8-year-old girl. court documents reveal what they were doing at her apartment building before the shots were fired. a gruesome discovery at dulles airport. a body found in the wheelwell of a commercial jet landing gear. and what may be the biggest amount of these olympics for team usa. new reaction to that huge hockey win over russia. good evening, i'm chris lawrence. we are halfway through a pretty cold night. and get this, could see more snow before the weekend is out. storm team 4 meteorologist emilia segal starts us off with the latest. >> chris, tomorrow morning it will be dry, even for most of the day, it will be dry. but as we get into the late afternoon and evening hours tomorrow, some snow will be moving through the area. it will be scattered and more importantly, it will be light. you can see this with future weather, as we work our way through the afternoon and evening hours. just some light snow, maybe even flurries, with little or no accumulation. an inch or less possible

tomorrow. we're dry for presidents' day, but overnight monday, into tuesday morning, look at this. another round of snow makes its way through the area. it is out of here by tuesday afternoon. and just over ten minutes, i'll have my forecast on how much snow i think we'll see from this second system again that arrives very early tuesday morning, chris. >> thanks. new developments now in the shooting of a little girl at a southeast d.c. apartment. 8-year-old michaela darden is still list the in stable condition tonight. darcy spencer has details on her injuries and the two men arrested in that case. >> reporter: the mother of 8-year-old mikayla darden says she is still in the icu. the little girl was shot in the chest. the bullet hit her lung. she is on a ventilator, but is responding to her mom's voice. her mom says she is relieved two men have been charged in the shooting, but it doesn't change what happened to her daughter. we're learning more about the shooting through these charging documents. police have charged 19-year-old

kari brown and 21-year-old nathanial pat tennesseten, know psycho. the documents say after the gunfire erupted children in the courtyard pointed out the two suspects to a witness and said "there they go." as the suspects were running away. police arrested the men around the corner and when they were being questioned, here's what they said. they went ton apartment building there on valley avenue to buy an ounce of pot for a hundred bucks. they say the victim, mikayla, opened the door for them. once inside the building, they say a man pulled a gun. during the struggle, the gun dropped. patten picked it up and fired a shot and brown fired more shots outside as the man ran away. one witness told police he heard what sounded like a robbery happening in the hallway when the suspects were in the building. the documents say neither suspect had any money to buy the drugs, casting doubt on their story.

police say they did have masks when they were arrested, and a .22 caliber handgun found nearby. mikayla's relatives tell me they're focusing all of their attention on her, and they're hopeful that she is going to make a full recovery. in northwest washington, darcy spencer, news4. also new at 11:00, sentencing is set for next month for the florida man who killed an unarmed team in an argument over loud music. michael dunn was found guilty on four charges, but the jury deadlocked on the most serious, first degree murder. in 2012, dubb fired ten shots in an suv and killed 17-year-old jordan davis. race has been an undercurrent in the trial. dunn is white, davis is black. the music they argued over is hip-hop. dunn could face decades in prison. tonight investigators are trying to figure out how a body ended up in the wheel well of a plane at dulles international airport. ground crew members spotted it

this afternoon, in a south african airways jet that landed wednesday. the plane is an airbus a-340. the airline says it's deeply concerned and cooperating with the investigation. investigators aren't sure yet if the man was a stowaway, but they do not suspect any foul play. ♪ tonight, a beloved music teacher has been laid to rest. friends and family packed blessed sacrament catholic church for the funeral of a former teacher at the alexandria church. she was shot and killed nearly two weeks ago. we checked with police tonight. they have received hundreds of tips, but tell us they have nothing new to report in the search for her killer. police in width woodbridge say a fight broke out at the mall tonight causing such a huge commotion some thought shots had

okay. maybe it wasn't the suits. the u.s. men's speed skating team changed uniforms today, but not the results. some skaters raised questions about the mach 39 suits designed by under armour and lockheed martin. they suggested a vent on the back slowed them down. shani davis switched to his old suit, also made by under armour and still failed to medal. under armour says it's committed to giving team usa the best possible gear. a russian skier had emergency surgery and tonight the ski federation says it was successful. ski cross racer was seriously injured on a practice run and crashed and fractured her spine and had a six-hour operation. tonight russian president vladimir putin visited her at the hospital. she is in critical but stable

