we'll talk about your sunday and snow chance when i see you in a few. >> this morning marks one week since the deadly maryland mall shooting that left two employees dead. right now their friends and family are getting ready to honor and remember them. news4 derrick ward joins us live from the columbia mall with a look at today's events. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. there's nothing remarkable about this mall parking lot. there's emotions you can't see that are front and center and will be for some time. now it's been one week ago, will be one week ago today that breana benlolo and jonathan taylor lost their life. mental health issues seem to be at the center of why. also in the days since remembrances of the victims. there is a vigil, has been a

vigil for benlolo and johnson. that was on thursday and there's a memorial gone up outside of the mall and another inside. at the zumiez store, shoppers left messages of condolence and remembrances for the victims, for those lives cut short violently and unexpectedly and continuing in that vein today at 11:15, there will be a moment of silence inside the mall. it's a sense they have embraced what happened here and not push it aside and begin the healing process for a place that for all intents and purpose the center of this community. right now we're live in columbia, derrick ward, news4. this morning police say they have pieced together more of what gunman darion marcus aguilar was doing in the hours before those shots went off inside the mall. earlier we told you police said he stopped in burtonsville. although they didn't know why. we now know he met someone at a

wendy's there which now has investigators wonder if aguilar acted alone. >> there's no indication right now there's anybody directly involved in the actual shooting. there do not appear to be a lot of people who were close to this individual. >> investigators are now trying to figure out if the person he met with is the same one seen on surveillance video who was with aguilar the day he bought the shotgun in december in rockville. police say after shooting been low and johnson aguilar took his own life. >> in the day ahead we're following a developing story in michigan. police are looking for a man who shot two college studio audience near michigan state university. this happened around 9:00 last night at an apartment complex near the campus in lansing. the school has been sending out mobile alerts. one person is in critical condition. the other was treated and released. a mexican restaurant in the

district plans to re-open after some men came in with masks and guns and robbed customers during dinner. they busted into the restaurant on 12th street a few blocks from catholic university. the robbers took customers cell phones and pointed a gun at employees forcing them to open up the register. this morning another setback for crews trying to fix a huge sinkhole in the district. we just learned in the past hour about another water main break along massachusetts avenue in southeast. repairs could leave people without water. thursday night a water main break caused the road to open up near dupont park. it's not threatening any homes but it could be seven to ten days before the road is back open for drivers and that's if the weather cooperates. here's how you can get around. if you're headed towards the city get off mass avenue by turning left on n street, hang a right on 34th street and take

the left back on to massachusetts avenue. some 7,000 cars use this stretch of mass avenue every day so you could expect some delays. >> right now we want to take a live look at new york's times square. this place is expected to be very busy. all eyes will be on the big apple tomorrow for the kick-off of super bowl xlviii and the country's biggest brightiest intersection has been transformed into super bowl boulevard. police will be on high alert as they figure out who sent suspicious letters to several hotels near the site of tomorrow's game. one of the managers said he opened up a letter and powder fell out of it. he claims a typed letter inside did mention al qaeda. investigators say that the powder is not dangerous. one of thoselers was also sent to a business owned byormer new york mayor rudy giuliani. and people headed to the game have to travel light. tsa is working with police and only fans with game tickets will

this morning a 44-year-old man is in custody accused of threatening to kill former president george w. bush. prosecutors say benjamin smith threatened to kill the former president so that he could go out with his daughter barbara. police arrested smith in new york yesterday morning while he was sitting in a car with a loaded rifle and machete and container of gasoline. according to court documents the man's mother called police when she found a threatening note and a rifle missing. this morning police are
