weekend. some of us have been seeing severe weather are within the past hour. we are tracking what's in store for tomorrow. news 4 at 11:00 starts now. as we wind dow, lightning, wind and heavy rain have been moving across part of our area. and our meteorologist has been tracking it all evening. >> the severe weather threat really diminishing for the overnight hours,t it is going to return tomorrow, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. now here's the latest from the storm team 4 radar. there are no weather alerts up for our area over the rest of the overnight areas. but i'm still tracking rain, light to moderate intensity. not a lot of lightning around the area. as we look back to the west there is still a lot more rain making a bee line right for our area. we're going to continue to track areas of rain until 5:00. you could be dealing with some

rain. but after that we should be dry. here are the storm reports tonight. all of these are wind damage reports. notice the large concentration there in montgomery county. not getting a lot of reports of power outages. but the city of germantown reporting trees down at ridge road. now tomorrow, more storms in the forecast, potentially severe, i'll have the impact and timing coming up in about ten minutes, chris. thanks, amelia. remember, can you stay ahead of the weather anytime. just download the storm team 4 weather app. now to some breaking news. d.c. police officers are looking for clues along lincoln road in northeast tonight. there you can take a look at the scene, there has been another shooting. this is the second shooting in that area in just the last 24 hours. now just a few steps away from that scene, police are

investigating another shooting. this one a murder. someone shot three people outside a church in blooming daily. our reporter and photographer were already in that neighborhood covering this story when this latest shooting occurred. she joins us live tonight with the latest. >> reporter: my photographer thought he may have heard these shots this evening because we were so close to that scene. i just got off the phone with d.c. police. they are confirming that four people were shot and wounded here this evening. they are expected to survive. we don't have the ages, but we're told that all of the victims are males. if you take a look uc/c/ciñ thet here, we are on lincoln road here in northeast washington. if we can go to the video we shot just a little while earlier, we were able to get a little bit closer.

little girl's uncle. the little girl was left behind after those people were shot. she led people to her home on w street a few blocks away, and that's where d.c. police arrested fleming on a first degree murder charge. one of the men in the car died. a second man and a teenaged boy survived the shooting. police have not released a motive or said why the little girl was there. >> actually, it used to be like this a while back.

so i've been here like 27 years, so i'm used to it. >> reporter: back at the w street house where the suspect was arrested, residents are demanding action. ? we have a lot of gun power surrounding our houses last night. and all the neighbors were on the floor trying not to get shot. >> reporter: police have been call heard numerous times over the last few years for various investigations. this neighbor who doesn't want to be identified says neighbors fear retaliation for speaking out. >> we do have to watch out for our safety. we care for that family. we want to help. but at the same time, we do want to watch out for our community. >> reporter: this latest shooting scene, we're told that four people were shot here this evening. one victim was shot in the arm and leg. the other three victims have what are called grazed wounds. darcy spencer, news 4.

tonight we may be on the brink of a much bigger war in gaza. the israeli military escalated their rocket strikes.it's launc to respond. so far the attacks have killed more than 170 palestinians. thousands of families have evacuated their homes and moved south. they're taking refuge in shelters run by the u.n. back here at home, a man has been jailed, accused of setting off explosives at his family's home in maryland and then taking off in virginia. he is in the middle of a custody battle with his wife. the homeowner heard two big explosions go off around 2:00 this morning. he saw sparks and flames just outside his door. the garage was badly damaged. then this man was noticed trying

to break into the house. mark is his son-in-law. although he drove off, police tracked him down in fairfax. two teenagers are recovering tonight after they were both stabbed near the university of virginia in charlottesville. they're both 19 years old. they were at a party when someone threw a beer can and a fight broke out. >> the people who got to throw can, can thrown at them came upstairs to our floor, knocked on our door and asked to, asked who threw the can, and one thing led to another. it was a brawl. and we went to go break up the fight, and we didn't realize that our friend had been stabbed multiple times. two friends. one got stabbed in the arm and back. the other one got stabbed in the chest a couple times. >> police arrested these two men and they have both been charged with malicious wounding. the federal government has scrapped plans to bring hundreds of immigrant children to maryland. federal officials will not try

to turn a vacant building into a shelter. lawmakers like congressman andy harris opposed plan. harris say it is makes no sense to fly those children all the way to maryland. and westminster isn't alone. communities across the country say they don't want to take in tens of thousands of kids who have been crossing the border illegally without their parents. the situation is so bad the secretary of health and human services met privately with governors today, trying to convince them to help. jennifer johnson has more. >> reporter: housing over 52,000 children who have entered the u.s. illegally has become a logistical nightmare for the obama administration. protesters stopped buses carrying illegal mothers and children in california. in maryland over the weekend, lawmakers prevented them from being housed in a vacant building.