another fierce winter storm pummelling new england and parts of the northeast, the second mainly storm to hit the area in the last two days. at its peak, this storm expected to pack hurricane-force winds and dump 3 inches of snow per hour. some areas could get as much as 2 feet of new snow. massachusetts governor deval patrick is urging drivers to stay off the roads for at least 12 hours. and i've got to tell you, when i was coming back from dinner, i was complaining about how cold it is. after that, no more complaints from me. >> i have to say, tonight, if you have been outside, it is absolutely frigid here. i stepped outside, too. i looked at our storm team 4

app, 33 degrees. so there is no way it's 33 degrees outside. but when you factor in the winds, we are dealing with a big wind chill tonight. so the temperature right now, still in the low 30s. 32. but notice the winds. they're still strong, breezy to windy outside. so it feels more like 20 degrees outside. other temperatures across the area for the most part still in the 20 everywhere tonight. temperatures in the suburbs, you'll drop into the teens. washington drops to a low temperature of 22. clear skies right now, but clouds will be increasing overnight tonight. beautiful moon out tonight, as well. so there's the chance of some snow late tomorrow. it will be scattered and it is going to be light. little or no accumulation. here's your sunday morning. it's a dry start with some sunshine. notice as we work our way towards noon, we're still dry. but then as we get into the late afternoon, early evening hours, around 4:00, some snow starts to arrive around areas like marti winchester and front royal. 6:00 p.m., the chance for light

snow in washington, and rockville. up through areas like frederick and leavesburg, and snow in the d.c. metro area. also out towards annapolis and the eastern shore, at that point, as well. a dusting to only an inch is possible tomorrow. now, late monday night after midnight into tuesday morning, the mid to late morning hours, more snow will make its way through the area. and this is how much you can expect. most of the d.c. metro area southern maryland, northern virginia, a dusting to 2 inches. the areas you see here in the darker blue, frederick county, northern loudoun county, the northern-most part of montgomery county, 1 to 3 inches, and the timing unfortunate, right during the morning rush. the good news, we're finally looking at some milder air after we get through those two snow chances. so tomorrow again, sunshine will give way to clouds. it's cloudy by the afternoon hours. we're not dealing with the winds tomorrow, but still cold.

thriller. news4's jim handly is live in sochi tonight. i know what it was like here, jim. you were at the game. i can't even imagine what that atmosphere was like. >> reporter: yeah, chris. we're talking about edge of your seat electric today. this it was the toughest ticket in all of russia this week. so much national pride on the line. sure, there were far more rue stands, chants louder and waves, rush yeah. but on the ice, where it ended, team usa pulling it off in dramatic fashion in the end. this was not a medal game, but, boy, did it feel like it. check it out. even russian president vladimir putin in the stands, standing-room-only today, adding to the pressure for team russia. people coming from all over the country. hundreds couldn't get a ticket. they watched outside on huge jumbo screens outside the bolshoi ice dome in the park on

a four-second delay those cheers came in. the game went eight rounds into a shootout when tj oshie, who plays for the st. louis blues finally drove in the winning goal for team usa. after the game, john carlson gave the first reaction off the ice. >> it was a great game. not for us, but it was a good effort by both teams. so we're looking forward to playing tomorrow. >> reporter: how tough was it to play the u.s. and lose today? how much pride was on the line here? >> yeah, it was a great game. both teams played well. but we're going to play tomorrow, so -- we'll bounce back. >> reporter: what was it like to play your first olympics against russia here in russia? >> it was great. obviously a great result, tough game. >> reporter: could you feel the pressure they were feeling in there, in that arena? >> i don't know. i thought they played well too. i don't know if they were feeling too much pressure. obviously, you know, the home team, they've got everyone behind them here. and we did a good job taking that away as much as we could.
