area. looking up to the north, and this is a cold front that is making its way down to the region, and that area of cold air will come in first, and then we are watching this clipper system which is an area of low pressure back to the west that we are watching make its way and as it does so, it is going to be picking up a lot of moisture, and as it does, it is going to put in the snow, and there is no worry about the rain/snow line or sleet, because it is all snow. the temperatures are well below freezing throughout the portion of the atmosphere, and so a winter storm warning for the entire area, and most of the state of virginia and entire state of maryland and west virginia and delaware, and so it is a major storm making its way our way and not just snow. v.j.? >> well, that is right. we are saying that the temperatures are going to be dropping in a hurry with the system. we will get the snow to shovel and the slick roads, but also the winds to pick up as this system gets in here during the afternoon hours, and during the evening hours, and in fact, at

county is sending out more than 350 trucks and plows tomorrow in maryland. you can stay up to date on the winter storm forecast on the tone with the storm team 4 app, and the best part is that it is free. you can get it on the app store or google play for your android phone. and we are hearing more about a crash that happened this morn. earlier this morning, a 45-year-old man james henderson's vehicle plunged off of the highway. he and a woman aayoni williams were killed. police are trying to figure out exactly what caused this crash. a manassas man is in custody after a shooting outside of a sports bar. jeremiah pullen is accused of shooting four people at the 90 degrees sports bar on rixlew

lane. he fired into the group as he was driving away in the parking lot, and the witnesses gave police a description of the car, and officers arrested him later in a traffic stop. all victims are to recover. tonight, we are hearing the 911 call that took police to a disturbing scene. two children were murdered and two others were severely wounded. the children's mother and another woman has been charged. and pat collins is where the two women will be in court tomorrow. >> jim, tonight, we are hearing the 911 calls for help after those children were murdered in germantown. this is how it all went down. >> reporter: on the night before, two small children were killed in this german townhouse. a neighbor called police to complain that the women in the house had left a baby in this blue car for more than an hour,

and he said that when he made the call for help, the women went after him, and this is how the 911 call went. >> okay. i am going to back off, ma'am. i'm being attacked by two females. >> and where are the ladies now, sir? >> they are chasing me down. you need to back up off of me, ma'am. >> is there an apartment involved? >> the baby has been in the car for an hour, and that is my business. >> reporter: the police referred the case to family services, but the next day the bloody murder scene discovered when another neighbor calls the police to investigate that suspicious blue car again. >> they got outside. there is a knife with the blood. the car door is open. the house have the with windows open up there. i heard loud noises in the night, and i didn't know, but

they have four children. >> reporter: stabbed and killed. 1-year-old norelle and his 2-year-old sister zyana. stabbed and wounded, 8-year-old martello and his 5-year-old s sister tania and we know the names and the faces of the four defenseless children attacked by their own mother in their own home. but there is still much more to be known about what happened in this townhouse on that deadly day. it was last friday morning that police were called here to investigate a suspicious car. that led them to the townhouse and the bloody scene inside. 28-year-old zakieya avery tried to run from the house, but she was caught and brought in for questioning and later charged in

the attack. police say that avery told investigators that she believed that her children were possessed by evil spirits, and she was trying to perform an exorcism. and now, tomorrow, the mother will be in court. tomorrow, more details about this murder case. live in montgomery county, pat collins, news4. people in our area, and around the nation came out today to honor the memory of the late dr. martin luther king jr. marcher marchers in anacostia took part in a peace march to pay tribute to the activists who come before and after dr. king. >> this is also a day of service in honor of martin luther king's family. the president and mrs. obama helped out in the family kitchen. >> yes, that is right, jim.

firefighters say that a number of people were killed in a massive explosion in nebraska. they don't know how many at this point. this happened this morning at a feed processing plant in omaha and 38 employees in there at the time. 10 people were taken to the hospital, d four in itical condition. the explosion caused part of the roof there to collapse. sol of the employees had to find their way out by using cell phones as flashlights. the authorities say that there are no hazardous chemicals in the building and they don't know what caused the blast. and now well coming the olympic village after a bombing killed people in that city, and the torch arrived. today, the torch was carried to severaitweather. snow, snow, snow.

