leave by firing a rifle into the air. >> an asian airliner was destroyed in european skies filled with citizens from many countries. so there has to be a credible international investigation into what happened. >> american investigators have not yet arrived at the scene. to put into perspective how much the rebels are holding up the process, the pieces of the plane and almost 300 bodies on the ground spent a second night in the open in the grassy ukraine countryside. >> tonight for the first time we are hearing from a relative of an american on the plane. so far quinn shansman is the only confirmed american on the flight. he was warn in new jersey but lived in the netherlands and had dual citizenship. he was on his way to a summer vacation with his family in bali is. >> we want to know why. who shot. at the moment they are -- what you call it -- giving the fault

>> reporter: their reasons are their own. the way this crash affected them, personal. what binds them together is this walk, holding candles, talking, as they make their way through northwest d.c. from the dutch embassy to the embassy of malaysia, the two nation who is lost the most. >> there are no words to describe the injustice that was done to the people they live behind. >> reporter: it's a reminder that a lot of folks have a personal connection to the crash. it's one reason why the dutch embassy will open a written registry so people can come leave condolences. chris lawrence, news 4. >> just a few minutes ago we spoke to a woman who was at the international aids conference in melbourne where several of the passengers were headed. a moment of silence honored researchers and other victims. he was considered a giant in the community for his work to stop

briefcase search. darcy spencer talked to him by phone. he said it was an accident. he's an unpaid leave. carrying a handgun without a license is a felony in the district. >> developing tonight, more israeli troops amassing outside gaza as the military threatens to expand the ground campaign. israel says the mission is so destroy tunnels. both sides continue to exchange rocket fire. nearly 300 palestinians have been killed so far. about 60 of them, children. they are trying to avoid civilian deaths but gaza is so densely populated, residents have few places to go. >> the surge of children crossing the u.s. border with mexico is slowing. according to administration sources, border patrol agents found fewer than 500 undocumented children at the border in south texas this week. last month, agents were stopping

booth. he works at this apartment complex. residents say it's a miracle. >> i'm glad he survived. >> reporter: medics drove him to prince georges. tonight he's recovering from are the emergency room. >> a car ran up in there. >> reporter: we showed his neighbor video of the scene. donna smith is amazed. >> i would assume he's dead. oh, my god. >> reporter: he survived. >> he's a very nice person. >> reporter: fisher was conscious and communicating with crews trying to get him out. >> that's very good. very good guy. >> reporter: the driver stayed on the scene. he'll be okay. now the unanswered question, why did he crash? >> it's shocking to know someone actually rammed into there. all this space and you run into the booth with. >> reporter: police are investigating the crash. james fisher is expected to be okay. his neighbors along with people who live in the community where

he works hope to see him soon. >> there is new controversy for the new york city police department tonight. a 43-year-old man died after he was put in a choke hold by a new york police officer. cell phone video shows the officer with his arms around the they can of 6'3" , 350 pound eric garner. garner who had asthma suffered a heart attack and died. choke holds are prohibited by the nypd. mayor bill deblasio postponed his vacation to address the city. he promises a full investigation. >> more legal challenges for taxi alternatives uber and lyft. eight taxi companies want a judge to stop them from operating in virginia. the companies are the subject of a cease and desist order in the commonwealth. both are operating. bar wood taxi is suing uber in

montgomery county. d.c. cab drivers protested as well. >> around this time on a friday night the bars in arlington are packed. leaders don't want things to get out of hand during pub crawl ares. they will foot the bill for extra police and security. >> it falls outside of our special events policy. we will deal with a recommendation to put the burden on those who are benefitting. >> last month police arrested charles mac after he allegedly led police on a chase through the streets while he was naked. this occurred in the middle of a pub crawl. >> desperate work under way in washington state tonight to stop the wildfire that destroyed a hundred buildings. the fire exploded in size today because of high winds. it's covering 170,000 acres. firefighters say it is at 0% containment.

hundreds of people are out of their homes and waiting to see where the flames will go next. it started as more fires merged. hot weather is making it more difficult. >> that's what's going on. they will cool eventually. that means we'll go on the warm side of things next week. we have changes coming to the forecast. if you loved the last couple of days you are not alone. what fantastic weather we have had. temperature temperatures averaged five degrees below average. wednesday, thursday, friday, beautiful. temperatures got into the low to mid 80s. some cloud cover out there. the clouds will continue to stream in across the region. winds now out of the southeast at 5 miles per hour. as far as temperatures are concerned, 70 degrees in gathersburg.

72 in fred are ricksburg. they are going to cool but not that much. because of the fact that we have clouds coming. a few showers down to the south. around charlottesville, showers coming across the region. you see it on satellite and radar. look at the rain. the wider view are shows it well. it looks like rain to the south. this is a weak system. it doesn't have a lot of moisture. the moisture is streaming our way. we have an area of high pressure over new york keeping us dry at the surface. most of this is coming in. drying out before it hits us. that will be a dry weekend. we'll see showers but mostly see the clouds from this. a lot of cloud cover tomorrow. don't expect much sunshine. on saturday, look at that. clouds throughout the afternoon. that's going to be about it.

sunday an isolated shower. an easterly wind developing. we could see a shower two sunday afternoon. not a wash out. don't be surprised to see a shower in your area. sunday evening they get out. could have a repeat. then temperatures go up. 83 degrees in d.c. 79 in martinsburg. much more in the way of thick clouds to the west. more sunshine out there towards the beaches. at least hoping so. i'm headed there tomorrow. your impact forecast, none. not going to see much impact. if you are thinking of heading to the pool you need the sunscreen. the sun won't be that warm. 83 on saturday. 86 on monday. here come it is heat. 80 degrees on tuesday. 95 on wednesday. we stay into the 90s on thursday. we do see heat come back into the forecast. it doesn't last that long.
