top of the beltway looking quite good. 270 at shady grove, volume but moving. coming up at 6:11, we'll take a look at bw parkway and the gw parkway. d.c. police just told us about a deadly shooting overnight in southeast. a man was shot in the head and they can abo neck about 11:00 last night. this is the 66th murder of the year so far in d.c.. that's a 50% increase from the number of murders at this point last year. today a grand jury begins hearing a case against a man wanted for questioning in three alexandria murders. charles severance is being held on unrelated weapons charges in loudoun county. he's been there since may. a judge denied him bond and also refused to issue a gag order in this case. alexandria police also want to question severance for three unsolved murders over the cows of a decade.

ma nancy dunning, ron kirby and ruth ann ladoto. police say severance is their primary focus. a man who tried to escape to virginia will be sent back to maryland in connection to an explosion. mark castle is in the middle of a divorce and custody battle with his wife. police say he set off two explosives at her father's home yesterday in bethesda. the garage was badly damaged. he ran away from the scene but police tracked him down in fairfax. we're learning more about two weekend shootings in the district. the first, sunday morning on north capitol street near saint martin's church. the second last night on lincoln place northeast. between people were killed, six