>> and cold, cold, cold. doug, what is coming up? >> yes, you can see at union station, the flags are blowing around, and the winds are coming out of the northwest at 14 miles per hour, and the winds are going to be a thing to watch out for in the day tomorrow as the windchill is dropping quickly, but right now, mild, and 39 in hagarerstown, and 49 toward annapolis, and the temperatures are going to fall tonight, but not too quickly. tomorrow, that e will fall very quickly, and that is why everything that falls from the sky tomorrow will fall as snow. and we have a winter storm warning including the entire area, and everything in pink is on that warning and from western maryland, and to the eastern shore we are under that warning tonight. and here is why. storm 4 radar, nothing in the region, and all you have to do is to look to the north, and they are getting a frontal snow there up in boston, and that is the cold front coming down with the arctic air, and behind that,

we have a clipper, and right now, not much snow, but iowa and chicago, and as it makes its way to our region and combines with the area of low pressure, and transfers the energy to the area of low pressure right off of the coast, that is when we will see the snow, and the snow is moving in at 9:00 or 10:00, and this is going to the south. you need the clippers to go south. if you want snow, that is what it is doing, but when it heads off of the coast, it is going to be northeasterly winds. tomorrow afternoon at rush hour, that is when i expect to see a lot of problems on the roadways, so give yourself a lot of extra time, and prepare for this, because there are problems on the roads tomorrow, and 11:00 tomorrow night, the rain and the snowk, or rather ther the snow will make its way out of here. then the wind begins to develop. and wednesday morning, windchills close to zero, and in

some areas less than 10 degrees below zero. your forecast as far as snow is concerned is about 2 to 4 inches is what we are going with. we are adding the plus here, because i believe some regions will get more. and over to annapolis and herndon and over here, we are could see upwards to 7 and 8 inches in that region if the bandings sets up. so once again, i would not be surprised if the snow totals changed a little bit at 11:00 tonight, and stay with us right here at nbc4. 30 degrees is the high temperature tomorrow. but it is going to be falling tomorrow afternoon, and we will see the falling temperatures, and 221 for a high on wednesdayk and take a look at a this wednesday morning, a windchill of 11 below zero, and 13 below in gaithersburg, and 14 in

new details on the deadly crash in gaithersburg. >> jim, we learned that a driver running a red light may have caused this crash. it happened on quince orchard boulevard and they say that an acura was turning on the quince orchard road when it was hit by a dodge durango, and the police say that the driver of the dur

rango had a red light, and both drivers died. the driver of the durango had a utah license, but neither had on their seat belt. and the new jersey governor is denying new claims of retribution from the christie camp. it stems from accusations from the mayor of hoe boek -- hoboken, and she says that the lieutenant governor said she would not get funds unless she agreed to the plans of governor christie. and now there has been an arrest with a man and woman arrested yesterday on the mexican border trying to get into the u.s. the police say that the couple tried to use credit card information that may have been stolen from target customers.

and police found a stash of fraudulent cards during that arrest. and they say that a well known teenaged hacker from russia created the virus that caused that breach. no matter the snow that we get, there is a special election in fairfax and loudoun counties. three candidates are running for the 33rd state district. jennifer wexton, and independent joe may and whoever wins will help determine the makeup of the senate, and the election will take place regard, so get to the polls early. and a camera got in the way on the way down. a postal killer killed, and why the family is marching to the postal headquarters in d.c.

snow, but it is more than a while, huh? >> well, jim, if we get three inches, that is the first time we have seen three inches in more than three years and the last time we had it was carmageddon and this is going to be similar to that. we won't get the burst of snow like we did with that storm, but we will get the snow in the afternoon tomorrow, and if we are not prepared for it around the rush hour time, that is when we could run into the major problem problems, but now that we are planning ahead in time, rush hour should not be as bad. so if you have to leave early or not go in at all, that is what you need to do, because the snow is making its way in, and we are talking about shovelable snow. and the windchills are going to go between 5 and 10 degrees and by this time tomorrow evening. for many areas, it is going to be going below zero tomorrow night, and of course, you can follow the storm team 4 any time, and download the storm

message to the u.s. postal service. >> make changes, and don't let another life be taken with something that can be easily pushed the time back in the morning, and get them started earlier. >> reporter: the mailman was killed in a hail of bullets. and letter carrier tyson barnett was killed in his truck after he was making mail delivery in the dark parked on reed streets in fairmount heights on november 23rd, a saturday night. >> because a young man went into the area that he was not familiar with and i went down there when we did the vigil and it was dark and i would have made the choice not to deliver the mail. >> reporter: along with inspectors, they retraced the route that he was carrying and asking for witnesses, and speaking to drivers and offering a $125,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a killer. and after two months, the

