what caused this. we w
