long-term residents. flames engulfed the home off glebe road. darcy spencer spoke with fire investigators about what may have caused this fire. >> tonight, investigators still on the scene of a fire that claimed the lives of two senior citizens here on south langley street in arlington. authorities have not yet identified the victims. but jewel has known the woman believed to have died here for decades. >> she was a sweet lady. she meant a lot to me. she knew my mother. she was in labor with me with my son. >> the the flames broke out at 3:00 in the afternoon. when they got here, the house was full of fire. >> the first crews on the scene did make a very hard push to get inside to conduct a search.

they were driven back by the fire. >> there were also two explosions. authorities investigating whether they could have been from oxygen or propane tanks. ricky beaver's pickup was destroyed in a fire. he parked in a church lot near the house and went to choir practice. >> it was horrific. it was so hot. i just jumped in the truck and got it out at the same time and prayed at the same time. >> there were five other people in the house who made it out okay. many neighbors and nearby residents came to the scene. some of them knew the people who didn't make it out. >> they were all very nice people. >> investigators are still trying to figure out exactly how and where this fire started. the house itself, they say, is a total loss. in arlington county, darcy spencer, news 4. >> our other major story, storm team 4 is tracking a major shift

in our weather. say good-bye. say hello again to weather. when will we start to see the snow phraeubgs? >> it's hard to believe this time tomorrow it will be snowing here. everybody will be seeing snow tomorrow by 11:00 p.m. a winter storm watch will go into effect tomorrow afternoon. it will run through monday afternoon. this is for everybody. snow arrives tomorrow evening after sunset. the heaviest snow will fall monday morning during the predawn hours, during the the monday morning commute. that will lead to slick roads. timing, 3:00 the area is dry but cloudy. a bit of a wintry mix. winchester and lorey, it enters into d.c. by 8:00. chris, we are seeing heavy snow again monday morning.

noon, snow starts to wind down. 3:00, everybody will be dry. how much snow you can expect in 10 minutes. >> thanks, amelia. this is a great reminder. get the latest forecast any time, anywhere. use storm team 4 weather app. download for free from the app store or google play. the district's homicide rate continues to rise. the latest shooting happened tonight in northeast where east capitol beats benning road. officers found a man had been shot in the stomach. paramedics rushed him to the hospital, but he died from the wound. this is the aftermath of a deadly crash in damascus, maryland. the motorcycle driver has now died. his name is evans from laurel. he rear-ended a mercedes. an off-duty firefighter was there and tried to save evans but it was not enough.

there was a 14 girl in the mercedes. she wasn't hurt and neither was the the woman driving. two days after police picked him up he remains in jail. he may be connected to three high-profile murders in alexandria. but they have yet to officially make that link. have certainly been on edge. his ties to the area go way back. he ran for mayor in the city of alexandria. a lot of residents remember him as a young man. >> i remember when he ran for office mostly because he was such a young guy. in some ways i wonder why he wasn't even kind of thought about just because he seems like maybe there was some signs that he wasn't stable back then. >> authorities will extradite him to virginia. it's not clear what role he made if any three murders.

a car chase and shooting in the district. it started when a park police officer spotted a car matching the description of one stolen in montgomery county can. park police tell us three were shot and had to be rushed to the hospital. they are all expected to be okay. it's not clear if the officer shot them or if they shot back. we do know all three, again, expected to be just fine. the mystery deepens in the search for the malaysian airlines jet. malaysia's prime minister said flight 370 was deliberately diverted and continued flying for more than six hours after losing contract with the ground. the plane was headed to beijing when it disappeared eight days ago. today malaysian police searched the homes of the pilot and co-pilot for several hours. at this point all 239 people who are on board are under scrutiny.

continues continue a massive search by sea and air but have found no sign of the plane or wreckage. in a matter of hours the people of crimea will vote to break away from the ukraine and join russia. u.s. and its allies are calling the referendum illegal. russian forces took control of a ukrainian village on the border with crimea. russia vetoes a u.n. security council resolution that would have declared tomorrow's note illegal. here in washington, a national security team met at the white house to discuss the crisis. some dramatic new video of that deadly explosion in new york. up next, why the investigation into this will change in just a few hours. a lot of you probably saw this today. why so many hit the pavement through downtown d.c. and it's an issue that has a local community taking sides. the outcome of a critical v

new details about a shooting that left a baltimore police officer in the hospital. our sister nation identifies the fill at keith mcneil. last night someone targeted mcneil as he was on duty. they are looking for 34-year-old greg thomas. they say he is a person of interest in the case but didn't talk about a motive. saturday mcneil is in critical but stable condition. protesters mobilized outside the white house to mark the 3rd anniversary of the war on syria. people chanted demanding that the u.s. do more to end the conflict. since wednesday, protesters have

been standing outside the white house reading off the names of the 100,000 people killed in syria. today's protest was part of similar demonstrations that took place all over the world. >> crews in east harlem are working around the clock clearing defree that leveled two buildings and killed eight people. we get a look at the moment the blast handled. you can see the explosion in this surveillance video and the power of it and what it does to the surrounding area. the workers have been clearing the rubble. arson detectives will determine gas meters buried in the basement to figure out exactly what caused wednesday's explosion. someone out there is feeling lucky this st. patrick's day weekend. why one has a few million reasons to celebrate tonight. sorry to be the bearer

after six hours of debate, alexandria city council decided to add bike lanes on a major road. bike lanes will be coming in each direction between russell road. they argue it will take away parking spots, which are hard to come from. bike lanes will form a buffer and make it safer for people to walk along king straight. a major recall tonight. honda is recalling 900,000

odyssey miny advance because of fire risk. a fuel pump cover is prone to cracking and leaking fuel. honda says it has no reports of fires or injuries. honda will notify odyssey owners next month. repair parts will be available this summer. virginia has a new multimillionaire. they bought a winning mega millions ticket worth 3 million bucks. the lucky winner matched the first five numbers in yesterday drawing but missed the mega ball. normally you only get $1 million but the winner spent an extra dollar which tripled the prize. it is now going up to $400 million. you can buy a lot of shovels with that.

by the water, 37 to 35 degrees in the suburbs. your temperatures in the low 30s with mainly clear skies. we are going to be dry. but this is our storm system moving through the gulf states right now. you can see it bringing heavy rain to portions of louisiana and arkansas. it tracks into our area. tomorrow morning we will have a little bit of sunshine. temperature, 7:00 a.m., 37 degrees. noon, mostly cloudy skies. temperatures will be in the low 40s. overall tomorrow just cooler than today. our high was 70 degrees. tomorrow a high of only 45. so you will notice that difference. by 5:00, this is when a wintry mix or snow is around the i-81 corridor.

temperatures will quickly drop around freezing. here are the snowfall totals across the the area. the panhandle, carroll county, you get about 2 to 4 inches. most of the area will pick up three to six inches in southern maryland. you could see over six inches. again, taking you in closer. gaithersburg, bowie, wall door of. you could have a little bit more than 6 inches. potentially up to 8 inches. 40% chance for inside of the beltway. 3 to 6 inches of snow to accumulate. again, that happens mainly monday morning. high monday of 33. there's a chance of showers tuesday and wednesday, chris, with temperatures in the low 40s