officers have made no arrests. >> i want closure on this, and whoever knows anything, come forward and let everybody know what is going on and what really happened. >> reporter: police say this is an active investigation, and the united states postal service issued a statement saying that it take the safety of the workers, and they are teaching techniques to minimize dangers to them. chris gordon, news4. new details on the deadly plant explosion in omaha. jim handly at the live desk. jim? >> well, we are getting new details on the plant explosion that happened at international nutrition which is a beef processing plant in omaha. officials say multiple fataliti fatalities, but not confirming a number. at least ten people are on the

site, and osha is on site, and they said they have had violations in the past. osha cited the company for one worker who fell into a tank an died. and from the live desk, i'm jim handly. and tonight, in virginia, it is supporters for gun control are hoping that the statehouse will support them. >> reporter: at one rally they wore stickers that said their chief message "guns save lives." >> i want to protect my family wherever i go. wherever the bad guys can carry, that is where i want to carry. >> reporter: on the other side, they have 833 hearts and their stickers say, background checks

save lives." >> well, i think that it does make a difference, because you have a governor who now believes in this, and he is going to be a cham champion for reasonable measures to control gun violence. >> reporter: but the gun rights activists are determined not only to hold their ground, but expand the gun rights. last year in the wake of the newtown shooting, a ban failed. they are put ping the onus on the private schools saying they can opt to do what they want. >> they can do anything they want. they could arm the teachers or the staff or the administration, and they could let the parents picking up children who have permits carry. >> reporter: and supporters continued their push for the universal background checks burk so far every gun control bill has been killed by house republicans. and this man whose daughter was killed at virginia tech, says he is in for the long haul.

so who could forget this? a california 5-year-old boy with leukemia getting the chance to b be a super hero for a day and he saved san francisco from the joker and now a couple is rescuing the city from paying the cost of staging the bat kid fantasy. the make-a-wish foundation organized the event, but the city shelled out $100,000 to to make it happen. philanthropist john and martha goldman will pick up the taxpayers' tab.

>> good for them. and a bill repealing virginia's tax on hybrid vehicles is headed to the house. the repeal was passed with bipartisan support, and the governor has decided to sign i. it was part of a $64 tax that was passed as part of the reform. and some felt that hybrid owners were not paying their share in road taxes because they paid less in gasoline taxes. and just after 10:00 last night, there was a victim found dead in the yard. the suspect was inside of the home, and still armed. after three hours, the s.w.a.t. team went inside of the house and took him into custody. police say that the shooting stemmed from an argument, and they deiidentified the victim a 35-year-old jonathan o'connor.

a colorado skier survived an avalanche that he triggered saturday and captured it all on video. lance light and a friend were back country skiing 40 miles west of denver when the snow splits beneath him, and the moving snow overwhelmed them and knocked them to the ground.

officials say this is a medium-sized avalanche, and he is lucky enough to escape it unharmed. back in our area, police are trying to go through some surveillance camera video to see if it captured some thieves. police say that suspects drove a van through the front door and knocked the atm off of the block and threw it into the truck and got away. and in a story you saw first on 4, a burglary happened at a storage business, and also, they had to steal a truck to get away. >> who knows how many were together. >> reporter: the owner came out to survey the damage. his locker was one of 92 storage

units that the thieves hit, but he is one of the lucky ones. no valuables were missing. >> i am sure that some people lost some personal items of val value. it is a shame. >> reporter: this man was also a victim. staff at the facility told him that thief s cut the locks on te gate, and then destroyed the surveillance cameras, and took one unit after another after another, and went through more than 100 units. >> this is not kids with bolt  cutters? >> no, no. this is much more. >> and they said they also stole a u-haul truck. >> reporter: yes, they stole a u-haul truck to carry off all of the stolen items. police have no suspects. >> and hopefully other storage units will be on the lookout for this, because i'd hate to see it

though in bull vaolivar. and in this area, this is where the cold is coming from. you can see the cold coming through pennsylvania now, and that cold air is going to move in and set the stage for the next storm as it makes its way our way, and right now, a clipper system back to iowa and it is going to move through our area quickly. tomorrow morning, 8:00 a.m., we are fine, and the rush hour tomorrow morning will not be a problem in our region. back to the west is where the storm will move in, and by noon, the snow is everywhere. as i mentioned earlier, it is not a kcase of some of us gettig rain down to the south, and then changing to snow, no, it is snow all day long. at noon, we will see the snow piles up especially around the west, and by 3:00 or 4:00 or 5: 5:00, that is when it will be heavier and along the i-95 corridor, and so around 5:00 is
