winter storm watch. we are about 24 hours away from the start of snow and storm team 4 just upped the expected snow totals in our area. we will tell you what you can expect in your neighborhood. it is martin luther king day. people across our area are making the holiday or mark thing holiday in many ways. coming up, why people from across the country travel to d.c. to mark this occasion. and we are learning more about the suspected gunman that opened fire outside of a sports bar in manassas and his possible motive. four people were injured. good morning and welcome to "news4 midday." i'm barbara harrison. it is monday, january 20, 2014.

at this time tomorrow, we expect to see some of the first flakes of snow moving into d.c. conditions outside will be ver different from right now. along with the snow expected to be a lot colder. storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein joins us with his first forecast from today. good morning. >> good morning, barbara. beautiful martin luther king jr. day under way. lots of sunshine. yes, we do have a winter storm watch out for a large area for tomorrow for accumulating snow. all the area in blue, including all of virginia, the district, all of maryland, and southeast and west virginia, accumulating snow, beginning right in the metro area. as you mentioned, it may not begin million late morning or around noontime. and then much of the accumulating snow will be during the afternoon on tuesday. right now, though, warming up nicely. reagan national, the temperature is at 48 degrees. and elsewhere, we have temperatures into the upper 40s. culpeper now is up to 52. and it is in the mid to upper 40s around the bay. west, look

>> we just want to be here today to show our respect. >> reporter: the pastor, activist, humanitarian. the leader of the civil rights moveme movement. >> it is special. a part of history, a part of, you know, things that are important to me. >> reporter: today, though, he is honored through service as we remember his life, his contribution, and jonathon rodriguez brought a church group from oklahoma. >> we were telling the kids in our group that this is so much better than learning in a history book at school today. >> reporter: and for this man who is working in the u.s. now but lives in wore-torn sudan sees this as special. in august, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of dr. king's march on washington. he is for ever remembered like this. it is difficult to think of dr. king as an older man. the know bell peace prize winner would have turned 85 this year.

>> more impressive when you are here in person. you see what it means to the other people that are here. they are dedicated to the struggle. >> that was melissa mollet reporting. right now in northwest d.c., people are also gathered to celebrate the memory of dr. king at the annual king day breakfast. the reverend al sharpton served as emcee of the event which featured vice president joe biden as the keynote speaker. the vice president talked about his experience with as a civil rights movement as a young man. >> one of 17 employees and the only white guy. it was a bit of an epiphany for me. i thought i knew a lot of what was going on. i really mean this. all of a sudden, i was in the midst of the every-day culture of people who live in the midst of white folks who didn't know any white folks. >> the vice president also called on everyone to continue king's legacy by taking a stand for something you believe in. before the vice president took the stage, several people were

honored with various awards for leading by example and keeping dr. king's dream alive. we are following a developing story in northern virginia this morning. we have new information about the two men and two women who were shot at a sports bar in loudoun county overnight. take a look. the gunshots shattered the front doorts of the 09 degrees boor in manassas. breaking news this morning. we learned lee victims have been treated and released from the hospital. news4's megan mcgrath has more on a possible moat enough this case. >> reporter: it happened here in the parking lot of the 90 degrees sports bar in manassas. four people were shot. police say that the gunman was angry about being asked to leave the barbie security. police use a hammer and a screwdriver to pry a bullet from the wall. the glass door of the 90 degrees sports bar shattered in the hail of gunfire. the bar's manager didn't want to give his name but says the whole thing happened outside of the

bar after closing. >> we were closed. we close at 2:00. >> reporter: gathered out front the bar's security guard and lee other people. also will, the gunman. police say was angry about being asked to leave the barbie security. as he drove away, the police say he opened fire on the group standing out front. two men and two women were shot. >> where were they shot? >> the leg. that's what the police told me. no-life threatening -- >> reporter: witnesses called 911 and gave a description of the car. a manassas city police officer pulled it over just a few miles away. three of the people who were shot were treated and released early had morning. the fourth victim, a woman, is still in the hospital but is expected to be okay. in manassas, megan mcgrath, news4. right now oxon hill road is

back open after a deadly early-morning crash there. the wreck happened right around 2:00, just off the beltway. police say lee people were in the car driving on indian head highway when the driver lost control and plummeted over an overpass on oxon hill road. would people died in the rash. a third is expected to be okay. and new this morning, police in prince george's county need your help to find a missing woman. take a look at the picture on your screen. this is 54-year-old tyonna montatue. she was last seen just after noon on friday on matthew henson avenue in landover. tyonna montatue is believed to be wearing a red shirt, blue pants, black leather jacket and black shoes. she may also be walking with a cane. we understand. police say tyonna montatue has suffered several strokes and has limited communication skills. if you have my information call prince george's county police. right now police are looking for a mother wanted in connection with the death of her own child.

