morning in the israel/gaza conflict just hours after the faa reversed its decision to allow u.s. carriers to resume flights in and out of tel aviv. c news has learned at least five rockets from gaza were intercepted near the airport. they were fired less than two hours ago go about two miles away from ben gurion international. right now israeli tanks and warplanes are pummeling the gaza strip as the u.s. continues to push for a cease-fire with hamas militants. the united nations says the fighting is so bad between israel and hamas that over the past two days, one child has died every hour in gaza. 35 israelis, 724 palestinians have been killed, many victims are civilians. u.s. secretary of state john kerry is spending the day again in cairo hoping to broker a truce. he head with israeli and palestinian leaders in tel aviv

yesterday. he ez is says he feels modest ps ha been made. police say officer lawrence threatened his wife multiple time last november. he's accused of spraying her in the face with lysol and beating her with a metal lamp post, eventually threatening her with two knives. she managed to get away and call 911 from a neighbor's house. lawrence is facing attempted first and second-degree murder charges and could get life in prison. a serious and on which fatal mistake parents make will be addressed today. we're talking about leaving children in hot cars. child advocates are teaming up with the feds to drive home a safety message. megan mcgrath is live in northwest with some information everybody can use to stay safe. >> reporter: well, the family car carries precious cargo and we load it safety features like

air bags p but on a hot summer day, the car itself can be deadly. an average 38 children die every single year because they were left in hot cars. children's body temperature rises three to five times faster than an adults, so they are very vulnerable to the heat. the sun just starting to come out, so it's only about 70 degrees. but once the sun really starting todays to come through here, it will rise very quickly. and it condition take long for the temperature in a car to get dangerous. take a look at some statistics. it only takes ten minutes for the temperature to rise inside a car by 20 degrees. on a 60 degree day, not even that hot, the car temperature can reach above 110 degrees. and a child dies when their body temperature hits 107 degrees. so it doesn't even have to be a scorcher for things to get dangerous. transportation officials are getting together today to kick off a public service campaign

radar. the flight was going from burkina faso in west africa to algie algiers. there were 110ar on board. six crew members. they are no are to be found at this point. the airline has started with what they call an emergency plan. this flight would typically take about four hours, but again it's been a few hours now since anyone heard from anyone on that flig flight. so it is missing at this point. we're continuing to find every development here from the live desk. right now two more military planes carrying 50 victims from malaysia airlines flight 17 on its way to the netherlands. this comes a week after the plane was shot down over eastern ukraine. remains of about 200 passengers and crew members have yet to be returned. in the meantime, australia is sending 50 policeofficers to london to secure the crash site.

yesterday investigators found holes punched into the skip of the airliner that indicates a blast by a missile. u.s. intelligence believe pro-russian vattiseparatisted f at the plane by mistake. d.c. police say a registered sex offender and another teen used instragram to lure a prince george's county girl to sexually assault her. the 14-year-old girl met 19-year-old javon henson in the foe he toe sharing app. convicted sex offender orlando roberts posed at that boy's father. together the men lied it to the girl's foster mom to get her out of the house and said they were going on a picnic. from the girl's home in laurel, they went to haines point and ended up at roberts' mother's home this d.c. and it is there the police took turns sexually assaulting the young girl. both were arrested and face charges. if your teen coulds the

slow. we'll try to get chopper 4 up over the 270 crash for you later in the show. a routine execution in arizona ended with the inmate gasping for breath for nearly two hours before dying. joseph wood reportedly started having trouble breathing shortly after the sedative was injected. according to witnesses, he gasped more than 600 times over the next hour and 40 minutes. a prison administrator says wood was never in pain, still arizona's attorney general has ordered a full review of last night's execution. this is the third execution this year where an inmate has died during a botched procedure using lethal injection. the drug cocktail used is no longer available in the u.s.. that has virginia reviewing its death penalty methods. the state could turnover to other procedures including the electric chair. virginia currently has seven inmates on death row. d.c. an billion libolish tth pey in 1981, maryland did it by a

vote in 2012. today charges he tried to a gun into the building on capitol hill. officers say they found a loaded gun inside his bag when he walked through security. he was at the cannon house office building to meet a south carolina congressman. this is the second time in less than a week someone's tried getting a gun into the cannon house building. the first incident involved a capitol hill staffer. a man accused of killing a d.c. mother was found hiding in charlotte, north carolina and it turns out muichael gayle is in fact in jail there. he went on the run after stabbing his girlfriend eboni domally last month. gayle was arrested tuesday morning in charlotte. the murder happened inside domally's home and was allegedly the result of an argument between the couple. domally was 31 and leaves behind two children. phone scammers trying to

i'm richard jordan at the live desk with breaking news. a plane seems to have vanished and the 116 people on board are missing. this is air algerie flight from burkina faso to algiers. it disappeared about 50 minutes after takeoff. there are 110 passengers achd six crew members on board. the air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane. it is not on radar. the airline has started an emergency plan which means they are searching for this plane trying to see where it is. this would have been a four hour flight. but because it took a few hours before the airline reported it, the plane should have already landed in algiers. but again, right now the plane and all the people on board are nowhere to be found. we'll be watching this throughout the day. 14 before the hour. this missing plane comes as many

it is a warning referring to leaving children in hot cars. child advocates are taking the matter all the w whe way to the. megan mcgrath is joining us live with much more. >> reporter: well, good morning. the family car, before buying one, parents look at all kinds of things. safety record of the vehicle, kind of braking system, the air bags the car has. anything that will keep their children safe. but on a hot summer day, any car can prove deadly for a child. an average of 38 kids die every single year because they're left in hot cars. this year alone, 17 kids have died. and officials are trying to put afternoon end an end to it. the sun is up, but it's still not hot. we have about 70 degrees inside my car. have some cloud cover. as soon as we starting today to see the sun, though, this temperature will rise and it will rise very quickly. and it can be a deadly situation for children. take a look.

this is a service that has been used in the district for several years now. the program first being offered in shirlington and crystal city. it will expand to other parts of the area next year. county officials will celebrate the kickoff at 10:00 this morning with a ribbon cutting. we are celebrating summer in woodbridge. and we have come to one of the biggest at tracks for that part of the town. shopping. >> kristen wright joins us live again. and doid you have to spend anymore? >> reporter: i won't say in case my husband is watching. but of course this is a top destination. with me this morning is the general manager of potomac mills. thanks for being with us. it has such a long history in this community. people love it, people go here. why is that, what do they love about it? >> good morning. thanks for having me here. really enjoying being here. potomac mills has been part of this community since the mid-80s.
