we begin with breaking news. two you a larm house fire has become so big because crews pulled back because the home might clasp. this is in bowie. firefighters have been trying to put it out for more than an hour and darcy spencer is live there with the latest. >> reporter: we're standing right around the bend from where that fire is happening. a lot of streets are blocked off with fire trucks and hose line. this is as close as we can get. the good news is no one was hurt. no one was home in the house where the fire started and no firefighters have been injured. it's 90 degrees. it's hot out here. this went to two alarm.

part of the reason to get additional firefighters out here because it's such an intense fire. let's go to some of the video. the fire started at the back of one of the townhouses here and then it went through the roof of that house. there was, as you mentioned, a partial roof collapse. now fortunately as i said no one was hurt. but some families have been displaced from three townhouses, five adults, five kids. some pictures were shot. you can see the flames that were shooting when he first arrived. let's hear from the chief. >> no injuries at this time. it's 90 degrees out here which is pretty rough for the firefighters who got to deal with that. we have them go through rehab. the homeowners were not home at the time. we're looking for one pet.

don't have any further information on that right now. >> reporter: on a good note that pet has now been accounted for, a little white dog and so everyone is safe and again firefighters are still here on the scene battling this blaze. pretty much over at this point but they are still here making sure that they got it all taken care of. reporting live from bowie, darcy spencer, news4. right now there is a gaping hole in a potomac bar. take a look. that is a honda civic inside hunter's bar and grill. it came crashing through the doors this afternoon and mowed down folks having lunch. an 80-year-old woman and her husband were inside the car. they were parked nearby and accidentally accelerated right into the restaurant. four people had to go to the hospital but they weren't hurt too badly. there was a solemn celebration today for a civil war battle that happened right here in d.c.

derrick ward, news4. if you're driving one d.c. the district has activated five new speed cameras. if you're caught speeding it could cost you up to 300 bucks. these new crams are set up in southeast and the speed limits range from 25 to 30 miles per hour. tonight storm team 4 is keeping a close eye on the skies. most of us have seen nothing but sun but it hasn't been dry for everyone. steam 4 meteorologist amelia segal is here with "first look". >> i'm tracking isolated activity. small compact cells one of those just to the west of luray. this activity down around luray will hold together as it makes its way through shenandoah county. then after that it will have difficulty staying together. those in fauquier county the cell will die out. most of us, 99% of us will have a dry evening. you can see just bringing in an

are not happy about it. congressman andy harris has promised to block a plan to move the kids to a vacant army building. using that building as a shelter could pose a danger to the community. since october more than 57,000 children from central america have crossed the u.s. border. they have overwhelmed federal facilities and officials are running out of room to hold them. president obama said the situation is a humanitarian crisis. four candidates are now in the running to become d.c.'s first elected attorney general. edward smitii smith is the third generation washingtonian. he launched his campaign today from his grandmother's house on rhode island avenue. he grew up in congress heights. the mayor used to appoint the city's top lawyer but residents voted to make it an elected position. voters go the polls in november and three other candidates are already in the race.

new at 6:00 comedian tracey morgan is out of the hospital and armed with a big lawsuit. last month morgan broke his leg and ribs when a walmart tractor-trailer smashed into the back of his limo. one of his friends died in the crash. today the comedian's publicist confirmed morgan can undergo an aggressive outpatient program at home and he's suing walmart for negligence. he claimed walmart allowed his driver to work despite he hadn't slept in more than 24 hours. he alleges the driver fell asleep at the wheel and rear ended morgan. the driver pleaded not guilty to criminal charges. in one instance a teenage girl lost her entire family. she was the only one to survive a shooting rampage near houston and now she's the one encouraging other people to stay strong. just a day after doctors let her out of the hospital, cassidy stay thanked her community. a man barged into her home

wednesday. cassidy had to watch him shoot and kill her mom and dad, her two brothers and two sisters. he shot her two but the bullet grazed her head and she survived by playing dead. today cassidy told a crowd she's found peace. quote ad line from harry potter. >> happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. if only one -- if one only remembers to turn on the light. i know that my mom, dad, brian, emily, becka and zach are in a much better place and i'll be able to see them again one day. >> cassidy identified the killer as her ex-uncle. ronald haskell. investigators haven't said what triggered his rampage but they think it was part of a domestic dispute. back here at home gearing up for hockey in the middle of

behind bars in minutes. dewey beach is thinking about buying portable jails. police say a jail on wheels can free up space, conveniently roll to wherever it's needed. fewer than 400 people live in dewey but during the summer upwards of 20,000 descend on the beach town. you can blame mother nature for all those grueling is owlin. heavy rain cancelled the food festival. officials had to call it off after three inches of rain fell this morning and more rain is expected to move in tonight. we don't have any rain coming in but i think that nice balmy temperature we enjoyed today probably not going to last. >> the temperatures are going tomorrow. the humidity also going up tomorrow. so we'll be warmer and down right muggy. our high temperature today was

90 degrees. tomorrow a high of about 94. now that rain in chicago ultimately is going to be that same system that likely brings us storms monday and tuesday. so, here are your weather headlines. for tomorrow, some storms are possible during the afternoon. about a 30% chance that you're dealing with a late day shower or thunderstorm for those of you in washington. little bit better chance of some rain further back to the west in areas of fauquier and frederick and prince william counties as well as loudoun county. but, again, the real focus for storms will be on monday and tuesday. they could potentially be strong to severe. so you want to stay tuned as we continue to update the forecast author those days. that system as it pulls away refreshing, beautiful, comfortable air makes its way in wednesday, thursday, friday, potentially even into next saturday. the seven day i think you're going to like it. your air conditioner will get a break. temperatures now in the mid-to-upper 80s. 9 in washington. 86 in manassas.

88 in leesburg. 83 in annapolis. it was humid today but, again, the humidity more noticeable tomorrow. here's how temperatures will fall during the evening hours, 9:00 we're arobertson 80 degrees. 11:00 p.m. temperature of 76. again really looking at a dry evening. a check of the satellite and radar just some isolated activity well back to our west and south of the district as it continues to push towards the east. it is really going to fall apart. tomorrow with future weather starting your day at 7:00 a.m. a cloud sun mix across the area. a dry start. you want to get to the pool tomorrow you have some yard work to do, maybe you want to go golfing, get it done early. once we get to the afternoon hours, as early as 1:30 we could see scattered thunderstorms develop across the area. 3:00 notice this activity in frederick, montgomery, loudoun counties and northern prince william county. 6:00 we're looking at, again, mainly dry conditions. going to be that hit or miss