the 1-month-old was found dead last september in southeast d.c. police have issued an arrest warrant for 31-year-old brown. the child died from intoxication with a drug used to treat allergies but it can also cause children to stop breathing. the germantown woman accused of killing two small children and injuring two others will have to wait one more day before she gets to see a judge, the children's mother. 28-year-old avery and another woman, 21-year-old sanford, are facing murder charges for -- accused actions with these children. meantime, a memorial in front of the family's townhouse has grown to include stuffed animals, balloons and plowers. the two surviving children are still in the hospital. the police say the woman of both of them were rag to perfect form an exorcism on the children on friday morning. right now, a video message is raising new concerns about

new this morning, nato service member is dead after a base attacked. suicide bombers and gunmen stormed the base in kandahar. we are told the base suffered moderate damage. the nationality of the victim has not yet been released. we may be seeing proof iran is abiding with poyts iran nuclear deal. it claims ininternational inspectors were at a site in the town when it happened. the inspectors left to check on another facility in central iran. this new information has prompted the white house to say

the u.s. will begin easing economic sanctions on iran. but white house spokesman jay carney says -- or adds in a statement that washington will continue to aggressively enforce sanctions that will remain in effect. the american missionary who has been imprisoned in north korea for more than a year is asking for the u.s. government to security his release. he made the statement in front of reporters in pyongyang this morning. bae was arrested in 2012 while he was on a tour. he was a tour guide there. he's accused of using his tours and business to form anti anti-government groups there. he was sentenced to 15 years hard labor. this morning he said he apologized and said he did commit acts against the north korean government. last month vice president joe biden said bae is being held without cause. there is now reason for concern for our athletes' safety just weeks before the olympics begin.

an islamic extremist group is warning of attacks in sochi. tracie potts has more from capitol hill now. >> reporter: a new video from islamic extremists shows how would suicide bombers planned this deadly explosion a few weeks ago. in it, they claim the olympics are next. >> i would not go. and i don't think i would send my family. >> reporter: thousands of americans are headed to the games. lawmakers fear the unprecedented level of security in sochi. is it enough? >> i'm very concerned that something does happen, what is the evacuation plan and emergency response plan that would take place? >> reporter: the games apparently are not the target. russia is. the result of a war with muslims a thousand miles from sochi. also, there are new questions this morning about whether russia may help an faa leaker, edward snowden. >> i don't think that it is -- it was a gee-wiz luck event heepded up in moscow.

i'm sure that every hockey player, every pan in russia wants to win. >> ovechkin's mother is a famous olympian herself. she won two gold medals playing basketball for the soviet union. some queens are going the heat up the olympics. lolo jones made the bobsled team ask learned overnight she will be one of the lee athletes to help push the sled. jones is best known as one of the world's top hurdlers. but she's yet to win a medal in her -- after falling short in both beijing and london. fellow track star williams was selected for the team. they are just the ninth and ten athletes from the u.s. to compete in both winter and summer games. it is going to feel a lot more like winter around here tomorrow. storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein hear to tell us about the snow on way. >> enough to go sledding and get out your bobsled. maybe tomorrow. we only had about 3 1/2 inches of snow in washington.

this whole winter. we have not had one day with more than 3 inches of snow since way back in 2011. it has been lee years and i think that will is a very good chance we will get three inches or more right in washington tomorrow. there are your weather head lanes. a mild martin luther king jr. day today. then that snow arriving on tuesday to be followed by a frigid blast blowing in on tuesday night. big area under a winter storm watch. all these counties in blue, this is all of virginia. eastern and west virginia. all of maryland, the district, eastern shore for accumulating snow during the day tomorrow. now as we take a look at the temperatures right now, it is not feeling like snow. we have a few high clouds drifting in. wide view there from our sky watcher camera. temperatures now in the mid to upper 40s around the metro area. right around the bay, it is in the mid 40s. farther west, up north, temperatures are near 50 degrees, shenandoah valley into the mountains. culpeper is up to 54 degrees. and certainly doesn't feel like

