happy friday everybody. thanks for joining us. i'm betty nguyen. conditions lead to a massive pile up of 40 vehicles including many big riggs. these are the dramatic pictures in indiana about 60 miles from chicago where at least three people were killed and more than 20 injured. one critical. it went from sunshine to snow and then absolute zero visibility causing cars to slam into each other. the jaws of life had to be brought in to rescue at least five people. one person was trapped for hours before crews could come to the rescue. some lanes were closed as crews cleared the wreckage. the investigation could take several weeks. there's a big change coming for banks. they're about to start handling money from legal marijuana despite current rules designed to stop money laundering. new rules will make it easier

for banks to take money from legal marijuana sellers even though there's tough regulations to prevent them from handling p procee proceeds. it would help retailers along with medical marijuana dispensaries in over 20 other states. cannabis is still illegal under federal law so many banks declined because it could open them to criminal charges for taking money from drug dealers. >> well, things have gotten real for justin bieber. he is out on bail this morning after a wild night in miami beach ended with an appearance before a judge. now the pop star faces a dui charge that could mean a license suspension, fine, even possible jail time. jay gray has the story. >> reporter: a plush of fans and cluster of media gather hoping

for a glimpse of justin bieber hours after he climbed on top of an suv and waved to cameras after walking out of the miami dade jail. miami beach officers stopped the pop star just after 4:00 in the morning when he was racing through a residential neighborhood. >> at first he was belligerent and questioning why he was being stopped. >> officers smelled alcohol inside the vehicle and said he was smoking and taking prescription medication before the incident. he faces charges of resisting arrest and driving with an expired license. a friend was also arrested and allegedly racing bieber. >> the first case this afternoon is justin bieber. >> reporter: both were released after posting bail and there are indications this is not justin bieber's first time in the fast

looking ahead to the weekend. there's a shot of snow coming before the big arctic blast as we go throughout the next couple of days. we'll be watching this area through the great lakes and the northeast on saturday. not a lot of snow. it's along the arctic front. it will produce maybe one to two inches. detroit, cleveland and buffalo. but again, about one to two inches as that blows through saturday afternoon and saturday night as we head through areas of new england. on sunday, that's when we start talking about the next big blast of arctic air coming down from the north. it will first be felt in minnesota and then roll through areas of the great lakes and the northeast. some spots will go maybe almost a full week without getting above 32 degrees. >> insult to injury. let's get right into it. what did jimmy fallon have to say about justin bieber's recent legal troubles. >> of course miami police already released bieber's mug shot. take a look at this. i don't know if i'm looking at a mug shot or a proactive

virginia's former mayor bob mcdonnell planning to face a judge as a report surfaces that he rejected a possible plea deal. bitter cold temperatures causing trouble for workers as they struggle to repair a broken water main. we continue with the deep freeze that's gripping the area. some of you waking up to windchills as lows eight below zero. the entire region is under a windchill advisory for much of the morning. so are you going to need to grab a few extra layers before you head out the door. many kids will get to sleep in a little bit more once again.