hundreds of the undocumented children have been sent to the chicago area where someone's background checks on the older ones. >> i have contacted our state department to ask the host countries where these kids came from to see if any of these kids had documented criminal records. >> reporter: the children are fleeing violence in their central american countries, arriving without parents who are paying traffickers to get them safely into the u.s. as lawmakers debate what to do, some democrats are blaming republicans. >> the administration has been trying to work with congress to pass an immigration reform bill for over two years. >> reporter: president obama has asked congress for $3.7 billion in emergency funds to help fix the problem. >> i think we have to act soon. it's a crisis at hand. demands action, a call for action. >> reporter: republicans say solutions are needed before the august recess. jennifer johnson, nbc new, washington. right now, republicans refuse to write the president a blank check.

they say laws have to be amended to discourage children in central america from coming here illegally. well, a lot of folks will experience lock delays and a lot of noise as they drive through a major maryland suburb. construction crews have started resurfacing work in bethesda. this is a stretch of pavement between bradley lane and old georgetown road. the crews will work sunday through thursday during off-peak hours. the work won't be done until late fall. doesn't get any easier in northeast d.c. you'll have to watch where you park in and around the h street/benning road corridor. the streetcar team will be out in force making sure drivers obey the parking rules. they'll ticket and tow anyone who parks outside the white line. they are trying to get drivers used to sharing the road with streetcars before they actually

start running. target fired a security officer at one of its local stores, but now he says it's retaliation because he caught a sheriff's deputy shoplifting. the security guard told the washington post the incident happened at the leesburg store in may. he says target fired him within days of filing the shoplifting report and giving police the security video. target told the guard he violated procedure by not filling out paperwork before he contacted police. the target spokes woman told the post the guard's claims have no merit. and leesburg police are still trying to identify the shoplifter in that video. a possible swimming pool falls apart. the uphill battle to make it safe for swimmers again. stormy weather causes scarey moments and forces riders off a monorail at disney world. we're watching the storms that just moved through our area, but amelia says we're not out of the woods yet.

in walt disney world. passengers say it was lightning. rescue teams had to use a special rising platform to get those riders down. fortunately, no one was hurt. about 100 people up there. that's scary stuff. >> yeah. absolutely. and some severe weather of our own moving through the area tonight. there was a massive electrical storm that started in western maryland, the panhandle of west virginia. and it held together. those of you watching in montgomery county watched it pushed through. the good news is, the threat of severe werth through the overnight hours has really diminished. we're looking theat areas of ra pushing in tomorrow. not just garden variety storms but possibly severe storms are possible through tomorrow and tuesday as well.

after this front clears our area on tuesday, it's a cold front that's going to be bringing the thunderstorms. refreshing air follows for wednesday and thursday. low humidity, plenty of sunshine, so something to look forward to. but until we get to that refreshing air for the middle part of the week, again, we'll be dealing with thunderstorms tomorrow and tuesday as well. so the severe thunderstorm potential is really focusing on high winds. there's also a threat of hail and thunderstorms. heavy rain is likely tomorrow. that could lead to some isolated areas of flash flooding. but i'm really focused on the concern for high windes. tom will be in tomorrow morning updating the forecast. you can't rule out an isolated tornado tomorrow, but that would be more unlikely. here on storm team 4 radar, notice this train of moisture just beelining for our area. this is where we're going to get rain from overnight tonight, at times. likely not a lot of thunderstorms overnight, just kind of a steady rain in certain

areas. future weather's kind of picking up on this train. notice how we're seeing spotty showers throughout the area. 2:00, still rain. and then back around leesburg. by 5:00, we're mainly dry. so the morning commute, not really seeing that impacted by the weather. buff once we get into the afternoon hours, starting at 2:00 on into the evening hours, we're going to be tracking thunderstorms and again, likely strong to severe with rain and strong winds. temperatures right now, we're at 76 degrees. tomorrow though, not only will there be thunderstorms later in the day, but it's hot and humid once again, much like it was today, with a high of 92. for tuesday, a high temperature of 89. again, storms likely on tuesday. we could see storms a little bit earlier, though, on tuesday. the threat is there throughout the day, but the severe weather threat holds off until later in the day. mainly high winds on tuesday.
