snow for the majority of the day on monday. coming up in a little bit, i will have much more on the storm, and before we get to monday morning, we will have the weekend to enjoy, and i will have the forecast, pat. >> thank you, amelia, and the first wave of the powerful storm is hammering much of southern california, and we are seeing flooded roads and mud slides in the same communities that dealt with wildfires recently, and today's storm has knocked out power to 14,000 people and caused a bunch of accidents. we will go live to one area in california where they have evac waited 1,000 homes and expecting 7 inches of rain. it is one of the scariest crimes in our area, a teenaged girl ambush and attacked, and now we are getting the first look at two men police want to question. this is surveillance where a girl was walking home, and jumped near georgia avenue and ninth street, and the investiga

investigators say that the men who robbed her tried to sexually assault her, but she was able to escape. right now the d.c. police are trying to solve the killings of two teenagers that took place just hours apart. a 17-year-old boy was stabbed on halley terrace in the bellevue area and a 19-year-old woman was shot on j-street in kenworth and her name is takia dickerson and she was discovered on a sidewalk. but three hours earlier jonathon adams was stabbed. derrick is digging up more e details of the incidents, and we will have more at 5:00. with those two murders we are learning a troubling trend. d.c. has seen a 75% spike in homicides this year when compared to the first two months of last year. 21 people have been killed in 2014. today, d.c. police chief cathy lanier told an oversight council that two factors are driving the

trend, and the first is the turf related gang war murders and the second is more troubling to the chief. >> domestic violence is once again a big problem for us. we have had success in drive down domestic violence for two years in a row, but for the last two years, we are seeing an increase, and so an increase in domestic homicide. >> and the police chief says they are close to making an arrest in at least two of the murders. coming up at 5:00, we will have more on the spike of crimes that are on the rise in d.c. and three people are facing charges in a vandalism spree that has damaged more than 100 cars in fairfax county. ashley mcpherson is and travis noeks and trayvon tibbs turned themselves in. they said they wept through a centerville area firing a bb gun, and the police are looking for two more teens in the

afternoon and the evening hours, and that is going to be the winter storm that we are tracking. look at it. here it is. and this is the weathermaker sunday night into monday, and already starting to bring impressive rain into parts of california. now, here's the first call for the snow forecast for mainly during the day on monday, and this storm is mainly going to be gone or should be gone by monday evening, and most of the d.c. m metro area is a good part through southern maryland, and most of northern virginia seeing three inches and maybe more, and frederick county and loudoun county, and northern loudoun county, and montgomery county seeing six inches or more. and not just that, but this is going to start out as rain and change over to a wintry mix that includes the the potential for ice, and then change to snow. those numbers also have some ice mixed within them. and a high on monday of 32, but by the afternoon, temperatures on monday will only be in the
