well to the north and west, this one bringing wet snow flakes to chicago. may well bring us a few little rain drops late tonight into the predawn hours tomorrow. most of the daylight hours will be fine. chilly, though, temperatures 20s and 30s. temperatures rising into the mid-50s. today, that will feel nice, clouds coming back this evening, we'll talk more about the overnight rain chance and the rest of the weekend when i see you next. new this morning, metro will reopen one of the stations. metro transit police say the fight started on a train just after 11:00 last night off massachusetts avenue in southeast. police shut down the station to sort out what happened. that took about three hours and it turns out two people were stabbed in the incident a 19-year-old and other teenager, and both are expected to be okay. police are investigating to see if anyone will be charged. this morning, our first look at the place a little girl hid after police say she was kidnapped by her father.

authorities say they found timothy and his daughter katelyn at this south carolina motel. more than 400 miles from her home in baltimore county. police say the 11-year-old did not look hurt. we're told the amber alert for katelyn helped police find the pair. the fbi and the alexandria police are working together to solve three high-profile murders, possibly connected. the law enforcement agencies working together to investigate the deaths of nancy dunning, and ruth ann ladado. bullets used at each crime scene had similarities. detectives say there was no larger threat. now some question if police jumped to that conclusion too quickly, alexandria police set up a special tip line for information. here it is. the number 703-746-6864. we posted that number on

nbcwashington.com. the d.c. fire department will enforce the new requirement in the wake of more than a dozen firefighters arrested. fire chief ellerby says he'll do background checks on firefighters that live outside the district. firefighters are required to report any time they are arrested or charged with a crime to the department. but so many of them live in other jurisdictions. it's difficult to determine if they are complying with that rule. prosecutors charged d.c. firefighter henry dent with prescription drug fraud in st. mary's county. he's the 13th d.c. firefighter arrested in the past six months. chief ellerby is taking heat at a council hearing yesterday. a retiring deputy chief accused him of creating a culture of fear and intimidation. the culture contributed to firefighters failing to help a man who collapsed outside a station and later died. burn says they are afraid of being disciplined for breaking pro to come. protocol. he says he was taken aback with the comments. happening today, the

conservative political action committee wraps up at national harbor. newt gingrich and ben carson are among those who will address the group this afternoon. the conservative group will hold a straw poll on who they want to run for the white house in 2016. today is supposed to be the last day of virginia's legislative session. however, virginia governor terry mcallife wants to pass a bill. he wants them to return home to hear what their constituents think. most opposed medicaid expansion. he plans to bring them back to richmond on march 24th. news 4's bureau chief is covering it all. look for her reports tonight on "news 4 at 6:00" and 11:00. money once set aside for maryland state employees may go toward filling the state budget hole. maryland wanted to use $300

million above the payment to fully fund a pension program. voted in favor of making only $100 million. only one single payment of that amount. that frees up money to ease budget concerns. union reps support the idea to protect potential salary cuts in the future. right now, in northwest, organizers are up early setting up for this morning's international women's day celebration on the national mall. hundreds of people, including oscar award winning actress sally field will meet at 10th street at the national mall in about two hours. the day will include several inspirational speakers. they're going to talk about the impact women have. this walk is one of 45 similar events taking place around the world. new this morning, voicing an opinion as russia hosts the paralympic games in sochi. how it took a jab at u.s. and the efforts in ukraine. not so fast. why plans to build new condos in georgetown could be on hold. and the pitch this group will make to lawmakers after