we are going to get any snow. a big change is going to begin to move in. the clouds are drifting off to the south and east. few high clouds coming in and will be with us off and on here into the afternoon. here is your hour-by-hour forecast. we will be climbing into the low 50s by 2:00, 3:00. and then the temperatures really drop. as of 10:00 p.m., i think by then we will be down below 40. by midnight, down to the mid 30s and then colder air begins to arrive tomorrow. alongith the snow. here is the timing. 8:00 on tuesday morning. this area in the white, lavender, that's the snow. maybe into the shenandoah valley, 9:30, 10:00, into frederick county and panhandle of west sxrurnlg loudoun county, maybe around 11:00 in the morning. getting closer to washington by noontime, but still west and north of the metro area, there may be some light snow developing over the eastern shore around 1:30, 2:00 in the afternoon. that's when the snow will begin to move in and will quickly accumulate during the afternoon. this area in the darker lavender

is where it can pile up quicker. that's around 4:30, 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. by around 7:30, 8:00 in the evening, still snowing here. and it is going to be a fluffy, dry snow, sticking to opportunity treated surfaces, including any untreated roadways. by 1:30 in the morning on wednesday, snow pulling east of the bay and beginning to move out. checking off the chances for snow and how much we will get, chuck bell joins us now live on the weather deck. >> good morning. yes. bright sunshine and noticeable south breeze out here today. allowing for quite the warmup ahead of all of this. the chances of getting snow tomorrow are very, very high. we have broken them down for you. chance of d.c. getting at least one inch of snow. 95% chance. four inches or more of snow, about a 50/50 shot. the odds of getting 6 inches or more in washington, only about 10%. here is why i think that. had is our first computer model and notice that hagerstown is only forecasting 2 inches of

snow there. but 5 inches in southern maryland. the next model we look at, quite a bit, gives a very different scenario. only 2 inches in southern maryland and almost 7 inches in hagerstown. that's what we are looking at. and here is what we are forecasting in your hometown. generally 2 to 4 inches of snow into southern maryland. right through the heart of the metro, anywhere between 3 to about 6 inches of snow. morning maryland, 4 to perhaps as much as 8 inches of snow. we will be tracking it very, very carefully, tom. >> thanks so much, chuck. that will be followed by that frigid blast you mentioned. we will be down into the teens by the afternoon. temperatures while it is snowing, it will be low and mid 20s. so a dry snow. then down to near 10 by dawn wednesday and windy and cold wednesday morning. and sub-zero windchills wednesday morning. highs in near 20 in the afternoon. blustery winds will settle down on wednesday afternoon. but staying below freezing, teens in the morning on thursday and friday. highs only in the went. still below freezing on saturday

a 6.3 malany tud quake struck near wellington this morning. take a look at this video. you can see just how intense the shaking really was when the quake hit. right now there are no reports of major damage or any injuries but the quake was strong muff to damage some homes and trigger rock slides and road closures. new jersey lieutenant governor denies allegations she threatened to withhold sandy relief funds for political reasons. kim gaudagno calls the claims false. she was told she would only get sandy relief funds if she support 5d billion dollar development project. the new jersey assemblyman who was leading the investigation to last year's g. bridge lane closures says his committee will also look into the latest accusations. starting today, you can try to get answers to your questions about president george w. bush's administration. his presidential library and museum will start accepting

right now fire investigators in spotsylvania are looking into what sparked a deadly fire over the weekend. this is 14-year-old montague. his body was found in the living room of this fire-ravaged house yesterday morning. five of his family members were also at the home when it went up in flames but they were able to escape. news4 spoke with xavier's uncle about what happened. >> we were out here trying as hard as they could. there were a bunch of firefighters when me and my wife pulled up to the house, the house was in flames and they were doing the best they could. >> the house had been in the

family since the 1950s. several other members of the family live on the same street. this morning, police are questioning the 55-year-old suspect connected to a deadly stabbing in northwest washington. yesterday morning, police were called to this house on q street georgetown. when they knock order the door a man with blood on his hands answered. officers searched the house and found 88-year-old leroy elliott and his wife bleeding from stab wounds. both were taken to the hospital p leroy did not survive. vonn is recovering. police believe the attack was the result of a domestic situation. this afternoon, the family of a 28-year-old postal worker killed delivering the mail in montgomery county will march to end might time postal delivery. jerome barnette was gunned down in the fairmont heights area. his murder remains unsolved. barnette's family traveled from north carolina to join postal

we are getting our first look at the suspect in an overnight shooting outside of a bar in manassas. this is 24-year-old jeremiah eugene cullen of manassas. the police say last night he was thrown out of the 90 degree bar. he was tossed out by security. then the cops say he got in his car. came back around in front of the bar and started firing shots. he struck four people, shot two men, and two women, three of the victims are now out of the hospital. will is still one that remains in the hospital. she is expected to be okay. jeremiah eugene has been arrested now and charged with this crime and is facing several charges including malicious wounding and shooting from from a vehicle. he is in jail being held without bond. at the live desk, richard jordan. >> thank you, richard. the cdc is pushing you to get a flu shot this morning if you haven't already gotten one.

that's because the virus reached epidemic levels. 40 states now report widespread cases. it has gotten so bad in indiana starting today some hospitals will restrict visitors to only immediate family members. visitors with flu-like symptoms will not be allowed in. >> the flu this year has been the first it has ever been. the worst i have seen it in 15 years. >> doctors say that this year's strain, h1n1 is killing more younger patients than in previous years. a pre-schooler in virginia last week died from the flu. a new study showing parenting styles can put a child at risk of addiction. overbearing, unaffectionate and demanding parents may drive their children to become internet addicts later in life. researchers say parenting can lead to young adults who are socially withdrawn and that raises the risk of addiction. teenagers who find it difficult to connect to others in person are more likely to spend

face was much rounder. all of this starts -- >> fall, square. you get more -- you are pretty oval. have you a little more squaring for some people. they will have more squaring of the face. and also, the distance between the lower eyelid and the rest of your cheek becomes long and hollowed out. you almost get this trough appearance. that is one of the other signs of the aging or, you know, the first simpler things are your mouth starts to turn down. small may . >> this is not just in people that are over 50 -- no. it starts -- it starts -- in the late 20s. depends on the patient. depends on the genetics, depends on the facial shape. basically you will see it first in thinner patients. the people have a little more fat on their body, more fat on their face, actually will age in the face a lot better. >> you say that your own fat can be used. jasper when did you first notice and why did you decide to seek

attention? you are not a middle-aged person. at least you look pretty young. maybe that's the result of the work you had done. >> i went through a painful -- at tend of it i felt exhausted and looked exhausted. i lost volume in the cheeks. and cheeks were hollowed. i wanted to be refreshed. i didn't want to have massive, invasive surgery. >> we are looking at your before and after. actually you -- you look thinner. if the bottom is the after. you actually look thinner. >> i lost a lot of the volume right here as well by pulling it up good so that's what made you look -- i see what you mean. where did you -- where did you treat him? you put it in the cheeks? >> we actually treated -- with men we treat a lot less. and we also -- with younger patients we use a lot less volume. we don't want it to make -- we don't want it to appear too overdone. so -- with mr. burn here, we

actually did a small, you know, in-office mini face-lift. then we did some little bit of tightening which you can see on the lateral view. if they put it back on the screen, lateral view, which shows we tightened this area here. we did a combination of both skin tightening and fat augmentation. then the fat was put in lieu this angle and a little bit through this angle. we didn't want to make too strong of a cheek bone because it is a male pace. we don't want to make it look like a buffoon. we want to make it look very natural. if you take a look at the photos again, you can see underneath the neck and sides gives you a better demonstration. >> how do you decide between using the fillers we just -- hear so much about now and using a patient's own fat? >> i think it depends on the type of volume loss. from superficial volume loss i use one of the thinner fillers, juviderm. they treat the fine lines and wrinkles. this patient, for example, has

had a -- this is for a deeper volume loss, you want to not only treat the volume but do a tiny bit of lifting. her not quite ready for a face-lift but need a little bit of lifting. so -- the heavier fillers, such as voluina, that's first line. after that it is your own fat. the advantage of your own fat it lasts five years. it is not only -- filler itself or the fat i itself, it is the way i place it. i place it deep and i place it on the surface of the bone. i place it undermeets the muscles so it lasts much longer and it looks natural. it is not bumpy. it is not lumpy. >> that can happen with the -- >> the other kind of fillers, if you use them in small quantities, no. if you use a bigger volume treatment with them, yes, it can help. >> so you recommend going and talking to a plastic surgeon. >> certified plastic surgeon. >> figuring it out. >> thank you for joining us to share your story and you look
